Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
I was thinking about this topic before the ECU game, so it's not reactionary.
But how would you prefer to schedule the OOC games?
I actually like the idea of FCS, group of 5, and power 5.
Since there's no college preseason, that's what we can use the FCS game for. So of course, it needs to be in the first two weeks. Plus, if we stick with either Virginia FCS schools, or those within a certain radius, we can pull in a decent fanbase. I know I'm looking forward to the Richmond game in 2021 since my wife went there.
With the group of 5 school, it shouldn't be a long term deal. Let's rotate it around.

After my encounters with the younger ECU fanbase today, and in 2011, I'm convinced we've found a new team to have an unbridled hatred for.
I pray to whatever deity will listen that we can remove them from our schedule and never play this series again.

I remember three years ago, we were playing ECU in the second week of the season. It was a late afternoon game on Fox Sports Net.
I was at the Richmond NASCAR race, with a satellite set up, waiting for the game to start. The game kicked off, but we couldn't see it because Iowa/Iowa State was running late. I was annoyed, because of all the work it had taken to get the satellite ready, and it was a regional sports network, why couldn't they go to our game?
So, this year, Iowa/Iowa State is immediately after VT/ECU, and our game takes 4 freaking hours....so the Iowans had to either wait to go find a computer.

Use this time and space to discuss your favorite meals for gameday. I've heard people talking about rubbing their butts, roasts, and other meat parts early on Saturday mornings. Include recipes if you feel like it and what you use to wash it down before, during, and after the game.

Classic trap game! Coming off a big win followed by a noon kickoff. Let's all be honest with ourselves, who was thinking playoffs before the tOSU game? What we have here is a great learning expeirence for this young talent we have to respect success. The season is far from over and we can still win the Coastal and challenge FSU/Clemson/U of L for the title.
We slept walk through the first half and kept them in it in the 2nd. You can't do that with a team as good as ECU. We'll be fine and if I was y'all I'd start buying tickets to Charlotte. GO HOKIES!!!

We knew that this was their big game. We knew that they were gunning for us. I expected us to come out flat but not in such a big way. Say what you will about us being unprepared, and to some degree, I would agree with you, but this team at least showed some fight and was able to come back to tie with some very young talent. That last defensive series was a nightmare, and it seemed doomed from the moment the kickoff went out of bounds. All they needed was 3 to win, and getting the ball at the 35-yard line was essentially game over.

So what? We lost. We had the worst first quarter imaginable, and we still had a chance to win in the fourth. At the beginning of this season we didn't expect to win a national championship, and now I don't expect to win a national championship. I am still ecstatic about where this team is headed. We never gave up, and we stepped up in a big way, made the proper adjustments, and got ourselves back in the game. Once again, true freshmen stepped up to make big plays. I couldn't be happier about the talent our coaches brought in last year.
Am I super drunk? yes. But lets not let one loss befoul the season. We're still looking good. Proud of our team for not folding when they could have after the first quarter.

ESPN had the graphic that this ECU game was the first time Tech had been down 21-0 in the first quarter since 2004. I went back and looked at the 2004 schedule, and there were only two games in which the opponent even got 21 or more points -- we lost one to USC, and beat UNC, but in both games, the opponent only scored 7 in the 1st.
Ah...found it, it was the GT game in 2006. GT got up 21-0, before we punched in a TD with :20 left in the 1st.

Two ways to watch. I would recommend watching via WatchESPN as it will provide the best quality.
1) Go to WatchESPN.com
2) Click on Remote Access
3) It will ask you for your provider. Select Xfinity/Comcast
4) It should then take you to the Comcast login screen. Enter the following:
Username: VTFootball2014 Password: Hokie4lifE
(password is case-sensitive)
5) Once you click ok/sign-in, you should be redirected back to the WatchESPN website where you should now have access to the game. All you need to do is find it and click on it. Enjoy!

Not necessarily Billdozer standards but hope everyone still enjoys it!

I've got a few aggie friends and wandered over to txags.com to see their reaction to our game last weekend. Two quotes in particular caught my eye:
Bud Foster's D has taken a giant dump on the ole Horseshoe
3rd and long. Drop 8 and hope the qb misses or be Bud and bring pressure.
Bud Foster rubs one out to Pressure.
And just for fun, here's another couple from tidefans.com:
This VaTech QB is impressing the heck out of me right now. He has made some seriously clutch throws.
and saving the best for last:

SI published an article today about Brewer and how he's been thrust into the spotlight. So many great quotes in this story
"I said something along the lines of I'm ready to go ahead and do this and win a lot of football games here, and he jumped right out of his seat and came over and gave me a hug," Brewer said. "I was like, 'Did Frank Beamer just do that?' The Frank Beamer just jumped out of his seat and gave me a hug for committing to his school. How many kids have sat in this chair and committed to coach Beamer over the years? And he still gets up, comes over and gives me a hug?"
