I guess Demler's first punt was his longest this season for 51 yards, due to a friendly roll. But his 2nd punt only went 25 yards. So his season average is an awful 35.1 yards on 15 punts. I think he can improve, though not hard to do. After 15 punts he has had time to get confortable and it's not like a bad punt or two are driving down his average anymore. I'm obviously bothered by this simple part of the game that can have a huge impact in field position. A 26 yard difference between his first 2 punts is significant in starting field position for the other team. Do you want Clemson getting the ball on their 20 or their 46??
Someone needs a good punch to the face after that one.
Pretty good game from what i was able to watch. But nothing real exciting unfortunately.
Concerns:
-Run blocking. If they could create a couple more seams for DW to hit up the middle that could really ignite the offense.
-Kicking game. Continues to confuse and frustrate me. Missed easy FGs?? Marshal blocking an extra point? If Journell is always going to be talked about as a scholarship player and how good he's supposed to be he needs to make these kicks, not like it was a 50 yarder or something.
-Punting. Oh Demler...that's all i'll say on that. But why did Coale get the other punt instead of Branthover?
What i'd like to see more of:
-Option plays. With DW and Oglesby in the back field and a stout QB why not throw in some more option plays?
-TEs. I love a good TE play and glad to see us using them far more than in the past years. Keep this up, especially in the redzone!
-Passes to DW. We all know this kid is sick in the open field and the issue has been the blocking to get him there. We need a couple more plays to hit DW in the flats and see what he can do.
I don't think the coaches are really hiding any plays or being purposely conservative so to speak. But i do think they are trying to nail down some plays for the rest of the season. After they know the game is in hand I think they are repeating plays to ensure that everyone is on the same page while we are playing our easier games. I'm thinking/hoping that next week we won't be as repetitive with the playcalling and will open up the the offense a little more. It's the turnovers and dropped balls that can hurt us.
A little oversight might be nice while working for a major television network.
Others have the same ritual!
Ill admittedly say I havent been this ingenious before so much respek. Anytime however to snub a hoo is hilarious. Good Work.
Theyre playing Hot buuuuuuut how are we so quickly forgetting Troy and Wofford. This team has no defense. They will be playing a night game in Lane. However, I want them and the media to think them world beaters. go ahead.
Anytime I see VT and Hoo gear displayed, I always 'hide' the Hoo stuff. Glad to hear that I am not the only one doing this! :)
I do a little rearranging every time I see Tech and UVa stuff sold together. Every time I go to Target with MRSTKP I go through the clothing section and put Tech shirts infront of the Virginia ones on all the racks. So this effort is close to my heart, well done Sir.
Fburg was always full of UVA regalia.
I don't miss it!
After noticing this week still doesn't put me close to the top overall, I realize my picks the first 3 weeks weren't that great. I expect to come crashing back to reality in week 5.
Stephen F'in Garcia does not think the Cocks should fall a spot for every INT he throws
I love the way you re-arrange the stock....and they wonder why the uva stuff never sells!
This reminds me of something I've noticed. Have any of you ever noticed any UVA items for sale in Blacksburg? I don't recall ever seeing any (not that I would buy them, of course). However, go in any self-respecting retail outlet here in Charlottesville (ok, probably not on the corner), and there will be a display of items bearing both Tech and the lowly hoos colors. It gives me a warm feeling whenever I think about that.
Things could come out and move that line though.
When I first saw this post my comment was simply going to be ", you guys". False.
Now, the BCO is calling dibs on the DW shirts. It's time to put a rush order on the DuChristophers. Boom.
Per Vegas Insider, the line opened at -7.
I am definitely surprised.
Ditto! Though going 6-0 only barely brought me above .500 on the season...
A lot of money will go towards Clemson and push it to an even or +1 or +2 methinks.
but vegas is smarter than that. i see us opening as somewhere around a 2.5-3 point fave.
as a home dog.
Golden vs Holgerson vs Dabo. Who wins?
I think Clemson is too high though. I don't have a problem ranking them ahead of us, but I wouldn't make too much of their victories. How good is FSU at this point? I didn't watch much of their game but the box score says they couldn't run or play defense. We'll know a lot more saturday night.
Oregon should probably be ranked higher. Their big loss to LSU doesn't seem so bad now that the tigers are going ham against the rest of the top 25 as well, and their offense seemed to have returned to last years dominant form.
West Virginia shouldn't have slid so far, as the others have said. LSU's defense is accustomed to allowing baseball scores, not 21 points.
6-0.....this can only mean I'm gonna pull an 0-fer this week.
I would rather our guys go into a big showdown with a shitload of confidence from winning big and also the confidence that comes from getting reps at game speed than the coaches feel confident in their magical bag of 80yd touchdown plays.
It seems to me that every week we get fixated on one particular play and run it a thousand times. This week it was short passes to DJ Coles. Against ECU it was a million LT3 designed runs. I dont remember last week or week one's play-du-jour but I'm sure it was there.
I generally like Mike Cocaine's playcalling this year, good to see the TEs involved in the passing game more than under BS but I still think there's a lot of room for improvement.

just heard hes leaving new mexico and coming back somewere to the east coast if anyone knows anything id appriacite it... i try to follow him was looking forward to seeing him play next season kids got skills.
