LOLUVA bans ODU service dog in desperate attempt to avoid upset Saturday

We all know they're bad but this is some next level evil type shit. And they're still gonna lose.

Wow, that is next level ducherey. Also, wtf is the story doing on golf digest?

They have the highest standards for well mannered animals.

The dog has a handler as well.

That's the cutest mascot I know and I have no problems with the hokie bird letting him win in a mascot fight.

The biggest question I have is why is this on Golf Digest

Small dimply balls is the common thread.

This is going to be great for the ACC.

I laughed.

... a program that shouldn't be sweating the arrival of FCS Old Dominion this weekend.

That's about the level of college football journalism I'd expect from Golf Digest.

UVA won't lose, ODU only has it in them once.

If only that was actually true!??????????????????

*this year.

Also, they are two games into the season and Tony Elliot has been calling out the fans in the media, basically begging them to show up to games. It hasn't sat well with the fans either. It's beautiful.

Another white bronco? The first one didn't go too far.

What was he expecting? He should know what UVA is after coaching in the ACC for a decade. I cannot for the life of me figure out why he took that job. I really don't see the upside in it for him.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

I get the feeling he was desperate to get out and took the least bad option he had to do it.

This makes a lot of sense, he might be a very good x's and o's coach, he might be a good HC someday but his offense was stagnate and if it continues his stock would drop.

Coaching at UVA is typically not a springboard for bigger and better things. I guess I would have thought he had a better least bad option just having been at Clemson for the last 10 years.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

Also it seems like TE initially wasn't even their first choice. They want hard after Anthony Poindexter and after that ship sailed, circled back to Elliott.

Poindexter made too much sense for UVA to actually do it. I was hoping Pry could poach him from PSU after they hired Diaz just for the Hoo tears.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

I think there were discussions between Pry and Poindexter but then UVA came around interested in him for HC and he ended up just choosing the middle road. I think he realized UVA just wasn't set up to compete and had to walk away.

Those are the rumors I heard too. Poindexter wanted some promises of change and he wasn't given them. Who knows UVA fans are a bunch of cornballs, idk what a HC can expect to accomplish with fans like this.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

I mean Bronco quit because UVa wouldn't pivot the funding to be competitive in football, so you kind of have to believe that Poindexter didn't take it for the same reason. I believe Elliott thought he could convince them after coming in and has quickly realized just how little a shit they give about football there, and he's taking it public to hopefully encourage change.

Shit like this is why I roll my eyes every time I see an article or prediction saying that UVa is at the top of the list for the Big Ten or SEC. UVa doesn't care about football. They had a coach quit because they don't give a shit about football. Why the hell are either of those conferences going to go after them when they have decades of history showing they will prioritize everything but the one thing those conferences care about in expansion when they could just go after VT, get the same market and get a school with good academics, a rabid fanbase that is rapidly growing because of an ever increasing enrollment total, and an athletic department that absolutely will prioritize football.

Also, I know UVA considers themselves the "flagship" state university. But UVA is pretty small enrollment-wise in comparison to most public universities. They are basically a quasi-private institution at this point. The SEC and Big Ten are mostly comprised of large state schools where football fandom is rabid. They aren't adding what boils down to the equivalent of another Vanderbilt with UVA when these conference moves are about nothing but football and tv markets for said football product.

UVa doesn't care about football.

You're right but they did take Rutgers.

(Also while researching something I found out Yale has 18 national championships in football)

Oh yeah, we rock!

And for what it is worth, we have a bunch of Heisman winners too.

You are correct but if we are to make a move to a different conference, we very well might be tied to them politically.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

To be fair they are dumping several million into a football and sports facility there. Wish we could find the space on campus to do the same.

Yup TE's stock was plummeting after Lawrence left and he got out to get paid

I mean....its not the worst strategy....other than subjecting yourself to UVA to do it

I guess he didn't realize that LOLUVA doesn't actually HAVE football fans.

Hudson has more crocs that UVA has fans at the spring game.

The dog is clearly an actual Hokie fan. The video of him when ODU scored the go ahead TD and he just lays there. He was so pissed like the rest of us, could not believe we let it slip away.

Sounds like UVa and Texas A&M should schedule each other every year. Would fit together.

Man, fuck UVA.

Twitter me

Talk about a meteor game. Whoever wins that game is going to be insufferable for the rest of the season. Moreso than usual.

The fact that this story is being covered by Golf Digest tells you all you need to know about the relevancy for either of these two programs.

I mean that's a good way to reach LOLUVA alumni, no? Smart move by Golf Digest

Warning: this post occasionally contains strong language (which may be unsuitable for children), unusual humor (which may be unsuitable for adults), and advanced mathematics (which may be unsuitable for liberal-arts majors)..

The big irony here is that UVA is gonna wish they had an emotional support animal present after they get destroyed by ODU at home on Saturday....

UVA is scared of a dog who wears crocs.

This is such a bad look for them. It's making national news.

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

According to Twitter, they walked this back after the bad press and Hudson will be there.

Also, not sure where to put this so dropping it here. I really hope Whit follows suit

If we can't do the same, then I really want to know who reviews VT's contracts and who advises on legal matters. It really feels like we keep getted F'd with the contracts we enter into.

Liberty moving to 8 conference games forced them to cancel series with a few other teams as well, including UVA. Not sure why we drew the short straw of keeping them scheduled.

we probably paid them the most

With how much money Liberty apparently has, why is VT paying them a cent?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but what we pay them is paid back by them when we go there?

Tech will pay Liberty $500,000 for each of the Flames' 2027-29 trips to Blacksburg. That's about half, or less, what Power Five schools usually pay FBS opponents from outside the major conferences.

In exchange for the lower guarantees, the Hokies agreed to the road games β€” they'll receive $250,000 for their trips to Lynchburg.

The road games mentioned are 2022 and 2030. So we pay $1.5 million and get half a million back.

The 2020 game was apparently part of the same deal as the 2016 game. That would have been made while they were FCS. I can't find details on the money involved there.

The new Tech-ODU contract is essentially a check exchange, each visiting team due $250,000.

This refers to the six game extension covering 2026-2031.

As much as I hate the Hoos, I'm kinda relieved they pulled out the win.
Here's why: had they lost to ODU.... would that have meant that ODU gets the Commonwealth Cup this year?

As much as I hate to admit this, it was probably a perfect outcome for us. ODU fans can't claim the state and UVA can't honestly say they looked any better than us against the butterflies.

If you feel the leather in your hand let it rip.

Vegas makes home field worth 3 points.

We lost by 3 on the road, meaning technically we tied.

uva won by 1 at home, meaning they technically lost by 2.

So our performance is still 2 points better than theirs. Its science.

If we played ODU on Saturday, we would beat them by at least a TD or 2.

We have really reduced a bunch of the shown flaws from that warm up game. Aren't we glad it didn't count for anything?

That's Beam's Hangover Game face.
