Think it's funny that he was reported to be the HC at WMU and then the OL coach at Auburn. Turns out no one wants him (kinda like O'Cain and the App St job). Guess keeping him for recruiting isn't that bad...but have my reservations on how he will mess with the new staff. Imagine this situation in a business environment...the inept boss gets denoted...the new boss is forced to work with him.

Whoever takes over the line isn't left with a plethora of guards. Freshmen starting on the line for Tech is unheard of, and even if we broke that trend this year I don't think Conte, a 3-star lineman out of high school, is good enough to beat out the senior Wang, even though he's not ideal. Arkema is about the only other option unless they wanted to move Farris.

Gibson will be the right tackle, unless they move Shuman to right tackle, Gibson to left guard, and Conte to left tackle. I think that is unlikely. Benedict and Miller are the only locks if healthy, and I only say that because Shuman and Gibson have not had a look yet despite how poorly the rest plays.

David Wang will be a big barometer of this new staff. If the new OL coach has him first string, my faith in this season goes down the toliet. I am sure he is a hard working good kid, but he isn't capable of being an effective ACC starting guard. He doesn't have the feet or the bend.

Running backs are tough. I saw highlights of Barry Sanders and Marshall Faulk, but I never watched them play a live game in college. Despite his legal problems, Lawrence Phillips has to be in the discussion. And, I challenge you to find a better single game than Tim Biakabatuka vs the Eddie George Heisman Ohio State team.

that's a really good point, we have a chance at h2h competition, Foster can use that when we #BEATBAMA.

there's a joke in here somewhere i just can't seem to find it. can anyone give me a hand?

I must be going crazy. I keep checking every 10-15minutes hoping for an update and I get nothing. Then I get disappointed...and come right back.

Stiney doesn't call the plays or have any input on the offense and he stays on to recruit. One thing you can say about him is he's an excellent recruiter. Recruits like him and that is why he stays.

The longer that Sir Beamer take forever to make announcement about the coaching change, the more I gets pissed off that there is no news, then DD makes those two tweets about Stinespring, and I'm ready to explode.

This is turning into a soap opera, like "Days of Our Lives," where we are waiting, speculating, and wondering what the hell is going on with the coaches while Beamer is twiddling his thumb.

Call me naive, but I think Stiney would actually have no problem deferring to someone else's leadership at offense. After all these years of being the focal point of criticism, he'll probably be relieved to just focus on recruitment and perhaps coaching TEs.

if the Hokies want Da'shawn, they're gonna have to talk to the Hand.

While I agree, I also appreciate macraw83 bringing it to our attention. I guess that's HD one informative post of the year. She got her work done early.

awesome. And exactly what I want Jack Tyler to do to McCarron. That would be wonderful.

We are not UVA.

I have to deal with UVA-like mediocrity and expectations every year with Richmond: "We almost made the playoffs.", "Our loss to UVA never counts. They're Division I, so we're supposed to lose.", and settling for secondhand recruits and transfers. It sucks.

This atrocious year cannot become a point of comparison. We need a high standard to strive for, not just to be better than this year. That's UVA's problem. All they wanted when they fired Groh was to be better than the last year. That's the difference between us and them. We want a national title, not to simply improve our record from last year.

If HokieNation believes that we will be successful next year and that we will BEAT BAMA, then you better believe the team will start believing it. And believing is half the battle, because then you want it and then you work for it.

So I will continue to keep my expectations high. Let's do this! GO HOKIES! BEAT BAMA!

Hiring Sparano would result in a huge step backward in offensive productivity from O'Cainspring. However, ecstatic fist-pumping over field goals, and night-time sunglasses wearing would both increase dramatically under Sparano.

Should be Good Guy Hokie
