I've been reading the Key Play for years now. Finally decided to join. Thanks for all of the great content.
Welcome you guys.
Glad you decided to register and join the community. Also, this thread has been gathering dust since July, thanls for swinging by.
Infinite Drunk Ron Swanson
is the second best thing on the internet. TKP being first, obviously. I love that guy though.
Hokie Hi!
New here. Been a TSL reader and infrequent poster over there for years. Looking for something new.
Like what I've seen of TKP so far.
and I like your avatar.
Come enjoy and join in.

Finding TKP
Has been like finding an oasis in the Sahara. Thought all of the in-depth coverage like TSL would cost me and I refuse to pay for information that ought to be free. Looking forward to many happy years of reading the comments of Hokie faithful and soaking up the analysis of those with the time and experience to do it right.
^Seconded
I can honestly say TKP has made me a smarter football fan. Lurker since '11, commenter since today.
Like others here I have been reading TKP for a while but never commented. The only question I have is if someone responds to one of your comments, is there anywhere that it notifies you of this? Also, Dozer's video analysis is amazing.
If you use the "what's new" button, sort of.
"what's new" will tell you which articles have new comments, however you'll have to see for yourself whether or not the new comments were in response to yours or not.
You can go to your Profile and then hit "Recent Comments". It will list your comments in reverse order of when you posted them. Then hit the comment you were curious if anyone responded.
I like that it only took 6 years and 1 month to get an answer to this
It goes without saying, but we'll say it anyway in a gif
Hello All
Glad to find this place.
TKP
This website is great, there are some very intelligent football fans on here offering some excellent game analysis, hardcore fans but realisitc and reasonable, not to mention the humor present in good times and bad. Thanks to everyone for posting thoughtful comments and not ripping mine to shreds like on the ESPN boards. Glad to be a Hokie!
Welcome. Let's hope that the last couple of weeks give us something to get excited about
(...like Wyatt Teller announcing he plans to be the starting left tackle next year. SHABOYGIN!)
Teller at Left Tackle
That guy is beast and it would be amazing for him to really deliver for us.
Former student, Lifelong fan
hey all, been reading tkp religiously for about a year now. brief intro, went to tech for a while to study mechanical engineering but couldnt keep the grades. right now i'm going to school online to get my degree and plan to join the marine corps after graduating. in my short time at tech i fell in love with the program and what it stands for. though i may never get that vt degree, i will always be a die-hard tech fan, through highs and especially this year lows. at the end of the day i bleed maroon and orange just like my 66,000+ brothers and sisters every fall saturday night.
Reader since the Spring, Posting for a few weeks
As a VMI guy I went to Tech every possible weekend I could to visit with 3/4 of my graduating class from High School. Never attended a game, but hoping to remedy that situation next season. Love the insights and FrenchWasp is ridiculous. He made an offer in jest to coach at a discount, but it would be an instant upgrade anywhere on the offensive side of the ball. Thanks for what y'all do and for keeping this free!
Embedding Images
I'm glad to finally be apart of TKP community, I just have one question. How do you embed images in a post. I'd love to enhance my post with beautiful images I find online, but I'm not quite that techno savvy just yet.
Just click on "Show Formatting Help (images, links, etc...)" underneath the Comment box. That should get you right.
PSA Y'all:
If you're tired of this next to your name:
setup and avatar, details are at the top of this thread.
Finally got around to doing that.
thanks for the PSA...I guess I've on here long enough to stop being generic...
I've been on for a long time but rarely posted. Located in charlotte and enjoy beer, bourbon, and fried food.
I updated my avatar to James van der beek crying because that's how I felt after the last week that we won't speak of.
I went with smiling and a thumbs up cause I felt that's what this site needs right about now.
I went with a pic and name that this site absolutely needed.
It's been 4 months and no one has made a "it's not what this site needs but it's what this site deserves" joke yet... I'm disappointed, TKP...
It's not what this site needs, but it is what this site deserves.
I've only been following for a couple weeks now and been a member for less then that..but this site is the best forum I've been on for Hokie talk!
I' glad to be aboard folks
Great movie, Kubrick really was something else.
"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!"
Long time lurker, but recent member. Love this site for news, knowledge, and laughs. You guys are the best.
Love this site. Finally decided to sign up. Sat through the VMI-VT frozen tundra game of many years ago at the tender age of about five. Been going to VT games ever since. Go Hokies!
Turkey leg for signing up, but...vtpoop? With Skipper as the avatar? Explosive...
You know it. If I'm not the the smartest guy in the room, I can just clear the room. Not a bad skillset to have at times.
Hi all! I thought it was about time for me to sign up and start spreading my wonderful analysis through the intertubes.
Kudos for persistence in making sure you hit every topic on this board.
I finally decided to sign up after lurking for all of last season. This is a great site! I am constantly amazed at the level of analysis. Keep up the good work fellas.
Been lurking for a while and finally decided to take the plunge. I'm proud of how level headed most of our fans are and this seems to the best concentration of those types.
Looking forward to some fantastic Turkey Leggage!
Boom, there you go.
Enjoy a delicious and surprisingly low-calorie digital meat stick. Welcome to TKP.
I know what you mean, not sure this is a good way to refer to it though...
Double entendre fully intended, for no reason whatsoever except I found it funny as I was typing it.
Hey guys? Any fellow 07 grads?
Woo woo! (yes)
I'm an Oh Sevener - Just shy of 3 weeks on here as well!
VT '07 right here!
I'm so thankful for thekeyplay. I have read articles on here for years, but never thought of joining. Being down in South Cacalacky now, I am a long way from the VT fanbase. When I lived in Virginia, every workday was filled with hokie talk. This site has become my home away from home and I appreciate how intelligent the posts are. Like others have said, I watch Hokie Football in a whole new way since joining. I look forward to sharing many more wins and crying with you all in (hopefully fewer) losses. So happy to be here.
No better way to celebrate the 10th consecutive Commonwealth Cup victory than joining TKP
Welcome!
New (sort of) member here. I actually registered a few years ago but only stopped in to read the occasional article, never visited the forums. With TSL's recent demise I figured it was time to make the switch.
Welcome to TKP. Great articles, great people in here.
And even greater Mike London cop memes.
Time out.
Hey, keep the London Bridge where it belongs.
Yeah, I'd say it's doing a good enough job of falling down on its own.
Wasn't sure where else to put this, but I just hit the 100-leg mark. w00t!
Guess I'm gonna need a do-over on this one...
Test post
IT WORKED!!!!
Welcome to TKP. Enjoy!
I got my activation email today and am all set up.
I specialize in Virginia Tech Football and University of Kentucky Basketball custom sports figures.
I think a lot of the guys on here already follow me on Twitter (@prripper).
I have a '10 Pro Combat Tyrod Taylor almost completed and am nearing completion on a David Wilson from the BCA game against Boston College. Upcoming projects (graphics already created) include Jim Druckenmiller Sugar Bowl custom and everyone's favorite diaper-dandy, Marshawn "Juice" Williams.
Welcome to TKP!
Another idea, I have seen a lot/ a good amount of good thread topics but I can't leg em for them. Could we add legs for thread topics as well?
Hellooooo, Key Play! I've done a bit of lurking here, and thought I would make it official. I love the technical analysis, as many others note - great stuff. I'm looking forward to soaking up the site, and thanks for having me.
Welcome, Coach!
Welcome to TKP...Enjoy!
And welcome to TKP, where the internet gets... awesome-er
Why did it take me one month and four days to leg this?
I don't know, but I wish I could leg it again because of the rediscovery. Leg to you for reminding me. And RocketHokie needs to comment so I can give him another leg.
Haha! And I see I got ten turkey legs already. Sweet.
turkey leg for the gif with eva mendez in it.
*Turkey leg for 2 Fast 2 Furious GIF
What's up TKP? Just stopping by this thread to say hello. As stated in my signature, I'm a recent grad who has read the site for a while and decided to finally join in on the fun. Gotta get my football/Hokie fix. Looking forward to the season and plenty of info/joking on here. Go Hokies!
You'll do just fine here. Welcome!
I seriously envy your first game. Mine was ECU in 2008...
Yeah guess I got a little luckier in that regard. Don't worry - my last game as a student was us losing to Maryland - starts to even it out
We both have the same first game! Danny Coale catching that ball still gives me chills. I brought it up to a woman in work today after she said was a Nebraska fan.
This must also mean we must become friends.
Makes perfect sense to me. I don't think I've attended a louder game than that one either. I hope that changes some time in the near future
I think 2011 Miami has that one beat. Admittedly, I wasn't listening too closely after the Coale catch, as I had accidentally chucked my keys down the East stands.
My loudest moments in Lane Stadium (First game was 2008 Furman):
Yay been to all of these games!
This may or may not have factored into my decision to do my PhD - 4+ more years of Tech home games.
You're probably correct since mt last game as a student was when Danny Coale made a sick ass catch against Michigan to win the sugar bowl...
I was wrong. Your bookends are far worse than mine haha
Still bitter
Mine was 2002 Arkansas St.... Oh yeah, it was a doozy
Granted, my second game was 2002 LSU, so it kind of made up for it
Ha, that was my first game ever, too! Then my first game as a student was UCF where it became so lopsided that the HT Rats had to steal the UCF flag to wake everyone up again!
First game I remember was JMU 1999 (Michael Vick's first game where he flipped over a guy for a TD).
First game as a student was 2010 ECU. Because that was absolutely our first home game that year. We played NOBODY at home before that game. There was no rainy white out game in 2010.
jmu 99, my first tailgate in the burg. first game inside the stadium was 02 temple, pretty boring game iirc.
JMU 99 was my first too! Just me and my dad in the SEZ, such a special memory since he's gone now.
My first game was the one against ECU. Don't remember the year.
I gave you a T-leg,... BUT, NY Giants? What?
Long time reader and I just started posting. Then this thread popped up. Guess it was meant to be. I basically love everything about this site. I get a good laugh daily and my hokie fix in at the same time! It's perfect.
Welcome HooH8R!
So howcome gif's I try to put into the link think don't show up?
Don't use the link button, use the camera.
Hey guys, new to the site, my first game in Lane was in 2012 in the overtime game against GT. I have never been so horse like I was the next day.
My first game at Lane Stadium was thursday night vs Boston College. Pouring down rain, I was sitting in the end zone when Matt Ryan threw the game winning touchdown. What a terrible night. I almost never came back because I thought I was bad luck. Since then I have figured out its probably better for us if I stay at home and watch the game on my TV in the bedroom. Never lost in that room.
I suggest that you watch every game this season in your bedroom.
Starting with the OSU game. That'll be the real test of your room's power.
Hey everyone. I can't believe it took me so long to discover this incredible site! I've been desperate for more in-depth hokie reading material for way too long now. I'm amazed at the quality and detail of the content. Anyways happy to have made this discovery and joined the community! Go hokies!
welcome! have a turkey leg
LEGS ALL AROUND
I love it when we post awesome upvote gifs.

This might be my new favorite thing ever.
Any reminder of the 2003 Insight Bowl will never be my favorite thing ever.
Great gif, but why does the scoreboard say Green Bay on one side and Packers on the other?
And if the score is 0-0, who is winning? The Bears?
Lets get fishing! I mean throwing TD's or upvotes those will do!
Today is Tuesday. I drink on Tuesday. Today I drank on Tuesday and decided to post on TKP for the first time. GO HOKIES! Happy Tuesday!
A leg for you as I am also drinking on a Tuesday!
Here here!
for relaxing times on tuesday... make it Suntory time
Welcome +1
I also drank on Tuesday! A lot more than is considered socially acceptable for a Tuesday...

Hey guys! New member, long time reader. I really value the content everyone, including the regular commentators put out for the love of Virginia Tech football. Y'all make an incredibly enjoyable, yet civil online conversation that many of you already know is very hard to come by regardless of topic. It's an honor to participate in this amazing and vibrant community!
My first topic to throw out is in regards to my avatar/username. I'm a senior who recently moved out of the glorious collegiate debauchery that is and was PRC (Pheasant Run Crossing townhomes). I had the feeling through rumors and a little investigation of my own that the complex was built in about '95/'96.
Given the high frequency of '80's & '90's era topics, I figured this would be a great place to ask:
Do any of you have crazy/bizarre/interesting experiences there during your college days that left a lasting impression on you like I did? I've seen and heard the evidence of a pretty raucous partying history, and would love to here any stories or urban legends about that place, or neighborhoods nearby, that may have been lost on today's youth in the ensuing years.
Stay safe everybody and Go Hokies!!
P.S. Your GIFing skills are utterly brutal.
Welcome! Always psyched to meet longtime newbies. Love your signature.
Welcome!
Awesome partying stories, you ask? Well it goes a little something like this...
And man, we never did figure out what happened to that flamingo. Good times.
Haha, yeah I still have the benefit of it being fresh in my mind and still don't remember most of it...
Perhaps that's its true legacy lol.
So, um, VTGM?
Woof. Rough night for you that party, eh? The old gray cells took a real beating that night.
Yeah, about that flamingo. You sittin' down? Have a bourbon, I'll wait.
No, really, have a drink.

???

I remember one time me and the other cadets gang tackling the guy who pulled a knife at a frat party. Would have been a prouder memory had the knife-man not been a cadet as well.
Then there was the time I was delivering pizza, and a lovely young lady named Caprice tried to convince me with a slow bump & grind to give her the other pizza I had in the bag. I chose not to, because that pizza was for the last delivery of the night, and the girl on the phone sounded hot and promised all sorts of fun times for taking her order after we closed. I chose poorly.
The door opened at the next stop, and I was all like
And she was all like, "Hey baby, you ready to party?"
And I'm like,
Well she didn't take that well, and next thing I know I'm freakin'
So yeah, you could say a lasting impression was made.
Aside from the Foe Rensics thread, this (for me) is the most hilarious post of the day. Damn you for making my sides hurt.
^^^That was...amazing
I too have seen a knife or two come unsheathed. It's all fun and games until Crocodile Dundee shows up.
Long time reader of this forum, decided to finally register. Best site for Virginia Tech sports news by far. Been going to games in Lane since 1984 as a kid and seen the Hokies play all over the country, it's like a cruel disease to be a fan of this team some times, but I will be there to the bitter end.
Thanks for the hard work that goes into this site, it is much appreciated!
Welcome to you! I hope the discussions wil be as enjoyable as you expect! Leg up!
I've been lurking for way too long. I have finally registered for this awesome site, and am stoked to be a part of it. TKP is hands down the best coverage of all things Hokie. Thanks for the awesome articles, videos, GIFs, and laughs you've provided me over the years. I hope I can return the favor. It's Game Week! Let's GO!
So, one of my favorite times of the day is coming onto TKP and seeing a new article or a new forum post. However, when I got back from OSU, there were like 70 new forum topics and there is no way I can get to them all. Is there any way to clear the marker that says how many new topics there are? Having 55 new topics is getting real annoying.
go into forum and click football then it says mark all topics read and that will clear that out
Oh my god thank you. You have saved my sanity.
I never go into the forum and didn't know this was possible. Nice look
Been on board for a while but have not posted much, hope to change!
I've noticed that most of the posts I've put up today are not adding to my turkey leg total.
Joe is re-doing how the turkey leg count works. Didn't know he'd be doing it so soon...
That's the way it's working now, and expect to have a lot less (not just you, but everyone), come Monday morning.
I see the change...how is it now? Posts don't add to leg count, but votes do?
Correct, the only way to gain or lose them is from up and down votes. Also, I applied this new formula to all existing legs. In a nutshell, everyone has less now. It also takes 200 legs to start a new forum topic.
So what you're saying is that people have to EARN their legs and not just get them for posting 200 comments on the game threads, right? I'm also not a huge fan of the "hey, you're new! Here's 40 legs to welcome you to our club" thing, but that's just me. I like this change though.
I like it, cause it kind of gets everyone a get out of jail free card for their first screwup. Otherwise, there's chance that if someone makes the wrong joke as comment #1, they're never to be seen again.
Think of it this way, you just gave a guy his 20 legs so now he can be a downvote troll if he wants. Don't come in and kick the hornet nest and you will fit in. It's very simple.
I welcome everyone with open arms. There are some legitimate good posters in here who have stepped over the line once or twice in their time, so I have absolutely nothing against allowing a screwup here or there early on as someone is getting used to their TKP sea-legs.
If they're a jackass, they'll be voted off the island in the end. I just prefer a long leash until someone shows they deserve it to be short.
One of my first posts fell into that category.
On a side note, "archdale" left his last good post in this thread. Reads like this:
-His other three totaled -95 legs between them.
Been lurking for a few weeks and am happy to have joined.
My son is a first-semester freshman who, despite having been a casual sports fan to this point, hasnt missed a home game. He may not yet be a diehard but hes into it.
My one trip to Lane was fantastic despite the fact the Hokies trailed all day and lost late (ECU). Forgive me for stating the obvious, but what at atmosphere. Cannot wait to go again.
Anyway, my compliments on your program and your passion. Im all in, and even though I graduated from another college (many years ago), I am a Hokie.
Congrats on the Hokiefication! You and your son sound like great additions to the school and TKP community. Hopefully you get a chance to see a night game and experience "fans that are losing their mind!" and cause a mini-earthquake.
Ok, I've been here a while but I wasn't sure where to ask this.
Did the format of the page layout change? All the words are a lot bigger and different. Did I miss something or is my computer screwed up?
See here.
I don't see any contract information on the page so I'll leave my question here. I'm curious why my turkey leg total was reduced from several thousand to 730? Not that it matters but seems odd..am I being penalized for something?
http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2014/september/22/meta-turkey-legs-adj...
Thanks dude, thought I was being punished.
Go Hokies!
Followed the website for a while. Decided to join because I've got some pretty opinionated thoughts following the latest Pitt debacle. VT Grad from 2012. Too diehard to be healthy. Happy to be here. Go Hokies.
I've been following this site since I came across a reference/link to it on the FireBrianStinespring.com page a couple years ago. After watching the (mostly) intelligent and (again mostly) friendly debates over that time, and watching with the rest of you while Tech continues to play a head-scratching brand of football (if finding ways to lose, i.e., Clemson-ing is a thing, can always playing down to your opposition and immediately going away from what's working on offense [no matter who the OC is] be considered Tech-ing??) I thought it was (Hokie) High (yes...groan...I know...sorry) time I joined the conversation.
So, let me just say thank you for allowing me into the community, I look forward to it and hope that I can add something intelligent to the conversation.
Welcome!
Doesn't even have to be intelligent, funny works too!
Thank you!
I'm pretty sure that's nearly the exact opposite of what my wife said.
I really should have come here to say hello before ranting about the Pitt game as a first time poster.
So...Hello!
I've really enjoyed the conversations and I don't think I've laughed so hard at funny posts as I have throughout these threads. Best damn VT sports forum by far!
Welcome to the best place on the internet. Also don't be surprised if TKP makes your love for the Hokies grow bigger than it already is.
I don't know if that's possible, but I'm game!
I 100% agree with this, TKP breeds familiarity with the players and fans of this site. I actually like Most of you guys. :-)
Hey all how do you embed videos? Weekly weather report is looking very drab without them....
If it's a you tube, if you hit share, then embed and it'll give you the link to embed it.
finally joined after reading this site while in school and soon afterwards to get my Hokies fix...glad to be here!
I'm your 1st upvote!
Welcome!
Hi Guys!
I just thought I'd introduce myself to the "welcome thread." I will be doing some football coverage for TKP. I also will be hosting an afternoon sports-talk show on ESPN Blacksburg weekdays from 4-6 p.m. starting Monday, July 6th. If you have any questions or want to know anything about me, let me know!
Welcome and look forward to your insights and reporting.
Sweetness, more content for us TKP homers!
Welcome! Look forward to your coverage!
Hello TKPers. After a couple of weeks of reading and checking out the site, I am taking the leap. NOVA Hokie here, living and working in Tysons Corner, the epicenter of East Coast Traffic. 2011 Graduate and TOTs back gate king. Looking forward to learning more about the Hokies and hating on LOLUVA.
Delusional Ohio State fan here trying to do everything I can to feed my addiction in the off-season.
Only 1 month, 6 days, 6 hours, 25 minutes, and 22 seconds til kickoff!
Welcome!
Welcome! Love your username! :)
nice lead-in...
Well I keep reading that term over and over on here, so I thought I'd just run with it.
Ha. I like it. Btw, I definitely do the same thing over on 11W. Welcome.
Obviously I'm new here, but navigating the Football Forum seems a little clunky.
Maybe I'm missing it, but is there a way to get directly to the football forum in one click?
May I suggest possibly having a drop down under the FORUM tab that allows you to select the football forum directly without having to make two clicks?
Not a huge deal just a minor though, it's a great forum thanks for having me!
I almost exclusively use the "Tracker" button, takes you to threads that are active/have been updated recently.
I just wanted to say hello to my Hokie family. I've been an active reader for quite awhile and finally decided to register to TKP.
Thanks Joe and the gang for an awesome site.
Welcome!
Is it ok to post tickets for sale on this site?
Yes, just make sure to read the guidelines.
http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2015/july/13/2015-ticket-exchange-thread
There is also a thread that goes up for tickets and parking passes. In fact it is my favorite time of year, because then I know football is getting close.
Registering for The Key Play like:
I never quite thought of registering for TKP to be like the feeling of euphoric perversion one gets whilst illegally drugging women to take advantage of them sexually, but now I do! /s
Welcome!
I guess I technically joined a good while back but didn't stop by here to introduce myself. I have been checking out the site for awhile now and I must say it is simply the best for quality information and breakdowns. Also, I really like the users that I have seen in the forums.
I plan on posting here often during the season!
welcome to you as well! here's a turkey leg
Long-time listener, first time caller. Glad to finally be "official" here on TKP. See y'all at the tailgate on Labor Day. Go Hokies! Beat Ohio State.
Well played. Peas or Carrots?
Registered after 4 years of lurking. Readying myself to make the trip in a week to the promised land.
After being a lurker for a long time on this site I made the plunge yesterday and got my approval this morning. I am looking forward to seeing our recruiting pick back up. I have followed it for a long time but being on Twitter has been a game changer for me in terms of information. I hate to date myself but I remember when it was hard to find anything on recruiting even in the Roanoke Times.
Welcome to the Fam... have a leg! Don't worry about dating yourself, lots of us "old timers" here. :D

Don't forget to follow: @TKP_Recruiting
Whenever I hear someone use the phrase "date myself", I'm always reminded of this:

Didn't realize there's a thread for this. Joined this week. Looking forward
to discussing VT football with other Hokies.
Welcome! but you might be out of luck on football talk, we mostly just post Emma Watson gifs.
Good to me you at the tailgate.
Sounds like you haven't sobered up yet. :-)
Likewise, that was a good time.
How the hell do I never get to meet any of youz people at tailgates. I mean other then the fact that no one would notice a random white guy with a "Hello I'm Derek"sticker. Next time I am making a damn shirt with two fingers pointing to my username on here. Front of shirt: Beamer's Auto Garage Back of Shirt: Paid in Pancakes, Fueled by Dork Magic
Time for this white boy to get some street cred
This needs to become a tagline on a TKP sticker, magnet, shirt or something - leg for you sir
I am always in lot 18 on game day.
Maroon on maroon 4 door Jeep parked right at our tents.
You can ask for Egbert. The crew knows my handle.
Always welcome.
Hello, a few VT 1920x1080 wallpapers to say hello below. Apparently I need more turkey legs to just go make my own topic in the pictureboard, so throw me some bones if you enjoy.

Watching the UNC for scouting purposes
Ok, after probably a year or so of lurking, I registered today and immediately joined the Key Player's Club. I feel better now after consuming so much great content for free. French's analysis makes me seem smarter and that alone is worth the price of membership.
Yay welcome aboard! Have a leg!
Awesome. Let's keep it rolling
#TKPC330by3:30
New guy here, looking to talk foolsball.
Chances VT/UNC gets postponed or moved up?
Welcome to TKP, glad to have you.
There's a thread for that, multiple ones actually:
http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2016/october/4/state-emergency-declared-nc-anticipation-hurricane-matthew
http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2016/october/1/hurricane-matthew
So some of the guys on the /r/virginiatech reddit told me to come here to ask this question:
I am going back to campus next week and would like to park about 5 or 6 hours before the game so I can roam around the alma mater and look at what's changed around Blacksburg (haven't been back in nearly a decade). I wanted to know where I should park, the people on reddit didn't think the lots would be open that early. Where should I go to park early?
Yeah, most of the time, the lots don't open for game parking until late afternoon for a weekday game.
If you're looking at getting there around noon, then you want to go to the visitor's center and get a visitor's parking pass. Although, I don't know if they have any special regulations on weekday game days to avoid people from trying to beat the parking lots. The visitor center is right there near the stadium on Southgate off of Rt. 460. (It's one of those places I can find on my own, but hell if I can give directions.)
University offices will be closing at 2 for the game. The North End parking garage will be open for faculty/staff permits, but it sounds like those lots have to be empty by 3 anyway.
I'm thinking that your best bet would find a place off campus where you can just park on the street. I know for games last year, I ended up parking in the Draper Rd. neighborhoods on the street, and that never seemed to be a problem.
edit: Article for your reference
Thanks. I Was hoping to arrive around 10 AM and look around the university but if all lots open 4 hours prior then that should be fine enough for a quick trip to campus. Will also check Draper.
Well if you want to get here at 10, you would be able to get a parking pass from the visitors center that will allow you to park in a Faculty/Staff lot until 2 or 3
Slightly Relevant Question: If you get a parking ticket but don't go back for a few years, do they track you down to pay it, or is it just good kindling?
They'll send you a court date notice in the mail if you don't pay it on time.
Then you'll be charged with failure to appear if you don't go or hire a lawyer to go.
Then you could be charged with contempt.
My advice: pay the ticket.
I would also recommend looking for street parking on Green Street or Harrell Street. I lived on Green St for 3 years. Its as close as you can get to the stadium off-campus, there's a walking path to Washington St, and street parking is free and often available if you're early enough.
Just don't park in any of the lots on Green St or you will be towed before you can even turn the car off.
Thanks, this is probably the best option but I'll keep all the other options in mind too. Maybe I don't have to go that early, who knows. Took the day off just to visit there so my schedule is really open.
Green Street hooligans lot is where it's at. My favorite place to tailgate.
You could park at the cash Lion's club lot off Warren Street. Not on VT property so doesn't open late.
"some of the guys on /r/virginiatech" are wise
Just registered a week or two ago, posted for the first time today. Been a lurker on here for a few years, used to post every once in a while on Sportshoopla under a similar username. That forum had a pretty cool but small group of Hokies (Evan G Watkins from 247Sports used to post there a lot back in the day). Really excited about what the team has done so far this year and am already a huge fan of the CJF/Bud 1-2 combo. Looking forward to the rest of the season, 1-0 every week! Say hi if you also live in San Francisco!
Just registered a few days ago although I've been reading TKP for a few years. Don't know why its taken me so long to do so but next paycheck I'm definitely getting that TKP key chain bottle opener.
Welcome.
Hey y'all, it's good to be here. VT class of 99. Football season ticket holder since 2000, but I get to far fewer games in Blacksburg than I used to (kids will do that to you). I live in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Being in the ACC has been amazing for us with several local or nearly local football/basketball games every season. Looking forward to being a part of the community!
Go Hokies!
First post and he's got a key next to his name. This guy gets it!
Welcome! and happy to see you've already joined TKPC, thanks for your contribution!
Long Long Long time lurker been a Season Ticket holder w/other VT family here in Central Florida for about 3 years. Try to make it up to a couple games a year and always hit the "U" game when it's down in Miami.
Been on 247 for a long time as well and its the same boring arguments with "I'm right you're wrong"
Then officially, welcome to the TKP family!
They're wrong, you're right! Welcome aboard! I heard Fireman is looking for Florida friends.
Welcome and enjoy. I'll wave next time I'm down there for Disney. Tell Choppin Wood Jugs to come back soon.
i'll let her know, sure she's been busy @ UCF with all that Donald De La Haye stuff
Guys I'm here I'm here, been MIA for a long time and yes the De La Haye stuff has been a whirlwind.
PS : look who finally decided to show up ya bum
I joined the key players club almost 2 weeks ago. When will I get my bottle opener? I thought I would have gotten it by now.
I mail them every other Saturday and you joined right after they went out.
You ever thought about using Amazon for listing + shipping of these, or the t-shirts? Apologies is this has already been discussed. I did a quick search, but nothing too hard.
msmcfa, what are the chances I get my early Christmas present and W&M downs LOLUVa to start the season?
As much as I would LOVE to see W&M pull the shocker, I don't see it happening this time around. W&M has a new OC, a new QB (4 way battle), plus they'll likely be running a 3rd string RB out on opening day (1 graduated, 2nd is injured). UVA should be able to shut down the run and force W&M outside their comfort zone, making it tough to move the ball for most of the day. Sadly, UVA likely wins this game pretty easily.
Another Florida guy. Also been "Key Play creepin" for a while. I guess I'm technically a sort of convert, but we wont talk about my younger, dumber days.
Any Florida folks down as far as Naples?
Welcome to TKP, @Back2VT!
We're glad you stopped creepin in on us and decided to join in on all the fun.
Hey gang, Hokie fan in the miserable state of Illinois here.. found this place a few months ago and decided to join up, glad to have a place to get the VT buzz way over here.
Welcome to TKP! There are lots of out of state Hokies here, including myself (South Carolina). Take a leg and join the discussions when you feel so led!
I thought the state of Misery was to the left of Illinois?
I believe only geographically, the true misery is being linked with Chicago. ๐
Forgot to introduce myself when I joined last week but now that I have my freshly minted Key Play bottle opener it seems more appropriate.
Fun fact about me, when I watch Hokies games I use two TVs, one for the game and the other for running TweetDeck and watching all the game-related tweet madness. It's the preferred way to watch.
If you don't follow enough Hokies fans already, I'm @theAMofDC on Twitter. I promise to only speak in ALL CAPS occasionally.
I've been lurking around for a while, finally got around to signing up. A little about myself: Graduated AOE in 2011, got a job with Boeing shortly after, been living in Seattle ever since.
Almost didn't sign up after that Duke debacle. Glad to see the guys have some fight in them and that LPD isn't dead! Hopefully the D keeps improving and we can see at least 1 more shutout for Bud!
Nice. You ever make it to any Huskies games ?
I've been meaning to, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I've seen just about every other major sports team in Seattle though. Got season tickets for the new NHL team too.
Nice. Maybe we'll cross paths sometime man.
Anyway, glad to see you finally took the plunge and joined the BEST Hokie Hub around! Welcome! Tell your friends!
Thanks! Are you in Seattle or just the surrounding area?
If I'm not watching the games at a friend's house, I'm usually at Buckley's in Belltown.
I live in Spanaway
Been lurking here for awhile, decided to finally go full TKP in order to read French's film breakdowns.
First game was the first Thursday night game we lost to BC in '95...also known as the night of the Hawaiian Punch incident. Upon return to our dorm, a gallon of it rolled out of the fridge when my roomate opened the fridge door and it shattered. You cannot get Hawaiian Punch out of the white canvas uniform pants cadets used to wear.
Welcome new people to the club! May your drinks be strong, your Hardee's coupons plentiful, and may you never know what a loss to LOLUVA feels like.
I have been lurking around for awhile and decided to give myself a Christmas present and join TKPC. I am looking forward to reading the entire articles for TKPC members. Especially looking forward to the bottle opener.
I'm an old school Hokie as my college football Saturday's were spent watching Bill Dooley coach the Hokies.
Welcome to the isle of misfit toys
I can confirm...the bottle opener is sweet! It's been quite a conversation starter for me
Fucking lost mine in the move
Hey guys. Might of missed this but introducing myself. Love my Hokies and found this site. Great info and fun banter from what I have seen as I have been lurking. Can't wait to see what this crazy off season will hold.
It's off to a pretty wild start and we aren't even technically in the offseason yet.
Welcome to TKP!
Have been reading for years, but just joined. Looking forward to jumping right in!
I can't wait to start some cake vs. pie shit on here lol
Hey all. Long time reader and lurker. Been meaning to make an account for a long while and finally got around to it. Love my Hokies and love the community!
hi everyone Brad is one of the very best friends i've ever had and ever will have and his name has some fantastic anagrams and i'm very glad he finally joined tkp
There aren't many anagram permutations for Brad, the Drab Bard.
His real life Firstname Lastname anagram is Reportedly Beans

Enabled Err Typos
Belayed Rest Porn
Beaned Pelt Sorry

You forgot"
Arbd
It's what a pirate says when he's working on a large jawbreaker.
Must be early signing day for TKP!
Joe can 'croot!
But can he stop a mobile QB?
Thank God Joe hasn't lost the locker room!
Not sure, but I would say he IS efficient.
I am now 800% committed to TKP University!!! #respectmydecision
Am I doing this right?
But are you fully dipped?
I'm sorry, but it's actually committed to the University of TKP. You also forgot to throw no interviews at the end.. So is it cake or pie for you?
Fair enough, I will get it right when I recommit. Pie all of the pie!!!
The University of TKP University College
I'm actually disappointed the school changed its idiotic name. Looks like it happened this year. .
^^ All of this meaningful Hokie sports banter is why I'm fully dipped!
For those of y'all who are new and unfamiliar with TKPC, get fully dipped here: https://www.thekeyplay.com/the-key-players-club.
