Have we heard anything further on the Motley injury/playing injured issue
Any word on Motley's condition after the game and more importantly why he was put back in. Also anything from the O Line about the abandonment
Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

Hokie Nation got rave reviews from recruits, commentators and the Twittersphere for the electric atmosphere vs Ohio State on opening night. It was pretty cool to see. However, I was pretty surprised when I cut the Pitt game on last week because the North End Zone looked so empty. "North End Zone is the party zone, what's going on?" Then I saw the SEZ and that placed looked deserted. I'm not used to seeing that.
Week 5 Results
{thanks brooks for getting them up to date and out quick.)
This week's best/worst:
brockman_148, historyhokie, Hokie1289, paulpetera, popbrmo, RealDiehl, all with a solid 5-1 on a very hard week.
HokieinJax went 0-6, but hey at least you were consistent.
OK, this is just speculating but how much do you believe the injury to Brewer changed the season? In the OSU game, you could feel the air go out of the stadium when he went down. I believe we would have one or two more wins if he had played. Give your opinion.
I was just poking around the Hokiesports shop and found this gem. Have we officially announced blackout jerseys for the NC State game, or has that just been a rumor up to this point?
Not knowing the extent of Motley's injury makes this hard to speculate but who do you think will start Friday? It seems like Motley has lost the O-line and maybe the locker room after he was not helped up off the field, and Brewer is still rehabbing so he is not a likely possibility. So who is next, Lawson or Durkin? I would say baptism by fire for Lawson, since he has been touted as our QB of the future and we have already burned his redshirt I say get the kid in there and lets see what he has got. If nothing else he is large and can take a few lumps that the o-line seems to feel our qb's need this season...
Thoughts?
Nike Unveils Lewis & Clark Uniforms for Oregon Ducks
I officially am a uniforms-only fan of Oregon now.
Ok before you crucify me, I would not want Dabo as a coach, but after watching the Clemson came last night and watching the on field post-game interview below, it got me thinking about a few things...
French does a great job with his game previews and reviews every week. He breaks down the Xs and Os better than almost anyone I know who's not a coach or former coach. Much like everyone else on TKP I appreciate the effort and work he puts into keeping Hokie Nation informed. But as helpful as a level headed film review can be to explain why a certain play broke down or was successful, there's also some things that happen during a game that can't be attributed to a certain technique, allignment, or play call.
I want to address a few of those intangibles and get some feedback from my fellow Hokies. Part if this is venting but mostly I'd like to hear y'all's opinion and see if maybe others feel the same.
I stumbled across this chart Sunday morning. Its author, Sharon Katz, is an analytics writer for ESPN Stats and Information. The chart is based on ESPN's FPI.
Not quite what we expected in the ACC Coastal, right @aadelsonESPN and @DavidHaleESPN #TobaccoRoad pic.twitter.com/vYNUjo282A— Sharon Katz (@skatz23) October 4, 2015
Brace yourselves.
2014 Opponents: William & Mary, Ohio State, ECU, GT, Western Michigan
2015 Opponents; Ohio State, Furman, Purdue, ECU, Pitt
Let's first get this out of the way that this is NOT an anti or shitcan Beamer thread. I myself have stated multiple times that I want him back for Bristol next season (provided he truly changes things). There are number of members on TKP that are in various managerial, supervisor and leadership positions (or have been) at there respective places of employment. But even if you're not; say you're the AD at Tech. After these two losses you decide to have a meeting with Beamer. What would you say to him? How would you communicate to Beamer in a method that would cause him to change his current course?
This is not a "who would you pick to be the next VT coach" thread. Those have their place, and are great "what if" conversation starters. But I think you will agree with me that our situation is a little beyond what ifs.
So who might actually be available, either because they aren't working out at their current school/team, or because they would have interest in a promotion to a P5 school?
It's time to look to the future. Who is realistically available?
Serious question. Which team has a new head coach next year for the game.....VT, UT, both or neither??
Did the awesome DBU and Sacksburg t-shirts put a jinx on the team. Our secondary players are dropping like flies and our stud D-ends have zero sacks. Somebody please come up with a new TKP t-shirt design that counteracts this bad mojo and gets us back in the W column.
Is Howard's Rock/Running down the hill the most overrated entrance in college football? I think it's kind of dumb.
So as most of the other threads today are talking about CFBs Demi's and when he should I don't want this thread to turn into that.
Firing a coach mid-season is disrespectful IMO, especially to someone that has built the program.
So understanding that that is not happening this year where do we go from here. The good news is GT is already 0-2 in ACC play and still have to play Clemson and FSU. So I don't think they'll win the coastal which gives me some solace. I don't know what games we will win from here on out. To me they are all 50/50. I can see every game going either way. The Coastal is a total crap shoot right now and I think UNC may be the team to beat in the Coastal as it stands now. *shudders*
go for it
I was going to write some stuff here but I'm afraid I'll use too many expletives for my point to come across.
edit: Honestly there's nothing else I can add that hasn't been said already, so I'll just leave this:
It's hard to believe how far we've fallen. When talking about, "Who is the real #1 team", VT is being used as one of the examples of how OSU hasn't beaten anyone of substance. Corso just said, VT is 2-2 and lost to ECU! And then paused for effect.
Sad to see us as just another team...
This is an awesome new development, by the same team which began the program which now is essentially the standard for rating helmets.
The plan is with Wake and Brown to track 6 teams for peewee players all the way till Middle School and examine the future of the sport.
Awesome to see VT taking the lead on the necessary research to make the game as sustainable as possible, and at least establish base line numbers for the diagnosis and potential prevention of life crippling disorders.
