I really love the fact we're playing Clemson and Miami early before they can get their feet underneath them.
lol
there are no words.
Hewitt didn't even seem to flip out. I re-watched the replay a few times too and couldn't read much profanity coming out his mouth. My guess is he just says really mean things. "Your wife can't cook. I'd be embarrassed to come over for a dinner party."
The first half was the most entertaining half of basketball I've seen as a student at Cassell. Hewitt getting thrown out and Allen's up -and-under dunk was just awesome.

of the first half ... our wet dream when they play this well.
That Tyrod moved at least some of the time just to see over the line...

if Bryan Kersey is the ref for any of these games, it changes my opinion to a loss
LT better be able to pass the ball quickly and guys better be open .. scheme and talent .. while he can move for 6'6" he isn't TT quick and we all know what our OL is like.
after seeing his numbers should shotgun a 12 pack and go thru downtown Blacksburg and say FU to everyone he comes across.
i will stand up and take my medicine.

NCAA bid will hinge on a ACC Tourney run which, barring injuries, I think we can make this year.

I would be shocked if Marshall played as a freshman, but I agree with HokieJoe3 and think McCray could get a lot of playing time.
Not likely but we will win at least 5 of 7.
I thought this was a football post at first...

Maybe we'll make a run in the ACC tournament...
The arbitrary number I set for this was starting 75 percent of the Hokies' games.
What I found interesting was that even though you restricted starts to 3/4s of games for the season there aren't any glaring omissions of starters, at least since the Vick era began. Once Beamer picks are a starter he sticks with him.
Grant Noel lost any benefit of the doubt with me when he just fell in the end zone for a safety against Syracuse. I wasn't expecting him to be Vick, but he wasn't even serviceable. The coaches weren't ready to replace Vick in 2001.
I think this move has to be made, but I'll believe it when I see it. We've seen CFB go with loyalty and seniority over potential, so it may be up to Chris where he wants to go. With this move and Lanier to TE, we could play mammoth-Becton at LT, who hopefully is not as inconsistent or soft as he appeared in garbage time (how was he the pre-season favorite?)
I was going to talk about this move opening up the possibility of Marshall playing as a true freshmen, but the more I think about it the more I realize that defensive line (and offensive line) are probably the hardest spots to come in and contribute the first year. I'd like to redshirt Marshall and get some distance between him and Gayle/Collins so he doesn't just end up starting at a Steven Friday pace.
Is pretty good but not even in the top 25 nationally for a season, probably because of low number of attempts and completions. 11.3 ypa is also great. Averaged a first down per attempt. He did not do as well his 2nd year.
TT is the 2nd lowest. He got better over time. That is why CFB wanted the redshirt so bad.
Noel was blamed for Hokie losses but it wasn't all his fault. Fans were spoiled by MV's outrageous numbers.
Think its a great fit and younger DEs seemed to have been stepping up during the season. From the looks of it McCray could become a big contributor this year.
I think moving Lanier to TE as well could help the roster as we have quite a bit of tackles that could potential play and it seems hard for him to keep on the weight for OT.
The writer says he's being contradictory himself calling for heads rolling bc of recruiting misses, coaching errors, player devo, etc then going on to say we shouldn't think a NC a birthright. Yea, i'm one of those early 2000 guys who watched Randall hit our first ACCCG in 04 and graduated in 08. However, I'm not one of those starry eyed youngins who think we deserve anything. i've heard the NC talk and quickly silence it. Did we have our toes in the water before labor day? sure. That collapsed around midnight that same night. I was dissapointed and even though many were playing if/then I knew chances we're slim. Even If LT has a spectacular year this year our cupcake schedule with sprinkles won't get us there.
I'm glad there is hunger for more. I am not satisfied with runner up National Champs. I remember a lot of talk about whether we were even deserving of being in the game against FlaSt. We showed we belonged even if we didn't win.
We have always been the underdog and had to earn our rankings. We sometimes get ahead of ourselves in reality and buy into some hype. But we still don't have the prestige of a preseason top 5 team. Truth is the team has many hard working guys who play tough but there is not enough major talent as a team to win it all without some luck. We will have to outwork everyone to get there.
We have been working hard to get where we are now. We are recognized for being overachievers more than being prestigious. If we are too complacent with what we have achieved there is a danger of slipping back. But I don't believe there is any complacency in this team or program, just some frustration from the fans.

Also, real happy that we snuck in another bye week before Georgia Tech. We must have someone's ear over at the scheduling office.
I think that the schedule sets up real well. Four weeks of (relatively) light competition, a quick two-game gauntlet at home, two winnable ACC road games sandwiched between BC at home, week off, GT, get hyped for Thursday night UNC, and then at Virginia. I know its February, and I blame that entirely, but am I the only one who could see Tech winning almost every game?
Not sure why we travel to Marshall - I thought those types of road games were behind Tech.
We also may not face a single ranked team, depending on how Miami and Clemson fare early.
