The Military Bowl presented a great opportunity for the Hokies to set the path forward for 2024. Retaining most of the team, including a number of prospective transfers, the Hokies delivered a resounding victory over a Tulane team that had built one of the most physical and successful g5 programs. Don't let the narrative of Tulane being depleted fool you. While quarterback Michael Pratt didn't play, several of the key pieces for Tulane's stout defense (Deveon Deal, Tyler Grubbs in particular) who were in the portal played.
For as much success and development we've had this year, can we please recognize how consistent John Love was this year? 20-22 on FG and 39/39 on PAT. I feel like the last decade I was never very confident on us kicking a field goal, but this year it wasn't much of a worry. Even today, in horrible weather conditions, he nailed his chances. He's going to be another key piece for success next year.
Does anyone have a recommendation for where to park for the Military Bowl at Memorial Stadium? Parking is currently sold out, and I likely won't be able to get there till just before kickoff. Their website provides some options but I am not sure which ones would be most convenient/available by the time I will get there.
Don't think I'd seen on and thought we'd want a place to discuss any games of note.
For instance, I just noticed South Florida is kicking the snot out of Syracuse 31-0 at the half in the Roofclaim.com Boca Raton Bowl (apparently that's a serious name). Anyway, gotta love seeing that, and if Syracuse got a good recruiter, they sure as hell need it.

Put the brakes on HS recruiting a couple weeks ago because of all of the returning players. This level of retention was a good problem to have. We don't have the space to take everyone that wants to be at Tech.

I had to join a little late, but I talked transfers and the bowl game with Pete and Robbie of the Two Deep Podcast and Doug Bowman from 24/7 last night. If you want to check it out you can watch here. I join a bit after the 15 minute mark and stay on for about an hour.
Despite starting all 12 of Ohio State's regular-season games this season, McCord entered the transfer portal just hours after it opened on Dec. 4 after being informed that Ohio State would reopen the quarterback competition for the 2024 season. McCord was seeking a guaranteed opportunity to be a starter, and he should get that at Syracuse, where current starter Garrett Shrader is set to exhaust his eligibility.
He'll be Syracuse's first starting quarterback under new head coach Fran Brown, who became Syracuse's coach earlier this month after two years as Georgia's defensive backs coach.
25yr 6A Manchester High football coach Tom Hall, a former Virginia Tech lineman and one of the winningest high school football coaches in Central Virginia with just under 200 career victories, announced at season's end that he's stepping down, time for a change.
Wonder if he'd have anything to add on Pry's team?
