Sweet Sixteen DC Roll Call

Who all is going to the Sweet Sixteen game? PhantomJB93 and I will be there.

Tip is reportedly at 9:40. I propose gathering at a bar (Yard House on 7th Street ) and marching down to MCI Center Verizon Center Capital One Arena.

Iron Horse is where I watched the Caps win their first Stanley Cup.

I plan on being there to harness that mojo.

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

I'll be there with my adult son.

Bought two tickets right after the brackets were announced. I'll be there

I feel like I need to be there. Currently calculating how long I'll need to be living on ice cubes to make it happen.

I wish. I'll be at a wedding rehearsal party in Orlando. Guarantee I'll be ignoring single women and paying attention to the game instead.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

Wife and I just went under contact on a house. I'll have to watch from my couch :(

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

The more I think about it the more I am tempted to buy tickets.

Give in to the temptation! (It's a good one!)

I'm 20 minutes from DC. I'm looking real hard for tickets.

Find someone that is a high donor and have them buy tickets today or tomorrow for 300. It's for the entire weekend. It will be the lowest ticket price and include 3 games instead of just the 2 sweet sixteen.

Damn, I need to make friends with some high donors... I'm more than willing to pay $300 for a strip.

Any clue where the donor ticket section is? 400 level?

Not great, Bob

Considering driving from Roanoke, not expecting to get tickets though.

How difficult would it be to scalp tickets at a reasonable price?

Is it basketball season yet?

I was wondering the same thing, although the 9:40 tip off isn't going to work with my 8-month old's schedule to be at a game in DC haha.

My guess is that if you are super patient and wait until right before tipoff or even after the game is underway, you might be able to find something reasonably priced from someone who is just looking to make some money instead of eating the cost.

I want to go, but $300+ a ticket is not cheap, and I hate the 400 level of the Verizon center.

Also 9:40 gametime, on card against humanity night. Noon I can skip work and go, but 9:40!

You aren't kidding about the top of the Verizon Center. It's so steep I feel like I'm gonna fall out of my seat to my death below.

My wife got free tickets to a Georgetown game there years ago, 2nd half we walked down to the 100s level and picked new seats (it wasn't that full). It was hard to see everything too. I don't know how that was, it's not THAT big, but it wasn't a great sports watching venue (for basketball, never seen hockey there). I decided to never sit in the 400s again, so this is going to cost me $500+ a ticket to have okay seats.

I actually might buy nosebleed seats and watch the games, then hide out up top and live off of discarded popcorn kernels until the NHL playoffs start, thus parlaying my ticket into a Round 1 Capitals game.

Have an extra ticket to the sweet 16 game?

Need a drinking buddy? Awesome, I'm a top notch drinking buddy
Don't drink? Awesome, who needs alcohol anyway
Need someone to get as excited as you about watching the hokies beat Duke? Hell yeah, I can provide that energy
Need some company to watch the MSU game? Great, I'll watch that with you.

I don't care who I watch the game with at Capital One, just want to be with Hokies. If anyone has a spare single ticket, I'm down.

I'll be there. No ticket yet, but I'll be there!

I was bummed to see us in the East bracket after all the bracketologist had us in the west bracket, which would've placed us in Salt Lake City for the first 2 rounds. Now the team is in DC, we moved from the DMV out to Utah 3 years ago. I can't win. I'll be watching from my couch.

While that is unfortunate, at least you aren't living in the DMV any more. I envy you.

If history is any indication, you won't get this opportunity for another 50 years so all Hokies better go now!

Come to Blacksburg and see what the Hokie Pokie is really all about

7.5 hour drive from Columbia*, $300 nose bleed tickets, 9:30 tip? All these issues and I'm still thinking about going.

*lol if it's actually going to be 7.5, fuck you Nova traffic.

Seeing the Hokies in the Sweet Sixteen......Priceless.

If there are there any high level donors on here willing to sell me a ticket for face value, I would be forever grateful!

Any Hokies going to be in Morganhole by chance? I'm visiting a friend at WVU this weekend and will probably be watching at a bar or something Friday night.

Y'all, my coworkers just surprised me with a ticket for both games Friday night. I'm so lucky to be attending this game in person, but am even more thankful to work with such incredible people.

Of course I talk to myself, sometimes I need expert advice.

I have great co-workers, but not that great. Enjoy!

I will, thank you!

They are still over $300/ticket, but when fees are added, it is cheaper to get them on TickPick.com

Man I wish I still lived in the area, have fun everyone!

Tickets are sold out. Only 1,000 allocated to Tech.

That allocation amount is pathetic.

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Supposedly that was the amount allocated to each school.

Yeah, and it's still beyond pathetic. The arena has a capacity of over 20,000 for basketball. There are 4 teams playing, so 4 x 1,000 = 4,000 tickets available for the schools. So that means 80% of the tickets are going to who exactly?

Not to mention the 1,000 allotment included tickets for players and staff.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

We already know 2 of those tickets are going to Tremaine Edmunds....

Regular Capital One Arena Season Ticket holders is who they went to. I got a ticket, from someone who has Capitals Season tickets. They give them first dibs.

I bet over half of the tickets go to tournament sponsors and CAP One Arena sponsors. The last 5,000 or so were sold to general public. Through NCAA.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. The wife gave approval, so a buddy and I are planning to go to both games Friday night. My office is walking distance, I'm tempted to just stay in town and have him meet me at a nearby bar.

I just realized I'm tied for 3rd in my work bracket(150 + people), almost everyone ahead of me picked Duke to win it all, I need us to pull off the upset even more now!

I'm 1st in one of my brackets, and I still have the highest points possible, so we'll see how that goes.

I'd recommend checking out Yard House as a good pregaming spot. Great food and beer, and not far from the Cap One arena. Much better than City Tap House in my opinion, and definitely better than Fados.

I live in NE DC, just up the red/green/yellow line a few stops and my office is at 11th & H Street NW. I've been trying to decide if I want to do a small viewing party at my office and then head out to the nearby bars to celebrate or drink with fellow hokies after the game.

How much space does Yard House have? I picked two bigger places because on a Friday afternoon with the tourney in town I think it'll be pretty crowded. Iron Horse is the VT spot, but it's not big and will likely already be full.

Yard house is huge. It has a giant downstairs bar and dining area. Most booths are 6 seaters and lots of TVs (you can see multiple TVs no matter where you sit). They also have a large upstairs space too that they overflow too. Its probably one of the biggest spaces down there, other than the Green Turtle (which closing soon to become sports betting). It's along the lines of the old RFD. Rock-It bar is also pretty large since its in the basement.

Iron Horse has it's positives, but not as big as Yard House and doesn't serve food. I liked Iron Horse, but you will be nuts to butts there for sure.

Another positive for Yard House, they serve beers in multiple sizes. So you can get a larger size for some beers and not have to visit the bar as much. Oh, and the nachos are pretty legit.

Anyone second Yard House?

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

I'll be at Yardhouse. I've never been to this one, but I've been in Denver and Springfield. Great beer and really good food. If you're luck you get a sassy bartender that knows her beer.

If you find physical tickets on craigslist that are a reasonable price and they will make the exchange in person, what are the odds it's counterfeit or a scam? I've bought tickets on craigslist before, but never for this much, so I'm nervous as hell.

It's possible. I know people were scammed like this for the VT WVU game at FedEx. Usually you can tell when you physically hold the tickets though.

Yeah, I don't think I'm willing to risk it for $600 for my wife and I

Stubhub has prices in that realm if you trust them

Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies

Doesn't Stubhub have a guarantee against fraud?

the fees on Stubhub are abou $80 a ticket when you include shipping. Even if the total price gets down to around $300, I'm not sure if I can give Stubhub $160 in good conscience.

I'm in, with some of my boys!

Count me in for 2. Plus 4 buddies. Can't wait, go Hokies!

Where did you get your tickets?

I went with seatgeek. Though I still haven't gotten a shipping confirmation. I'm still optimistic they'll ship soon. Otherwise I'll be calling seatgeek every 5 minutes until they ship.

Aloha bitches! See you in Chinatown!

Lucky enough to have a ticket. Alumni Relations says gathering at Penn Social near the arena.
