With all these additional offers going out today, that seems logical to me. At 17 commits the pressure has to be on the bigger fish.

Homer Simpson: "Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.". A philosophy that UVA can certainly abide by.

There's certainly any number of bodies, but with limited experience. I think Leal will end up winning the spot.

I'm sure the coaches are worried about it, but I hope it doesn't force them to keep LT3 inside the pocket. Football is football and an injury can happen at any time. He's too good to waste.

They be like Parker, what you aint messing with my dougie!

i think the speedy wide receiver was aaron kelly...

The punt return is at 1:35.

After watching the whole thing I remembered that defense in 2007 was quick as all hell. Flying to the football and sticking the ball carrier.

macho: end zone! it's that way!
dj: dude i GOT it.

Bud Foster doing his great Yosemite Sam impression

D.J. Parker is also doing the Dougie 4 years before anyone else

james davis and cj spiller. too bad we embarrassed them.

How about Eddie Royal returning that punt for a TD? How about Eddie returning a SECOND punt for a TD that got called back for holding?

Such a great game to watch. Those are still my favorite VT unis.

being from south carolina, nearly all my friends went to clemson. my father went to clemson. my grandfather went to clemson. i was thiiiiis close to going to clemson, until i visited the VT campus. needless to say, i made the right choice. beating clemson has been one of my favorite things in life since we joined the ACC. can't wait to do it again this year.

I agree that we need to get him out of the pocket on designed runs to take full advantage of what LT can bring to the table. But I'm also worried about our QB depth. I figure it's really going to depend on how the backups step up in fall practice as to whether the coaches will feel they can take a lot of risks throwing LT into more contact-drawing situations. We may see that more in 2012 than in 2011. But here's hoping those backups look really good in the fall and make this less of an issue.

James Davis? That kid had ESS-EEE-CEE speed, but never got a chance to show it against us.

How about Bud just Supermaning out Death Valley.

I remember we were supposed to get burned all night by their all-everthing, speedy WR (whoes name escapes me) until Macho blew his ass up in the first quarter. Macho also had a 100 yard KO returned @

this beautiful spectacle as well as the GT game. I was in Atlanta for that too. Sean Glennon's 15 minutes expired that night. I was even able to get a cameo that night at the end of the game as the guys were walking too the locker room with my wife E. Andrews. Yea she kept her last name.

How I feel about this. Though I love the fact we schedule teams like 'Bama, Boise, USC, Nebraska, Texas A&M amongst others, we can't keep just doing it for the money on Labor Day weekend. These games NEED to be at least three weeks in with two warm-up games to work out the major kinks. We saw the result this past year: lead a top five team after three and have their juggernaut offenses win the game over either a new defense or, in the case of 'Bama in '09, our offense can't move the freggin' ball except on huge plays. Either way the results are the same: hanging on until the fourth quarter but not being able to finish the job.

Though we will have some defined advantages these games still scare the crap out of me as a fan because we all get worked up and then the team comes out flat. Call me a pessimist but as I argued with a friend earlier, the last 'big' OOC regular season win we had was Nebraska but before that it was against mediocre LSU/Texas A&M teams (for that particular season- LSU won NCG the next year not in '02 when we played them).

Someone brought up the great point of not wanting to be Ohio State and going undefeated just to lose to an SEC team in the NCG. My counter argument is that they get there and at that point anything can happen and at least we can brag about the NCG appearance, not a blowout loss or win in the Orange Bowl (as many would say: big freggin' deal). You don't know if you're knocked out in Week One as we have been over the last few years. To me this just becomes old and as true fans, we will (guilty party number one right here) continue to subject ourselves and spending money to either go to the game or to our local watering hole just to see the same result: a first round KO.

My final message: screw ESPN and ABC and your damn marketing/money scheme...though the trips are usually a blast (Atlanta in '09 for the CFAKOG was a blast though I am not usually a huge fan of the city- GF lived there for a while so I went alot and it just never rubbed me the right way minus that trip and one other some time earlier).

Yeah I saw this a few times over the last few days from 'Bama fans looking to rub in some salt...man this game could be a huge win or another blowout loss (not to state the obvious).

I wanna try to find a similar animation with our D-line eating McElroy alive cause we did get to him a few times in that game if I remember correctly or our D shutting down their 'O' in the redzone

I love this pic! This was one of the few truly "complete" games I've seen the Hokies play in my life as a member of Hokie Nation. Really cool too that it was my senior year at VT to see this and the GT Thursday night blowout with the stolen jerseys in a few week span let alone the same season!

Tyrod was a monster hitting Morgan, Royal, and Harper all over the field and for a huge TD pass and then running all over Clemson's defense.

Defense was lights out and out gaining Clemson's vaunted offense in yards and destroying their bubble screen game literally knocking receivers out.

Special Teams was running all over Clemson who supposedly had that 'X-factor' to compete with us in this game.

And of course Bud puts the exclamation point on Parker's huge pick six!

Great memories- thanks Joe.
