Hokies!
Not golf, but I always enjoy Skull Creek Boathouse for a meal while there.
Let's Gooooooooooo!!!!!
There's a ton of golf on and off the island around HHI pick your price range and course designer and there's an option.
Harbor Town (good course expensive - might be closed since the Heritage is the week after the Masters)
Oyster Reef
Port Royal - just throwing this on the list cause its where I play the most. Its a solid value doesn't have the views of other courses but its well designed, relatively short and the fairways are very tight.
Just off the island Hilton Head National and Old South are great layouts. Old South lost a few of its greens 2 years ago I imagine they're back now but just fair warning to check out.
Extra value but I love the rebound this course has made - The Cresent. The play was a goat track 3 years ago and new management came in and its been improving at a great pace.
Cool Experience but a bit out of the way - Legends at Paris Island. Its up in Beaufort on MCRD Paris Island, your entire party and vehicle will be searched at the gate but its a great course in general and very well kept
The only Savannah course I can reccommend is The Club at Savannah Harbor because its the only one I know.
This might be a controversial opinion, but what Indiana did will never be replicated ever again. They are the exception, not the rule. Curt Cignetti is going to get a lot of coaches fired over the next few years because "Indiana did it, why can't you?"
Indiana took a lot of 5th and 6th year players that were basically fully developed grown men especially on the lines of scrimmage and was able to dominate all the much more talented teams in the playoff, while also being the best coached team in the country, they were exceptional at talent evaluation and found a bunch of hidden edges, they also never beat themselves and something that will get overlooked is they were the best tackling team in the entire country.
Curt Cignetti is one of one, and any program who has never won a national championship who suddenly has national championship expectations because "Indiana did it" is going to set themselves up for failure because the 72nd ranked most talented team will never win a national championship ever again, they are the exception and not the rule, never base expectations off of the exception, they had a very unique set of circumstances that they took full advantage of, the best coaching in the sport, and a 1st overall pick at QB.
I'm very excited about the future with James Franklin, to the point that my friends joke that I "Jump for James" but to act like all of a sudden we can win a national championship just because Indiana did it without looking at context is setting ourselves up for disappointment, the game is still about talent acquisition and coaching them up, and James Franklin can definitely do those things, I just think a lot of programs need to understand Indiana will never happen again. Sorry for the rant.

# | The 2026 Hokie Hype Train is now boarding. Make sure to secure your seat before we depart! This is where I am. Very optimistic in general but next season I expect a few dominant games against week opponents, some slop from young players and new systems gelling, and just not being tight enough to win the big games. Being ranked would mean everything starts clicking week 1.
I also don't think it's comparable to Cig(what is?) because he brought more experienced players and what seems like less system installation and is required at VT.
Not sure what prices run these days but Harbour Town is worth it for the 18th hole alone. The rest of the course is great too. It's tight though with small greens so not the easiest place if you spray it. May be closed ahead of the RBC though since you'll be there only a couple weeks before. But if it's not the grandstands should be up which is always a fun experience. When I was there I hit one that landed on the platform for the big grandstand on 15. Climbed the stairs and hit a wedge off the plywood to twenty feet
Hey man Rutgers won the first college football game ever so I could argue they're the best program in college history I'm just sayin
It has been a few years since I've made it out to San Diego, but I have enjoyed Queenstown Public House every time I've visited.
Depending on how old/capable you/your kids are, I would strongly encourage walking the Embarcadero.
If you have enough time, you can also take the ferry over to Coronado and visit Coronado Brewing Company.
I think I'm good on Kona Brewing, did that last time I was there, like 14 years ago... there are maybe 4 other breweries on the island i want to check out though.
Def want to do Kileaua. Gonna hit Volcano National Park, my son is excited about the lava tubes
I know my sister wants to do this
We've stayed in HH at the Palmetto Dunes resort a couple of times. (last time was about 7 years ago i think. They have 3 great courses. 1 by Robert Trent Jones, 1 by George Fazio, and 1 by Arthur Hills. I really enjoyed them all.

Something like 85% of the world's diamonds go through there.
It wasn't available during the season.
Heading to Hilton Head, Savannah, and then finally Augusta for our practice round tickets for the Masters. Any golf course recs for HH or Savannah would be appreciated!
Classic NCAA move:
Complaint - post season is drug out far too long
Fix - Extend post season
Next years championship game isn't until January 25th.
Let me know if you need tips for DCL, we are 16 down with 3 more booked.
Yeah they could have done the easier thing and just fixed the playoff schedule so the games don't go into mid January but that would be too easy.
Sounds like Vieques (Island that is Part of Peurto Rico) that we ferried over to for an overnight stay a couple years ago. Wild horses roaming around everywhere. And Chickens...lots of chickens.
It was a lighthearted open to his response to the question. He's been taking graduate courses up until this semester. as you don't need to be enrolled in spring to finish the football season, per NCAA rules.
Besides, he's out of eligibility.
Also watch out for the goats walking across the road. I would go back every year if I could afford it.

But this isn't the NCAA...the CFP is an entity separate from the NCAA entirely.
The NCAA sucks--no arguments there-- but the whole of college football needs to be revised. There are lots of disparate entities and forces making it into an increasingly scattered shitshow.
The courts have taken the majority of any enforcement power away from the NCAA.
This is like wishing on a shooting star, but what college football really needs is a centralized Authority that will make decisions that are best for the game and those involved as a whole.
Actual rules for transfers, a game and Portal schedule that isn't a complete clusterfuck, and transparency on the NIL process.
