Man crush on Brewer

I have been a VT fan since I attended the university in 2002. I have gone through Bryan Randell, MV2, Sean Glennon, Tyrod Taylor and Logan Thomas. Everyone of these QBs took a bit of time to gain faith in them. Michael Brewer came onto the campus in May, won the starting job with one week till the season starter, and by the second quarter of the OSU game, I have never felt more relaxed with a QB at the VT helm. Compared to Logan he's a shrimp. Compared to Tyrod he's a sloth. But to me he's just so relaxed and under control that it rubs off on me (no homo) and I love it. In only two games he's become one of my favorite VT QBs. Anyone else feel this sentiment?

Thoughts on players and the game

I thought JC Coleman was appropriately used and performed well in his touches, finally. He wasn't used up the middle or anything like that. Was happy to see the way he was used.

Was a little surprised that Marshawn got so many more carries than Shai especially after last week. However who knows how practice went this week between them. Even though there was really no running room up the middle for anyone I thought they still ran strong. Still took a couple f defenders to get Marshawn down each carry.

Is Virginia Tech in the Play-Off Picture?

After dominating the Ohio State Buckeyes in their home field, ESPN is changing its tune by putting the Virginia Tech Hokies in the NCAA playing picture. While it is great to be in the playoff conversation, the Hokies are better off focusing on the next game instead of listening to the hype.

Need the same level of intensity this weekend

I loved last Saturday night. Everyone is still talking about it and rightfully so, but I hope the team has moved on and has shifted its focus to ECU. We are a very young team and I'm sure they are still on a high. The team's leadership (Brewer, Maddy, Jarrett, etc.) has to bring the team back down to earth and get them ready for ECU.

ECU is a very solid team and can knock us off if we're not ready. Especially for a noon kickoff. Lane has to be rocking and we need to jump on them early!

Double Eagle Scheme

Not sure if you fine analysts on TKP plan on doing it, but would love to get an analysis on the Double Eagle scheme Foster used against OSU -- you know, the usual pro's (is it always good for option-style attacks? If so how come we've never used it before against GT?) and Cons (if you were the Urb, how would you have exploited our D).

Thanks!

My Favorite Offensive Stat

This year Virginia Tech has scored every time we've made it into the redzone. If I recall correctly (please correct me if wrong):

  • 3 TDs and 2 FGs from 5 redzone attempts against W&M
  • 4 TDs from 4 redzone attempts against OSU

I've never seen us so efficient in the redzone.

Eleven Warriors Statagram of The Game

They do good stuff over there. Obviously I can't C&P their material, but it's definitely worth a look if any of you want to follow the link.

I'm really impressed by the data -- we were killing it on 3rd downs (9 of 17) and in the Red Zone (100%, all TDs).

Oh what a difference a year makes, in terms of healthy personnel, experience with Loeffler's system, on the execution of said system.

Random thoughts about why the Ohio State win was special—in no particular order of significance:

1. It was great being the unranked team that upset a top-10 team and nationally recognized program. Remember the times that we either started in the top 10 or climbed our way back there only to lose to someone that we shouldn't and dash our hopes? The only time that I can remember it not being a total disaster was the ACCCG vs. BC when we got revenge on Matt Ryan and co.

This was was much more satisfying. And fun. And will live in VT lore for years to come. Call it what you want: a reversal of recent misfortunes, a statement game, etc. It was just awesome to see a complete game from a TEAM. And every facet contributed. Bravo.

Kendall Fuller's Injury Status?

Hey guys has anyone seen or heard the status of some of our players? Specifically Fuller after he was helped off the field, and is Facyson good? They may have not reported injuries yet, but just seeing if anyone was in the know on the injury front. Thanks. Go Hokies

I'd love to see some of the videos or pictures available from the VT Section in the Shoe. Please post if you have any!

Something special is happening in Blacksburg

After about an hour of jumping around, fist pumping in the air and singing hokie hokie hi, I realized something special happened tonight:

1. Our team went from boys to MEN
2. Our AD is a catalyst for us to be apart of the Football Playoff and he GETS IT
3. We believe. The team believes. The coaches believe. We have something special happening.

All I know is this is just the beginning of what this team can truly do. Ask anyone who was in Blacksburg last night, something is different.

What did you see special happening last night?
