PSA: the Oct 15th game against Miami will be at 12:30 on the RSN

Bringing this up because, in the age of streaming, its very hit and miss if some of us even have an option to watch that. If you've cut the cord, know that Bally Sports handles the ACC RSN broadcasting for a large portion of our area, and they are not available to stream without paying their ridiculous monthly fee. If you are impacted by that, unable to make the game and want to watch, its worth starting to figure out that backup plan now so you aren't scrambling next week.

If it's Bally Sports (Sinclair Broadcast Group), don't get your hopes up if you have YoutubeTV. Looks like Hulu Plus live tv doesn't have it either after a brief google search.

I genuinely wonder what is going to happen to the ACC RSN rights should Bally go under, which it sounds like is inevitable. (long story short, they're leveraged out the ass, Sinclair can't afford to keep them operational long term, with cash reserves likely running out by December or March and they're currently working to sell broadcasting rights directly back to MLB, NBA, and NHL, and are probably looking at a $5 billion loss in the sale).

Their streaming network just went live this past week, and its already on its death bed.

So here in Florida I get two different Bailey sports channels. They cover MLB, NBA and NHL for every team down here. Not sure where all that content is going to go.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Same here in Dallas and it has been a HUGE problem because people that have Spectrum cable cannot get Bally Sports, so they can't watch the Mavs (less complaining about the Rangers, but they suck).

Fuckin hell, I was planning on this being my first watch party with the Chicago Hokies group, but the bar definitely won't have it

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

If you contact the bar and let them know you're bringing in a bunch of paying customers, I bet they'll throw the game on.

Unless another group with a more local game is trying to do the same thing.

It's a Hokies bar so they always put the game on, but they might not have access to it if it's on RSN

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

If I'm understanding the Chicago part correctly to mean that's where you'll be, you will probably be in luck.

Marquee Sports schedule 10/8 - They don't have the schedule up for 10/15, but their 10/8 schedule lists the two ACC RSN games.

Oooo interesting, now my hopes are back up. I'm not in charge so I'll see what the Facebook page says.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

If I remember correctly from when I was looking into steaming and cable packages it's only FUBO and the DirecTV streaming thing that carry Bally Sports RSNs.

Edit:
This breaks it all down, but be warned it's a lot of info. There is an excel sheet linked to it that helps. It looks like FUBO might not even have Bally Sports and just ATT RSN.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

For some of the fans it might be best that they cannot watch it.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

TRUTH!!!!

I was just gifted tickets so I'll be there to witness it live. How bad can it be?

This likely means I will not be able to watch the game in Texas. Maybe its for the best, I sat in a bar with my UNC friend (we watch the game together every year) and that one was rough.

I thought typically you could get these games on ESPN3 if you're out of the RSN region, but I may be wrong.

It may be ACCN+ which after however many years I'm still locked out of streaming ACCN from my FiOS account

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

The problem is that technically, almost everyone is in the RSN coverage area because of how many of them pick up the game.

With a VPN they might think you're somewhere else... I've had success with such things in the past anyways. Usually western US locations work. Denver is my usual go to.

I did find someone on here once that didn't have to deal with the blackout restrictions because of his location.

He was in Guam.

You'll be in a better spot than anyone on the east coast. If you live in a place with the RSN, the only place to watch it is on the RSN. If the RSN isn't in your city, you can get it on ESPN3.

In the Atlanta area - blacked out on ESPN3 here. Was going to do a trial of FUBO, but no compelling evidence we'd have the game there either - even with the 220+ channel package.
I can access the most obscure games here, but not this one. The media deals we have suck, but we've already established that.

GameDay is going to be in Lawrence, Kansas the same day that VT-Miami will play a Nooner on a channel that nobody has. Is this real life?

edit: nevermind, my weeks are off. But the overall sentiment still applies.

Sounds more like basketball season

Anyone know what this means for the Richmond area?

Means we're screwed. I'll see you at home team grill

Should be on MASN if you have cable

With the ACC network, why do we still have games on the fucking RSNs? seriously

Seriously.
I don't follow this stuff in detail like most but general impression is the ACCN was implemented...to show ACC games. There are only 4 ACC games that day...and I believe FSU - Clemson is getting ABC treatment and no noon ACCN game.

Don't quote me on this, but I seem to remember someone on here explaining that Swofford's son worked for an RSN, thus the deal....

John Swofford's son was the Director of Outside Business (or a similar name... basically, he was in charge of the negotiation on behalf of the broadcaster) at Raycom when the deal was signed. He was also high up in the athletic department at Boston College when they got their invite to the ACC. You should still be able to find his LinkedIn where you can see it for yourself.

All coincidental, I'm sure

Swofford's son worked for Raycom, who did that syndicated ACC Network stuff. I'm not sure how the ACC got into the RSN business or who actually controls that part of the deal. But somehow Raycom still does the actual production for the RSN deal.

Obviously, we go over this every time an RSN game comes up:

Short version -- it's another crap deal that the ACC can't get out of early. And it's probably not worth it for ESPN to buy the contract out. At least we've only got it through the 2026 season.

through the 2026 season.

That's a long time when it was outdated about 5 years ago...

I'm looking at the bright side that it's not 2036 like the rest of the TV deal.

Oh, and let's not forget that the last RSN extension was due to adding Pitt and Syracuse to the conference.

2 good birthday presents for me:

(1) Picked up some Eagle Rare last weekend, so will open that on the 15th
(2) The Tech game not being televised that day

I loooooove Eagle Rare. Happy Birthday! (Whenever it is! Lol)

So, I haven't put this out there on TKP yet, but I have access to every single channel in America... Literally, every. Single. One (locals and all) through a thing called BeeTV. Had to call a dude to set it up for me... We've had it for almost 2 years now. No issues at all. I can catch every game, no matter who is showing it. I was super skeptical at first, but again, no issues. I'll keep rolling until it doesn't work anymore. Not sure how to get ppl in touch with the guy, but....

Oh, and it's only $15/month.

Haha... It feels like that. But again, I've had zero issues with it.

In case anyone is curious, here's the full ACC lineup for that weekend:

Miami at Virginia Tech, 12:30 p.m., RSN
NC State at Syracuse, 3:30 p.m., ACC Network
Clemson at Florida State, 7:30 p.m., ABC
North Carolina at Duke, 8 p.m., ACC Network

The other six teams are all on byes. The ACC/ESPN was probably contractually obligated to send one game to RSN. VT and Miami have a combined record of 4-5 right now. All of the rest of the matchups have a combined record of 9-1 or 8-2.

I can't find the RSN list for VT/Miami, but here's the lists for two earlier games in this year:
https://theacc.com/sports/2022/8/26/FB_RSN_UR_UVA_22.aspx
https://theacc.com/sports/2022/9/7/FB_RSN_UM_BC_22.aspx

The channels usually don't change week to week. If you have a Bally Sports channel (formerly a Fox Sports regional channel), you're probably getting it there. Virginia, DC, and Maryland is getting it on MASN. Expect it to be blacked out on the ESPN app wherever you are.

Actually happy we're an early kick. A pile of good matchups in the top 25 next weekend.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

As I will be at the game, I am not so much worried about coverage for that game. The others running the rest of the season might be an issue.

Eastern and central NC will probably get it on MASN as well... which sucks for Spectrum customers who don't get MASN but are still blacked out from streaming.

I just cut the cord, and will be moving to Hulu+Live TV, which hopefully has MASN in RVA. I got the Disney+ package, and it's an awesome bundle worth having.

Update: they don't.

MASN notoriously doesn't get along with anyone outside of DirecTV and even then they negotiate about every 6 months seems like. Like the team they put on tv, but man I wish the Nats could get someone else to broadcast. Haven't been able to really watch games in about 6 years.

I cut the cord in 2015, don't miss it except Saturdays in the fall on occasion. Using Hulu+, have seen every game so far, but won't have access to the Miami game most likely.

VPN and location spoofing on my phone cast to the television. ESPN thinks I am on the west coast, so I can view the stream.

Tried to sign up for DirectTVStream free trial this morning to watch the game, and the site is mysteriously not working lol. Guess I'll be following this one on TKP. I expect a very impulsive, knee-twitch play by play as usual folks!

The radio feed is your friend. Can get it on the HokieSports app/site.

Up in bawlmer on Youtube TV. I can get the Virginia Union vs Bowie State game....
