Babcock and Pry confirmed the rumors we've been discussing at the Spring Meetings:
Both athletic director Whit Babcock and football coach Brent Pry, who are attending the ACC's spring meetings at The Ritz-Carlton, confirmed the upcoming reveal.
The premise of the piece is that FSU joining the ACC was always about money, just like FSU's seemingly inevitable exit. But this piece is about so much more than FSU:
Pry cited three things that have helped Virginia Tech return to this place of high expectations.
"Culturally, to be transparent and genuine with our team and our coaches," Pry said. "Along with that, embracing hard conversations that come with the transparency and being genuine. I think we've gained a lot from that.
A #Hokies football uniforms update: It's still going to be a while. "Mid-summer" is the best estimate, I've been told. The issue is VT is at the mercy of Nike's production schedule. They don't currently have the new unis, so the release is not going to be imminent.— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) May 23, 2024
Just speculation at this point, but there are discussions happening to flip the bird to the SEC and Big10, and for the G5 to make their own playoff and potentially a single conference / league with multiple divisions... call me crazy, but the ACC should at least hear them out.
Interesting video from Brent Davis. He breaks down the GT counter scheme we used to open up a big gain for Kyron Drones against BC this year. I enjoyed this and thought others might too.
I know this used to be a regular thing with Beamer, I guess Pry & Co have brought it back.
For some reason VT is terrible about publicizing these things

Helped themselves:
1) Keyshawn Burgos
2) Lance Williams
3) Jason Abbey (especially with the injury to CJ McCray)
4) Ja Riccous Hariston
5) PJ Prioleau
6) Malachi Madison
7) Deric Dandy
Disappointing day
1) Kevin Gilliam and Wilfred Pene
2) Entire linebacking group
3) Armani Cotman
4) Layth Ghannam
5) Parker Clements (in pass protection, was fine run blocking)
Scrimmage format and team distribution makes it difficult to assess:
1) Aeneas Peebles (didn't have a strong two gap next to him, making him vulnerable to being trappped.)
2) Corners (lots of basic zones, with throws targeting linebackers)
3) Backup QBs
