UVA tempers their expectations. They accpet mediocrity. We don't do that here. We demand excellence, year in and year out.

I've been listening to the radio all day and all I hear out of Bama players, fans, and coaches is how they are expecting nothing less than another title next year.

We need that mentality (maybe not expecting national titles) but at least ACC titles. Year in and year out. I want to be the dominant force in this conference and I expect somebody to want to coach here. If a coach wants to go to another program other than here then I am more worried about this program than I thought I was.

QB: Vick
RB: Reggie Bush
FB: Alstott
WR: Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald
T: Andre Smith, Joe Thomas
G: Who pays attention to guards
C: Barrett Jones
DE: Lamar Woodley, David Pollack
DT: Warren Sapp, Terrence Cody
ILB: Luke Kuechly
OLB: Xavier Adibi, Paul Posluszny
CB: Patrick Peterson, DeAngelo Hall (mainly for his returns)
S: Eric Berry, Taylor Mays

That's why I believe a win against Alabama could be the biggest win ever for the program. It's easily the biggest game since the national championship.

A program like Virginia Tech needs to prove it can win a national title, because we haven't had national respect since Michael Vick left. The knock on our team is that we can't get it done when it matters most.

I expect a staff that can lead this ridiculously talented team to an ACC title and a BCS win, not more mediocrity or just another 10 win season.

Expectations?

I expect dominance. I don't turn on the TV or drive to an ACC town every weekend when I could be fishing to finish in second place.

From what I have seen on film, Holland Fisher is VERY similar to the role that Kyshoen Jarrett is playing as a run support safety. At the same time, Jarrett has a background as a corner, and I am not sure how much Fisher has worked in man coverage outside of work at all-star camps. I heard he excelled this past summer, which triggered the interest from Alabama

I just assumed they gave us the trophy already once be beat Austin Peay. I mean what more does a team have to do.

hahaha you're crazy man. I like you Sean, but you're crazy.

..because he's got a lot of irons in the fire...potential NFL OC gigs, returning to Stanford, etc.

if VT isn't really high on his list, I could see him saying he needs to say no just to make sure he can consider his best options.

Or, he says yes because this is an opportunity that does not hinder any future opportunities...and he could be in line to succeed Frank.

These guys are for real. I have been watching these two since their names surfaced a year ago. Fuller, to win his recruiting battle over Clemson, was one of the highlights of my summer. We are seeing more and more head to head contests with Clemson on the recruiting trail (ie: Lost Stephon Anthony in 2011) so to win the last Fuller was worth a toast.
Teller is the second coming of Engleberger on the 99 NC team. He wont start right away, but one year in the strength program and he'll be a monster. He may even end up on the offensive side of the ball, but for me personally, I like his prospects at D-end.
If we can get Fisher qualified academically, these three on defense will be a wrecking crew in years '14 and '15

I have now started to compare Stiney with Gore. It seems to make sense to me. ...Plus gives me something to do while waiting FOREVER for the new coaching announcements.

I have friends who are very close to the athletic department and Stiney isnt going anywhere. He is being kept on staff and will continue in his role as a recruiter, could possibly get more responsibilities in that area. Im not buying that Stiney is gone. He stays in the program from everything I am hearing.

they didn't deserve the maroon pants this year...

The good:
1) Pep is from Charlotte
2) Played ball at Howard
3) Has admitted to loving the DC area
4) Recruits well
5) Has a like-minded approach to offense
6) Spent 7 years in the NFL
7) Can be offered more money to come 'back home' to Blacksburg
The bad:
1) Changes jobs alot
2) What's to say he's still here 3 years from now?
3) Ideal candidate for a head coaching job sometime soon
4) Leaving Palo Alto for the Burg, from a climate standpoint, is a hard sell
5) Will probably be counter-offered by Stanford to keep him around

That being said, I know we all want an answer "pronto", but if the meeting just took place yesterday, it could still be another week before we have any indication from him what his intentions are. Either way, change is inevitable.

There's a fine line between what just happened at UVA and having two many QB's. As long as you're playing them as you should and not toying with them then many QB's is fine.

No, he saved the world from Manbearpig. You're getting the two confused. I'm super serial.

You can never have too many QB's. Look at Texas A&M. Manziel was the backup coming out of the spring. He came from nowhere to win the Heisman. QB play, we have seen, requires a heady guy who can make adjustments at the line of scrimmage. Prime examples: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady. Perfect example of a physically talented quarterback that mentally, is a few bricks short of a load: Geno Smith. The guy has expressed his desire to 'become a man', and 'to get a good education'. Seems to me that his height + his desire to grow both physically and intellectually is a great combo. Sign him, bring him in, and if anything, we have a great character player hanging their pads in the locker room. These are the kinds of recruits we want playing QB...right? Some positions require grit and nastiness. Like linebacker or d-line. Some positions require toughness beyond measure...like fullback. But your QB needs to be a leader, Johnny on the spot headiness, high character. The representation of the team. From a guy in Colorado who has only seen the film above, I say he is worth the scholarship offer. Gobble gobble Hokies--

May as well. I'm not sure what's going to happen to any recruits on the offensive side of the ball if the Pep deal goes through. Bucky was recruited by Newsome, Sherman recruited Carlis Parker. And If Pep does come to Virginia Tech, he could bring Ryan Burns with him. That may lead to a total flustercuck at QB. Why not Mike London it and add another?

Seriously though, we could be looking at some transfers. I don't think so though.

Although I think we can all agree some coaches needed to go before this season I also believe that it says a lot to potential candidates that Frank is loyal to his staff. If it is true that he is giving any potental outgoing coaches the chance to find new positions that helps in selling his program to potential candidates also. The fact is he didn't build this program with luck. It has taken years of hard work and dedication and i can't believe he will let all that go and his reputation be damaged. How would you feel about being the Defensive Coordinator for Paul Johnson after Groh's midseason firing? A little bit of pressure is good but that would turn me off to being on his staff. I trust Frank is going to lead this program into the right direction as long as he is still in charge.
