WBB ACC Tournament vs UNC Mar 6

The Ladies face UNC in the quarterfinals today at 7:30. The line is UNC by 7.5; predictor says UNC 77.7%. Game is on the ACC Network with Courtney Lyle, Brook Weisbrod and Jess Sims. Evan Hughes on the Hokies network.

The Hokies lost a heartbreaker in OT on Feb 19 by 3 points. UNC roster:

They primarily play the top six, the starters plus Nyla Brooks.


The top six all shoot well overall and except for Nyla Harris are also a threat from three. I don't think anything will matter if we don't shoot much better than we did against GA Tech. 36% and 32% from three will be a disaster tonight. Freelon will have her hands full trying to guard 6' 4" Cierra Toomey; she had 4 fouls Feb 19. The top six score between 8.5 and 11.6 ppg. UNC has more assists(16.3) then turnovers(14.0) per game. Outrebounds their opponents by 8 per game and blocks 3.7 shots per game while stealing the ball 9.1 times per game. They are a little weak at the line with Nivar and Brooks shooting foul shots in the mid 50% range.

We have gotten as far in the tournament as I expected. Any additional wins would be great.

Welp projections for the Ladies are seemingly all 9 seeds. Seen three different regions though having them face either South Carolina, Texas or UCLA if they reach the 2nd Round. Tough road.
