I saw a handful of tweets about this, but didn't realize how cool of an event it was. Here's a firsthand account of what seems like an amazing day for everyone involved. Great work, Buzz and the rest of VT basketball! http://www.sweetlifewithboys.blogspot.com/2014/08/buzzs-bunch-day-at-vt....

Stories like these warm my heart. I have always loved it when Hokie players did community outreach, visited kids in hospitals, etc. Well done by Buzz, his staff, and our Hokie players. This is what Ut Prosim means. I am proud that they are all Hokies.
Dang! I used a box of Kleenex.
TKP just has me feeling the full emotional spectrum today.
But seriously.
Anyway, thanks for sharing! It's awesome seeing Buzz have a super positive impact in our community before he's even coached a game.
Great story. Everyone should be able to take a few life lessons from this. Excellent work Buzz!! The benefits from this are greater than a 30 win season.
I actually work with a girl who used to work with David, she no longer works with him but still hangs out with him and brings him to see her coworkers often. I got to know the lil dude and if you can't tell from the story he has a personality second to none! I'm glad to see Dave having a blast!
Coach Buzz is such a nice guy. He reminds me of a younger version of coach Beamer.
Really!? I mean his persona seems more outgoing than Beams.
I don't know if their personalities could be much more different. That is not an insult to either, as there obviously are many varieties of good people in the world. Buzz is wound extremely tightly, Frank is not. Frank is pretty private actually, Buzz is not. Buzz is more open about his faith, Frank is reserved(nothing at all wrong with that). Buzz is extremely high energy, Frank is even keeled. I could go on, but both are really good people with completely different personalities. If what you meant was that both seem to be good, generous men of faith, who are great leaders - then yes, they are similar in that way. But they're VERY different in their path to achieving that. And that is just fine.
Hopefully, the program will be more established next year, and we alumni can contribute!
This little kid David lives in my hometown. He's a huge Hokie fan even though his dad graduated from UVA. He didn't let his dad's mistake alter who he pulls for :) In all seriousness, his dad seems like a class act and we're lucky to have him as superintendent of our public schools.
That's awesome. Shared it on my facebook.
Random thought: if one were hungry (&/or hungover) one might misinterpret the title of this thread as "Buzz's Brunch"
Return random thought: I had originally typed Buzz's Brunch, but caught myself before posting.
Glad I took the time to read that, and thanks much for posting. Those kids (and parents, coaches, players) are surely inspirational, and help me keep perspective.

And to that dunkmaster in the photo...I see a little something there.
Just can't put my finger on it...
Work blocked the link since it is blog related. I won't be able to get my heart warmed today...
Check it from home. Definitely worth the read.
Guys this is what UT PROSIM is about! This is awesome to see these kids have a blast!
Keep it up, Buzz and company. We need more of this, not just at Tech, at the College level. I'm glad that it is not just a photo op and a publicity act. Coach Williams seems like the real deal and getting the players to buy in and be engaged was probably something these kids will talk about for a long time. Well done boys, you did VT proud.
