My question about making the bowl game is does Beamer actually give the younger guys meaningful playing time against another team or does he stay loyal to his seniors to bring home the meinike car car trophy to add to our trophy case?

would be an improvement. Of course, a dead cactus might be an improvement, too. But I think Washington's youth could inject some life into a stagnant situation. Bollman has consistently turned out good lines at BC, even if the rest of the team looked like crap.
Great job on the video breakdowns all year Billdozer. Effort like that and from the rest of the guys putting together this site is one reason Tech is known for having some of the best/most knowledgeable fans in college football. Thanks!
Can't wait for the film sessions every week so I can raise my football IQ. It's a damn shame that we missed that block in the redzone on the final drive... Even though FSU still would have had time left to potentially drive for the win, scoring a TD there would have been much more demoralizing for them than simply posting a field goal.

Hard to criticize the kid too much for doing something that many of Virginia Tech's "smartest" students (engineers, BIT, etc.) and professors do everyday after class. Seems like a maturity thing with the large number of small infractions, hopefully he can pull it together and be a contributor in the next few years, we definitely need him.
Former OL/OC @ Ohio State for 10 years under Sweater Vest. Beamer has mentioned previously how much he admired the Offensive @ Ohio State under Troy Smith's time.
Currently the OL coach at BC, so he'll be looking for a job soon.

Just recruit kids who are smart enough to not get caught.
We initially had a rep as a dirty program in the mid to late 90's (there's a reason he is referred to as Jim Drunkenraper.) We even had a rape case go to the Supreme Court associated with our football team.
Since then, we've been lucky that we just have had your usual fallout.
And, a reminder: 1/3 of every recruiting class flames out. Usually for things like this (pot is usually the reason for "suspended for violation of team rules" announcements).
This isn't unusual.

Does he have kids? Blacksburg was just ranked the #1 place to raise a family (based on schools, cost of living, and crime rate).

What are the odds he steps down from an NFL job for a college equivalent? I really hope we have Tony Franklin as OC. If that's the case he can bring in whoever he trusts. However, if Newsome resigns and nothing else happens I'd be content with Washington.

I think we play WVU on ESPN2 in a couple weeks. Doesn't matter the sport, I still hate them.
I have not been able to see them play yet, but hopefully they will be on tv up my way in the near future. I would love to catch a game in Cassell, but living in Ohio it will be difficult. I haven't been to a game since Bimbo Coles!!!

I am okay with both of them never seeing the field again. Especially Roberts, he has not been the same this year. I really think the way the last two seasons ended for him has him mentally out of it. It is a shame. Dyrell used to be on the verge of being an elite kickoff return guy (Alabama) and a trusty reciever (Nebraska and nice catch against App St). Davis has never hit his "potential". Every preseason the same thing was said "look out for a break out season from Davis...." The coaching staff should have thrown in the towel on him weeks ago because he already had done so himself.
Unfortunately, the entire site is run by ONE PERSON. The video department is completely out of date - and lacking simple Tech upgrades that are a must.
Like our coaching staff, our business end of the program is old - old as dirt.
I blame lack of major national sponsorships, high visibility of our program on the national stage, and commitment to building our student fan-base all on the business operations of VT Football.
It's a sick joke in my mind - and I'm shocked nobody else has seen the potential it has to improve.

i understands, it's not a continuation of what happened over the summer ... he's continuing to have issues and i'd have to guess that something else happened. pretty sure this isn't a "gonna take my talents back home coach" ... i think manning wants to be here ... just can't keep his nose clean.

It would be like a continuation of the Newsome era.
If Beamer Co. is going to shake up the staff, they can't bring in separate parts. Hire the offensive coordinator first, then let him make staff decisions.
