Right.
they way to enjoy next season is to watch early and identify players you want to watch and be alert for improvements in their game.
Identify things you like on the macro and watch as they progress. Identify problems in the macro and see if they improve or get solved.
Watch the game with other Hokies.
So I am stuck in Abingdon for the next two months or so, and there are two bucket list items I want to cross off my list.
1) When I was growing up, my dad and I bought Tom Richards DVDs of him catching stripers at Boone Lake. Well we tried it (trolled redfins because we didn't know how to make bait) and never caught anything. I don't have boat access now, but I would love to get a striper from Boone. I am limited to shore access, but I have been scouting and found hybrid stripers hitting very small shad (3 inches) around Devault Bridge outside of casting range. Are there any locals that know if it is worth getting some shiners and using a slip float from shore? And, if there are any locals who fish Boone Lake and you want someone to talk your ear off about this transfer class after the blizzard goes through, you may be in luck.
2) The other "dream freshwater fish" from when I was a little kid was white bass. I know they are panfish. But when I was 6-9 years old, I really wanted to catch them. South Holston used to have a run up into the river in the spring, but that seemed to be a thing of the past by the time I was old enough. I used to go every spring to Alvarado and to Wolf Creek (cove near Green Spring Volunteer Fire Department for locals who may know) and fish curly tail jigs, but never got one. I did catch one on accident fishing a rattle trap for suspended largemouth on the Tennessee side of South Holston, but while some may be there, it does not appear to be a viable fishery.
Based on my research, it seems like the play would be to drive to either Rogersville (80 miles) or Melton Hill Dam (150 miles) to have a shot at actually getting on a bite. I would welcome any intel, or am I missing something closer to home/in Virginia waters?
Thanks everyone. Also, don't look at prices for new rods and reels. I was walking around the Bass Pro (ick) because my nephew wanted to go last week, and they were asking almost $300 for the latest variation of Penn SSVs. And Penn Fierce's, which I have almost zero positive regards for, are selling for over $115, which is clinically insane.
Your comment and Alum's above is exactly why I am not going to look at next year's schedule and "predict" a W/L record. I think it's an easy way to set one up for failure and let down.
However, I would be lying if I didn't admit I'm fully dipped in JMFF magic. I can't wait to see how our team is coached and how to our team plays next season. I think it will have some pains/bumps in the road, but will have plenty of shiny moments throughout that will foreshadow what's to come.
Until then......

Any and all tips you've got bring em on! My wife and I have done Virgin, Celebrity, Norwegian (bleh) and Margaritaville (that was our first ever cruise).
I agree with rankings. We did those and zip lined and kayaked in ocean. Wife and I are going back to islands in November/December this year. She doesn't know yet. Its her 65th birthday present (don't tell her ) plus our 45th anniversary trip

It is wild the number of people accusing Duke of "slavery" and "owning athletes" we're talking millions of dollars contracts it makes sense to have some investment protection clauses in there.
Good. I can't imagine any good coming from contracts meaning absolutely nothing.
I agree that players should have got a share of the profits from schools using their images, but I am routing for Duke on this. He is an adult and signed a contract and now wants to break it with no penalties.
Yeah, we did better than I expected in that game and got hope.
So many layers of f*ckery involved in the post season. You have CFP, you have media meddling, you have conference meddling and you have the "non-profit" bowl committees with their 7 figure bowl committee salaries. So many different ways of wasting money that could have gone to the schools involved.
Original judge recused himself after noting he was a Duke season ticket holder so his initial order was stayed.
I had a tiny bit of it after the SC game season opener....
I thought we all knew Bobby's motivations and there wasnt any question about that.
Thought I recognized the name. His brother was a 5* OL who plays at Miami.
Mensah's not enrolling at Miami just yet...
Duke has been granted a temporary restraining order that prevents Darian Mensah from enrolling at another school, playing football at another school and licensing his NIL to another school. The order will remain in effect until Feb. 2 until a preliminary injunction hearing. https://t.co/Pld8exi5gG pic.twitter.com/EY8kIHEHrDโ Chris Hummer (@chris_hummer) January 21, 2026

When we went watching the volcano erupt, both by day and by night, was #1.
Tied for #2 were going to the top of Mauna Kea for a sunset (saw the milky way unbelievably clear, and looked down on the glow of the erupting volcano), and snorkeling with the Manta's. Lots of other cool things, but those 3 are my must do recommendations.
That makes sense, thanks!
Players had to enter the portal by 1/16. They can join a team at any time. We'll see more portal pickups throughout the summer.
I thought the portal closed 1/16?

This is a return to the ACC for Okunlola. He was previously at Pitt.
Only had 1 tackle last season against Georgia Tech and missed most of the season due to a season ending shoulder injury. Had 18 solo, 12 ast and 3 sacks in 2024 at Pitt.
Beeeeefffffff!
Heck of a last minute commit and great replacement for Morgan if it worked out that way.
Guess Franklin doesn't care if you are front row and ten minutes early first day of class /s
Flying to Seattle for a wedding in early June from Richmond. We are flying out early to Portland and have 3 nights there before we ride the train up to Seattle for wedding festivities.
We've been to Seattle before but never to Portland. Does anyone have any recommendations? We may minimize our time in Portland proper in favor of hiking, wine country, and a beach visit. Nothing is set in stone though and open to any and all suggestions. It will just be my wife and me.
