The Giants Drafted David Wilson and I'm Happy.

The New York Giants selected David Wilson with the 32nd overall pick in the NFL Draft. Wilson is the first Hokie to go in the first round since the Texans picked offensive tackle Duane Brown in 2008.

Q: What was your reaction when the Giants selected you?

A: I was sitting on the bed and the Giants had the last pick in the first round... And then Tampa Bay traded (up), and I thought, 'Maybe they'll get a running back. I know they need a running back.' At that point, I was hoping for anything. The Giants are Super Bowl champions, and I'm like 'They probably won't pick me...' I was just hoping that something would happen, and I get the New Jersey call and I start screaming. I answered the phone and it was the New York Giants. It was the best call that I got in a long time.

If y'all don't know I'm a Giants fan. I watch every snap of Virginia Tech football on Saturday, and as painful as it can be at times, every snap of Giants football on Sunday. I'm excited Jerry Reese drafted him, finally I get to root for a Hokie on my team. From my observations, here are a cheat sheet for success in New York for 4 (or maybe now 34), David Wilson.

** BE ON TIME, ERR 5 MINUTES EARLY, FOR EVERY MEETING. It's called Coughlin Time, and coach doesn't tolerate tardiness. If I remember correctly, which I probably don't considering I watch nearly every game with a six-pack, he sat Strahan for being on time (yes on time) for a team meeting. BE EARLY.

** DO NOT FUMBLE. Be better than UVA. This is a life less in general. Coughlin had to Fix Tiki; get him carrying the rock upright, high and tight. Represent our proud tradition of Hokie tailbacks in the NFL.

** DON'T RUN BACKWARDS. Kevin Gilbride accounts for every inch of turf on the field. Gains and losses are meticulously accounted for on his balance sheet of a play card. Long story short, if you move backwards on 2nd and 8, I'll have to throw pillows at the TV because we're not converting 3rd and 12. It's a 60" Sony. It cost $2,500. I can't afford another. Please don't make me break it.

** ELI HAS NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK HE'S DOING. Unless it's the last 2 minutes of the half, then he's the best quarterback in the NFL. Otherwise, just go with it.

** KEEP YOUR CLEATS ON. Well whatever, run with one off and gain 40 yards anyways.

** YOU'RE RETURNING KICKS. YAIS! (You got that under control... moving on.)

** IF YOU CLIMB GIANTS STADIUM, DON'T FALL OFF. "They've" been dumping bodies in the Meadowlands for years, no one will find you.

** EAT CHICK-FIL-A ON SUNDAY. Don't forget who you are.

damn

ima miss him

This is why I hate the draft....

Cowboys fan here, and not only do I have to disown RGIII, but now I have to disown DMFW, too? This is too much to bear in one night.

Cowboys and Redskins fans are just weird.

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

I didn't expect this

I was surprised to see that the Giants took David Wilson, but I think this can be the start of something beautiful. Our running game was not very reliable this year and somehow we were still the champs. Imagine what we can do with a RB like DMFW. So pumped to continue cheering for this guy!

I was shocked too.

I knew running back was one of the positions we wanted to address, and I remember seeing a very early mock draft (SI.com I believe) that projected Wilson to the Giants, but after the Bucs moved up to get Martin I figured we'd go conservative pick up a defender, then get a RB at the tail-end of the second round. Wilson could absolutely be a stud in the League, and Coughlin will be a great coach to polish his running style and turn him into a complete back. Reese already said he's returning kicks, which is a great way to get him on the field early.

Looks like I'm done rooting for DW /sadface

Proud of DMFW

Sadly, I am Dolphins fan, but I have family that are die hard Giants fans. I am really happy for DMFW to have the chance to play for the Giants. Not sure how he will fit into their offense, not really a replacement for 6'4 270 Brandon Jacobs, but I am sure he will get to return kickoffs this year and maybe get some time, when Bradshaw is winded.

It's a great day to be a Hokie!

I Hope

That David Wilson returns a kickoff for a touchdown this upcoming season and does a multi-backflip celebration. So happy for DMFW!

I too am a longtime Giants Fan

Family in Upstate NY took me to my first pro game in the early 90s, at the Old Meadowlands. My dad gave me a copy of "The Greatest Game Ever Played" for stocking stuffer a while back. I love how we're Tom Brady's kryptonite.

Incredibly pleased they picked up DW4 (now 34). He just needs to nail down those fundamentals and intangibles, then he'll really blow up the box score!

GO HOKIES! GO G-MEN!

So Mad

Die hard Patriots fan, and the ONLY team that would have made me more mad last night than the Giants to draft DW would be the Jets. I was actually flipping a dual bird at the TV for the pick, and when he announced it was DW I was literally in shock. I wanted to cry, and curl up in a ball. I want DW to do well, but I will ALWAYS have a grudge against the Giants. Always.

This is appropriate

Danny Coale!

to Dallas! YESSSSS

I really hope

that we have 2 Hokie backs making a splash this year; it's be nice to see Little Sweetness come back from his injury with a vengeance and have both him and DW make an impact at the same time. RBU!
