some of these DT's will be OL at some point.

i fully expect VT to lock down kirven and wynne and shut this shit down on the DL.

get edmunds and the other 3-4 recruits will be the O. Harris and Caleb are the big fish on that side of the ball. we look good for both.

1. This should tell other teams that his commitment is as solid as they come (unlike Lafonte, Millweard).
2. That little man in JACKED!

Loving this coaching and recruiting situation all around. Not only are we going after some of the more 'highly touted' and 'blue chip' guys but also literally keeping it in the family and sticking to a formula which made Tech such a force in the ACC over the last few years. It's a great blend which needs to continue because it is a great selling point to recruits and FOR the University. Plus from what I understand Alston will step up to a much higher level than his 'three star' label. Love this move, love a lot of the recent moves by VT AD and coaching staff (minus Bama game). For once I am not pulling my hair out during an off season due to recruiting or other mess. Just full of love, man! (usually I can be rather bitter at this point of the offseason).

Also, as to the comments on UVA not trying...what's new? If anything's difficult their AD/Coaching staff since Welsh just gives up. Why try when you can win 6-8 games and get a mediocre bowl bid (if that)?

Welcome Home Alston! Gotta love the mohawk as well.

DJ Parker, the most underrated Hokie of the past 10 years and one of my all time favorite players.

"They offered me as an athlete,'' Blanc said Saturday evening. "I showed 'em I can be a running back, a receiver, a defensive back and play special teams.''

The offer came at the end of a weekend that included a campus tour for Blanc and his parents and then a workout Saturday morning on the field.

Blanc said his 4.41 time in the 40-yard dash was the fastest of about 180 campers.

It's the same time he recorded at Tennessee's camp recently.

"I had the third- or fourth-fastest shuttle,'' Blanc said. "I ran track this year and that helped me a bunch.''

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Blanc finished third in the Class AAA decathlon in May.

He said running backs coach Shane Beamer shadowed him through the drills.

Then assistant coach Charley Wiles, who recruits East Tennessee, took Blanc to head coach Frank Beamer's office for the official offer.

Blanc has visits scheduled for Vanderbilt and UT and possibly Kentucky.

"If Tennessee offers and Vandy offers I'll try to narrow it down before my season starts,'' Blanc said.

"Virginia Tech has already got 15 committed so if I still just have the offer from Virginia Tech going into the season I might commit.''

Blanc also has to decide whether he would rather play defense or offense.

"Virginia Tech is looking at me more as an offensive guy,'' he said. "UT and Vandy and the SEC schools are looking at me more as a safety.

"I have to decide if I want to be a running back or a safety.''

If we get Bucky Hodges in 2012, all of these worried melt away. The young man looks like Logan Thomas right now, grew up both a QB and a Hokies fan, and will only get better.

I agree about Leal. Not only does he look deserving, but that will only help further entrench us in Florida recruiting (Flowers, Hosley, Leal, Lockhart, Blue).

As much as injuries can happen at any time, Tyrod proved that they can be managed by physical conditioning and learning how to be smart on the field. He was hurt early and often early in his career, and was tough as a stone late. Judging by reports of Thomas, Exum, and Roberts gaining tons of weight this offseason, it seems that Tech's S&C program can pack on as much protective muscle as one could ever dream.

I agree. Hokies have RB JC Coleman and offers out for Wes Brown/Drew Harris, Joel Caleb could be the top Safety available (if that's where he wants to play), and so many LBs already that we may have lost out on Trey Edmunds. Congratulations to this young man, but he certainly sounds like a small-school, long-term project.

Definitely a Greyshirt... With all the defensive commitments over the last two years, you have to think tight end, right?

With all these additional offers going out today, that seems logical to me. At 17 commits the pressure has to be on the bigger fish.

Homer Simpson: "Kids, you tried your best and you failed miserably. The lesson is, never try.". A philosophy that UVA can certainly abide by.

There's certainly any number of bodies, but with limited experience. I think Leal will end up winning the spot.

I'm sure the coaches are worried about it, but I hope it doesn't force them to keep LT3 inside the pocket. Football is football and an injury can happen at any time. He's too good to waste.

They be like Parker, what you aint messing with my dougie!

i think the speedy wide receiver was aaron kelly...

The punt return is at 1:35.

After watching the whole thing I remembered that defense in 2007 was quick as all hell. Flying to the football and sticking the ball carrier.

macho: end zone! it's that way!
dj: dude i GOT it.

Bud Foster doing his great Yosemite Sam impression

D.J. Parker is also doing the Dougie 4 years before anyone else

james davis and cj spiller. too bad we embarrassed them.

How about Eddie Royal returning that punt for a TD? How about Eddie returning a SECOND punt for a TD that got called back for holding?

Such a great game to watch. Those are still my favorite VT unis.
