There are 10 teams in the Peninsula District: 4 in Hampton, 5 in Newport News, and Gloucester.

Southside has 3 districts:
The (Virginia) Beach District has 11.
The Eastern District has 8 teams: 5 in Norfolk and 3 in Portsmouth.
The Southeastern District has 10 teams: 7 in Chesapeake and 3 in Suffolk.

And even besides that, the two powerhouses in the PD (Hampton and Phoebus) have pretty weak academics and a history of players that don't qualify.

LOL i laugh at this but i probably looked really similar at the end of the 2007 BC Thursday nighter.

...and the Sean Dockery buzzer beater vs Duke...

Realistically I think we can expect to see a few years of probation, some small scholarship reductions (5 a year for 3 years?), and an additional year of post-season ineligibility. I think the NCAA will take into account how Miami has handled the last 2 years and reduce those self-imposed sanctions from the overall penalty. Plus, they look like shit right now, and with all of the flack they're getting from the State of Pennsylvania (which is horseshit if you ask me) following PSU's sanctions, they might actually show some humility and be realistic here. The question is how much power they really feel like tossing around right now to "set an example".

As for the basketball team, I believe if they intend to punish the team they will wait to rule on both programs until after the tournament. It would just be way too much bad publicity during the NCAA's golden moment of the year. The last thing they want is for us to be talking about the U's non-inclusion in the tourney instead of Gus Johnson's ballistic buzzer beater call(s).

Well the good thing is, if the ACC does get poached, VT will have a home. VT is often rumored to be on the SEC radar, so life wouldn't be that bad.

It would be karmic justice if they got hammered after the UM guy (Paul Dee) who was the one who ran Miami during most of the Shapiro era, lectured USC about compliance during the Bush case. I mean, they took USC behind the woodshed for one player.

Nail them to the wall and make an example out of them. Miami was out of control and if half is what is alleged is true, they deserve additional sanctions, especially in the scholarship department. The NCAA needs to get serious and put its foot down, especially in lieu of what they did to PSU. Investigations are messy jobs and mistakes are almost always made. So what if the NCAA investigators were over-zealous? Better that than kissing Miami tailfeathers. They had better get more than what USC got for one player going bad, since UM had a string of violations with multiple players.

Can you tell I do not like Miami's program? They are the antithesis of VT's program. Rule-breaking glamour boys who love their over-inflated reputation. MAKE THEM PAY!

This reminds me of the Ryan Braun steroids stuff. He wasn't penalized because of how they tested his piss. We all know he took the steroids, he just got lucky and was able to pin it back and dodge the bullet. Miami is doing the same thing. Where does this end? When do schools crack down on recruiting violations? The NCAA has continued to make itself look pitiful and insignificant with every investigation. I feel bad for saying they need to hit Miami hard regardless because if it was Tech I'd obviously feel differently. However, if schools can get away with stuff and lose some post season games and scholarships in exchange for (in some cases) national title runs, then why not?

That's just my opinion. And I hate Ryan Braun. And Major League Baseball.

was also moved to a new location about 5 miles from the old one, throwing off some of the older alignments that were recently re-shifted when Cosby was completed/opened. In fact, the new location for Clover Hill is closer to Manchester than before so he may have simply been in that grey area where he had a choice of which school to attend. Some students stayed with CHHS and others went to Cosby, Manchester, or other schools in the area. I was a substitute teacher in Chesterfield County when the move was starting in 2008/09 and a topic then was what to do with kids "on the border" once CHHS was moved.

On one hand, Miami's already had 2 years of bowl bans which has kept them out of the ACC Championship. The reasonable part of me says they've suffered enough, and the NCAA is way too heavy-handed.

On the other hand, it's Miami, and that stupid bird thing and all their fair-weather fans can go choke on it.

In all seriousness though, it's tough for me to have a ton of sympathy for them. Crap like boats-n-hos go hand-in-hand with "swagger," and when you build your program with that mentality, you eventually have to pay the piper. Plus, it's Miami. Screw them.

but I just have such a hard time seeing UNC leaving the ACC. UVA? I can see that more than either UNC or Duke.

I am not a lawyer and don't wish to be one so I will not comment on the legal issues because my understanding is sophomoric at best. Clearly, the result of this case will set precedent which will dictate the future of the ACC. If Maryland wins/negotiates a much lighter amount, then those fun expansion campfire stories get some gasoline thrown on them and tossed right into the flames, causing a massive initial explosion.

Where do they all go? I can speculate but we won't know until just before it happens.

was one of the first to break the news concerning Maryland and Rutgers to the B1G. Though any of these rumors should be taken with a shaker full of salt it should be noted that he was very right earlier before most other people heard the move was coming.

Few items to consider.

Hampton and Phoebus district lines border each other. He could've literally moved across the street and transferred schools. Could be it, could be more.

Even though the commenter above says there is a bias. There's not, and if there is, it is toward another in-state school. Some folks mellow out as they get older, relationships change.

If you're looking for Williams to end up a Hokie, here's the wildcard to me in the scenario. Stan Sexton who was the Phoebus coach from 2009-2012 (and i do not believe sent anyone to VT during his tenure-Adibi(s), Parker, Lewis, Friday were all during Bill Dee's tenure-now at CNU) was fired last year after all hell broke loose with an altercation at practice/locker room, etc. New coach has no track record, and he is a younger guy and we don't know what connections/intentions this guy has. Not saying that there might be any ill intentions but it could be a wrinkle to the story.

Here's the thing. Cornell just has the Peninsula. In the last 10 years, the majority of the talent (at least the talent that has qualified) has been on the Southside, where Stiney is. Cornell will be just fine, and if it is a can't miss recruit, he'll have help.

pretty sure the weight of a center hanging scoreboard can't be supported with the current beams. has to be at the ends with the sound system in the middle

Phoebus fired or suspended their coach this past season. Can't remember if they reinstated him or got someone new, or even if they have yet.

Mike Smith has been anti VT since the 60's, lol. He was my Dad's line coach at Hampton, and even then my Dad said Smith steered guys towards UVA or even Carolina, as the Hampton program always has. Ronald Curry, etc.

Any player leaving Hampton to head south to Phoebus isn't a bad thing for Tech, regardless of meaningless verbals.
