Despite the optimism in VTs camp, the Hokies seem to have many doubters.
I am Lane Stadium

Pretty cool video of the "voice of Lane"
FOX Sports Ranks VT's entrance at #2 - caption is of Scott Stadium
Clicked the link just to make sure we were on the list and noted that we were #2. I immediately noticed that the stadium wasn't Lane, and was in fact taken at LOLUVA. Funny thing is there are more VT fans than WHO's. Cannon fodder...

Coach Frank Beamer to be on SiriusXM 91 "First Team" (9am)
CFB will be on SirusXM 91 "First Team", show runs 7-10am EDT. I expect he'll be on the 3rd hour based on the way they listed their guests. I will post any pertinent comments or updates (as I see them), and try to record it so I don't miss anything (must catch all the coach-speak). This show is hosted by Greg McElroy (of 'Bama QB fame) and Taylor Zarzour.
Ronny Vandyke
So I haven't heard much about him so far?
Anybody else?
I mention this, because of the picture on the front of the Roanoke Times sports page, seeing him in comparison to the other players on the team. He's a big dude, I didn't realize exactly how big he was until then...
So what's the Buzz?
Just a little VT throwback
Have you ever seen anything like this?
According to Marshawn Williams, Marshawn Williams is 225 LBS
I'm thanking god for the position I'm in everything is on the up and up (225 today let keep it like that) http://t.co/0DSTK6Btvk— Marshawn Williams (@RunJuice42) August 10, 2014
It didn't take too long for Williams to get to Frank Beamer's goal weight for him.
OL Augie Conte, Wyatt Teller, and Laurence Gibson Won Excalibur Awards
This was posted on HokieSports.com Camp Confidential: 30/30/30 Blog earlier this week.
How difficult is the Excalibur Award to obtain? The actual grading scale was created from test data collected from college and pro teams. To receive the highly competitive and esteemed Excalibur Award, the player must average in the top eight percent of the chart (superior level) for all tested criteria.
The trio became the first Tech football players to earn the award since former standouts Marcus Davis and Joey Phillips received the honor in 2012. They became the first offensive linemen to earn the honor since Brandon Frye won it back in 2006.
Braxton Miller misses Ohio State's first scrimmage: Will he be healthy?
Per Andy Bitter's tweet earlier this afternoon:
Something to watch RT @AriWasserman Braxton Miller told the media that he's 100 percent today. But he isn't. http://t.co/u2keez665v— Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) August 10, 2014
Miller had shoulder surgery after he took a physical pounding against Clemson in the Orange Bowl and apparently has not been fully participating in practice in their first week of fall camp.
Robert Brewer's take on his son, Michael.
I thought this was an interesting and most likely accurate take from Robert Brewer, Michael Brewer's father.
Hell underwhelm you. Ill tell you that right now. Hes not big and hes not fast. Hes got a good, little quick first step or two and he can get away from the rush and he does good when he flushes because he keeps his eyes downfield for an opportunity before he runs. He can make a first down with his feet, but hes a little bit oversold on being a dual threat quarterback. Hes just mobile enough.
This is what caught my eye the most and really made me think about how smart of QB Brewer could be.
Awesome LOLUVa pic from TSL

Bitter blog - Which Hokies freshmen might get on the field this season?
Johnny Manziel no match for the Fullers.
Corey just hauled in a 21 yard game winning TD to beat Money Manziel and the Browns.
On a side note Logan is 8-9 for 84 yards right now.
Good night for Hokies in the NFL right now, hope Logan finishes strong.

Bitter blog - Odds and ends from the Hokies' football media day
Big Lu with the best quote of Media Day
VT DB Detrick Bonner said DT Luther Maddy was slowest guy on a fast D. Maddy's response: "If I'm the slowest, then we're pretty darn fast."— Jimmy Robertson (@jrobIHS) August 9, 2014
Really looking forward to watching this defense fly around y'all.
Per Beamer: Travon McMillian is now a running back.
Alex Koma is covering today's media day in Blacksburg. The first surprising story of the day is that Travon McMillian has been moved to running back.
Frank mentions the #Hokies have moved QB recruit Travon McMillian to RB already— Alex Koma (@AlexKomaVT) August 9, 2014
Welcome to the world of pay for play... NCAA loses O'Bannon case
Judge ruled that the NCAA cannot legally restrict compensation to athletes. The door for college sports to become professional just got opened.
And for those saying this won't get abused and it's only for small payments to get by, she issued a permanent injunction against any overly restrictive restraints. Essentially, the door has been opened for athletes to negotiate contracts in college.
The age of amateurism is officially dead.
