I checked- StubHub has less than 700 tickets left (down from 1200 on Wed) ~ now priced at $1!!!
Anyone have a count from the Athletic Dept. of now many free student tickets remain? (3900 on Wed)
GO HOKIES!
Being real for a moment, Tech could score as many as they want on these poor Cats. They could probably shut them out as well, if they played their starters the whole game. They could TRY to break the NCAA point differential and win 240-0 (but only if they go hurry-up.)
I think what the COACHES want is to see the starters pulled at half-time after playing mistake-free football. They want to evaluate players like Coleman (who bulked up a bit) and Caleb (who changed positions). They also want to find their best TEs, especially one that can stretch the field and be an offensive weapon. They want to find an alternative (or at least a back-up) to DJ Coles at H-Back.
They want to get Logan comfortable in the pocket while going through his progressions. They want him making good reads and hitting his check-down receiver instead of trying to make something happen. They want the receivers to gain confidence and practice running sharp routes, catching the ball and finishing the play. They want to run some base plays and make correct game-speed reads running the triple-option.
They want to see the new starters on kick coverage stay in their lanes and play their assignments. They want a kick blocked to show that they can still do it (of course they can, its the 'Mounts.)
This game can be 77-0, or as ugly as the Spring Game. The uglier it looks, the more the coaches learn about the back-ups.
I think the starters stay in through the 3rd quarter, as Weaver wants to increase ticket sales. Who thought that wouldn't be part of the game plan?
Yeah, I agree. This is the type of opponent (knock on wood) where we should have multiple 100-yard rushers. Let's shoot for 250 rushing, 200 passing. We did 246 rushing and 150 passing against BGSU last year (37-0).
1) I want all 3 RB's to go over the 100 yard mark
2) Zero sacks given up
3) WR's catching the ball
4) 5 sacks
5) 2 INT's
6) Under 150 yards given up
7) 500 yards of offense
That isn't much. Is it?
Beamer knows the national exposure is way more valuable than a lopsided win (available only on ESPN3) ... and VT's D suprised alot of people ... Just ask Nick Saban. GO HOKIES!
Winner.
^ What she said. Basic economics.
I'd like to know if it will distract players on the field, especially at night games (will have to wait on that).
Or lower the ticket prices for cupcake teams....
I have a solution. Stop scheduling cupcakes.
I give Beamer mad props for having the balls to say no to ESPN. His reasonings for saying no was solid. The most important point he made was it gave the staff a chance to truly evaluate how the team stands.
It spurred Beamer to realize he need to go back to the root of Beamerball. It also gave us an idea of what to expect from a suddenly improved offense outside of all the drops.
Playing a pasty doesn't mean a whole lot because everybody in the universe expects Virginia Tech to eat the pasty.
So I'm glad that Beamer told ESPN to fuck off and let them play.
got him
on purpose -1 (JK)
Anyone else remember last year when ESPN was making a big deal about TimeCop sending letters to recruits predicting their win over someone (da U?). I wonder if they're going to report on his letters this year predicting a win over Oregon and looking like a complete fool?
or...could there be some devious plan in place - where the increased sound speeds the aging process of the nearby trees, causing them to die 'naturally' ... I've been suspecting it all along- I think we are onto something here. go with it!
Once you go beard, it ain't weird.
Sellout and Shutout.
(Man, the old scoreboard already looks ancient!)
GO HOKIES!
"and it won't be the television audience" made me chuckle. Imagine the poor sap that GOES to the game and can't even change the channel!
A win for me this weekend (aside from the obvious win by score) would be:
1. 300+ yards of offense
2. Zero turnovers by the offense
3. Fewer than 5 drops by all receivers
4. Defense picks up where it left off and WCU has less than 200 total yards
Bonus points that would make me very happy:
1. Logan completes 75% of his passes or more
2. Defensive or special teams score
3. At least 3 turnovers forced by the defense
I very much agree. I don't think they can send offer letters until high school, maybe even senior year. Someone with recruiting insight, please correct me if I'm wrong. I think contact prior to junior year is limited by the NCAA, but there's nothing stopping a coach from talking to a player to say, "Hey, we're interested in having you play for us," but there's no offer letter, no scholarship discussed, etc. All very shady.
It's funny how NCAA never steps in to regulate something that actually should be regulated. In my opinion, offer letters should not be allowed to be sent until a kids 2nd or 3rd year. Keep kids mind on school until then.
I gotcha +1
He's enrolling 4 years early. It is said he can throw the ball past the line of scrimmage, immediately making him the best arm in Charlottesville since Matt Schaub.

Clemson is playing SC State at home this week. 52 point favs. Everyone schedules cupcakes.
