Imagine the type of player he could become. He could be a key to landing some big time o-line recruits because of how much he is involved as a freshman!

Unfortunately, I think this is much more likely an indictment of Shuman and Newsome than it is a compliment for McLaughlin. I'm only cautiously optimistic about him for this season, although I am psyched that he is at this stage as a freshman.
My prediction is that McLaughlin is a heavily used backup this year and starts next year.

Really interesting that he could enroll in January and is now in a position to be the starting LT. Think it says something about the previous OL coaching that a guy like Mark Shuman, 3 years of being groomed in college and coming in a 4 star prospect, could be passed by a guy just getting on campus.
Interesting note he's just coming from FUMA where Mark Shuman's dad was his coach. That has to be tough to see a player that you just coached passing your son on the depth chart.

You may be right, but he went to FUMA for a year. So I look at him differently than i do a true freshman.
