Source: TE/ST coach Stu Holt is leaving Louisville to join Brent Pry's new staff at Virginia Tech.β Mark Ennis (@MarkEnnis) December 10, 2021
Guess that answers the questions around who will be coaching TEs.
FYI (leg to gobble gobble chumps) Mark is a sports talk radio host in Louisville.

And probably STs also.
mark ennis is a radio broadcaster in louisville
Literally said this out loud when I read it haha, helps that I'm rewatching Arrested again.
So happy that me 8 hours later didn't have to be the first to post this. +1
So many TE coaches
Guess that TE to QB pipeline will go in the other direction now!
Hmm, maybe RBs instead? He was at Appy State as RB/ST coach. Seemed to have success.
Coached at WKU as well and was RBs coach for 6 years and tackles/TEs for 2. So could be either RBs or TEs.
So what does this leave, 4 spots to fill?
Announced by VT:
Price (AHC/DL)
Quinn (DL or LB?)
Jones (DB)
Marve (DC)
Assumed/Reported by media:
Smith (DB)
Bowen (OC)
Holt (TE or RB and ST)
Guesses/Smoke/Sauces:
Herb Hand (OL)
If all of these are right, we have 2 left for QB, WR, TE or RB. I bet Bowen takes TEs, Holt gets RBs and we need to bring in coaches for QB and WR.
I like those assignments, although could we see an analyst for QB coach? I don't know how much a QB coach does on game day. But I also don't know the rules for contact between players and analysts during the season.
QB coach? I think the guy in the middle is available.
The other two are also available, and they have a really good QB for a nephew
If it's running backs and ST, then it's bye bye to Lechty and Shibest.
With the Herb Hand rumors, and Bowen being a TE coach, it's down to Jafar. I could see Pry keeping Vice and not taking Hand, but not so sure about Jafar.
Since I'm not anywhere near an analyst of OL play, are we hoping for Vice or Hand? I'm asking about Hand/Vice? @French? Vice? Hand? HandVice? ViceHand?
Vicehand for the firmest grip on the trenches
I like that the pieces are starting to come together. I can't wait until 2023. I think '22 is probably going to be a rough year with all the turnover. But hopefully by '23 we'll have some players who have a year of experience under their belts who will be more talented and developed than what we'll have in '22.
TE/ST coach who has a background in coaching RBs?
Just reiterating what I have said in each of these threads. We're clearly prioritizing dominating the line. Oh, he's a former Broyles Nominee? Yeah, that's a nice added bonus.
Wonder how well he recruits
Considering it's been for App St and only recently for Louisville, it's not too bad, but nothing jumping off the page. Clearly a Florida recruiter.
247 Profile
I mean given who he was recruiting for and where he was recruiting, that's pretty decent, to be honest.
on the other hand, according to this he did land De'Vonta Smith
Believe he recruited De'vonta Smith to Appy State, not the Bama De'vonta Smith.
yes that's the joke lol
Officially announced by Tech, by the way
"What type of offensive assistant?" we ask.
Dudes got jowls, I'll give him that.
Also clearly photoshopped to hell. Look at how the VT logo doesn't bend with the hat.
Clearly not a NickT photoshop job
Thank you. You folks have high standards, I could never get away with half-assing the job.
Love that we are getting offensive staff in for the big OV weekend!
Suck on this one Mack Brown
NC2VT again
Just looked it up and found one article about it.
Starmount is in Boonville, about 15 miles west of Winston-Salem and Rocky Mount is in, well, Rocky Mount, about 20 miles east of Raleigh somewhat close to Greenville. If Stu is able to leverage these long standing family relationships, it should really help get our foot in the door with many coaches in our recruiting footprint in NC.
Also, looks like his dad now lives in Bristol, so he's gotta be thrilled to have his son taking a job so close.
Mileage is more like 60 between Raleigh and Rocky Mount. I assume it's just a typo
I was estimating as the crow flies via GMaps
If we wanna get exacted. It's 59 miles
***VERY OT ANECDOTE***
I went to Tennessee High School when BW Holt coached there. I didn't know he was back to Bristol. He came from NC in 1999, under performed considering his previous records, and then went back to NC. I don't have a high opinion of him because he encouraged his players to run through the marching band ranks before halftime to get to the locker room, and then after that stunt, doubled down by encouraging his players to intimidate the band kids in school and at practice.
as a former HS Band kid..... fuck that guy
Yeah, it got really bad. And the drum line took it upon themselves to be the tip of the spear. I mean who else was gonna do it, the piccolos? The trombones?
I mean, percussion have the stamina, 'bones have the reach, machines (trumpets) have numbers and attitude, tubas/basses have strength and bulk, and saxes have middle child energy and aren't above fighting dirty.
Piccs/flutes/nets are lookouts, run interference, and engage with the girlfriends if need be.
Pick the instruments of your destruction.
.... this is the most perfectly written thing I've ever seen on this site
I can remember when in high school our band challenged the football team to a game... and won...
Yup, they were that bad.
That's a Bad Band!
It was pretty bad when the 120 lb Oboe player (Amy M.) made a clean open field tackle on a WR screen.
Pretty sure that was a different evening.
but it was still a de-cleater
well done
the recruiting footprint of the new staff is VERY exciting. VA, DMZ, now NC. Through in someone for FL and we're firing on all cylinders.
Between Pry and Bowen, I think PA as well.
He's a coach's son!?!? Is he a first-in, last-out kinda guy?
A real gym rat.
QB coach confirmed!
The message I am getting so far from the coaching hires is we are coming for your recruits.
Misters Steal-Yo-Croot
I think he coaches at Maryland.
Per Tech Talk Live, Stu Holt will be RB/ST coach
Prior to his time in Louisville, Holt served as special teams coordinator/running backs coach at Appalachian State (2015-18). During his time with the Mountaineers, Appalachian State won three straight Sun Belt championships and made four consecutive bowl appearances. During his time in North Carolina, Holt helped groom a 1,000-yard rusher all four of those seasons, ranking in the FBS top 25 each of those years. The Mountaineers ranked sixth in the nation in rushing in 2015 (271.5 ypg), while coming in 10th in 2016 (250.9 ypg). During that four-year span, Appalachian State averaged 246.6 rushing ypg, the eighth-best total in the country over that stretch.

Helped to put Darrynton Evans and Bobby Rainey in the league. Makes sense.
