WR Joshua Stanford on Kansas' Roster

Josh Stanford found a landing spot: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/big-12/university-of-kansas/art....

Stanford, who caught 40 passes for 640 yards for the Hokies as a redshirt freshman in 2013, was limited by injuries last season. His scholarship status is unclear, but he appears to be eligible to play right away. Stanford, who attended high school in Lithonia, Ga., was a three-star prospect out of high school and could aid a thin receiving corps.

This should make us square from the Corey Fuller transfer.

But don't think I've forgotten about the Orange Bowl, Jayhawks.

The Dude Abides

I think we got the far better end of that deal then

I'm bullish on Stanford. I really had high hopes for him here.

The Dude Abides

Me too. Something went off track for him last year, homesickness or whatever, and it seemed to impact his production drastically. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a very successful career.

Just look at the TD from Miami two years ago. That was awesome

The Dude Abides

It's a much different situation. With Corey, we got an above-average yet inexperienced WR at a time when the cupboard was quite bare. With Stanford, we lost a proven above-average WR at a time when we have a few more guys to lean on.

Of course, Corey went on to the NFL and made an impact at a time when the Lion's receiving corp was reduced by injuries, including one game-winning TD grab.

If i remember correctly, Corey didn't actually play football at Kansas, he ran track. Then transferred to Tech and played football.

pretty sure it was Kansas state he came from too.

Does anyone know what happened with him? I mean if you're unhappy, you have to make changes and I get that. It is confusing as to how Kansas will be any different. I liked his game and its a shame he didn't pan out here.

Yeah he hated Blacksburg but I feel Kansas won't be that different

The only thing Kansas has over Blacksburg is nothing.

Though it may not be an advantage, Dorothy would disagree.

Yeah, I'm completely confused. I knew he hated Blacksburg because he thought it was backwoods or something like that. I don't see how Kansas is better. Not to mention, as I said below, I thought part of his leaving the team was to focus on his music. Is Kansas football somehow less demanding?

If you play it, they will win.

Have you seen their record recently?

All of a sudden, I found myself in love with the world
So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding, dang my dang a long ling long....

Charlie Weis ran the greatest hustle in college football. He is clocking million dollar checks from 2 separate schools and hasn't coached in years.

Wow. I think that is the first time "hustle" and "Charlie Weis" have been used together since last call at Golden Corral.

The Dude Abides

Only person I know of who has been paid $23 million to NOT be a coach.

LMAO, 4 hours and this isn't green? Should have gone green before Charley could waddle to the buffet. Oh, wait...

"Coach Weiss, you missed last call at Golden Corral, what are you're options?"

A picture is worth a thousand words. A gif is worth a million.

Well seeing as they've won 12 games in the past 5 years....Yea....I'd say some part of that is less demanding

Good point. He'll have a much longer offseason to work on it.

If you play it, they will win.

I was hoping this stat would take the pain away from losing to them in the Orange Bowl...but nope, it's not really doing it. Still trying to figure out how we lost that one.

Lawrence is only about a half hour or so from Kansas City. It's not Manhattan (NYC), but it's much closer to an urban area if that floats your boat.

Lawrence is also a nice college town, not unlike Blacksburg. And probably hillier...believe it or not.

Kansas City is actually a really cool town - great food, shopping, has pro teams, good looking women, etc. Granted, I live in Des Moines, Iowa, so it is the closest big city to me.

KCMO is awesome. I live about 40 min from downtown KC. We love it. Some much good food, bbq, craft beers, sports and eye candy. Only that sucks about KC is the winter. It gets balls cold out here. Other than that I love the area.

I lived in KCMO for 5 years. Great place. Highly recommended.

Lawrence where KU is... Small town. But just so-so.

dang, I don't remember those old movies being so pixelated, but I guess people were just happy to see something in color

Hey, speaking of old movies in color, did you all know we nearly had a movie star for a coach?

He just couldn't get his lines to come out like he expected.

The Lollipop Guild will always get a leg up from me. First movie I ever saw and I still love it 58 years later.

Best of luck to you young man, sucks you could not stay as we are really thin at WR meow.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Good luck to him. I had high hopes at the start of last season but luckily we were blessed with Ford and Philips.

A leg, errr upvote, to @HokieHooAreYou for posting this. I wanted to post this but alas, i'm a newly registered member to the site.

Aww what the heck, legs to all (if I could)

Let's Go

HOKIES

I am also confused on how he is immediately eligible?

"I'm too drunk to taste this chicken" - Colonel Sanders via Ricky Bobby

I am too, unless he graduated in 3 years, I'm not sure why he doesn't have to sit out a year.

I am too. I think the only way it would be possible is if he got his degree from Tech, and I'm unsure if he did.

Hardship waivers?

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Join us in the Key Players Club

He already used a medical hardship waiver, his freshman year.

Don't see how he should be eligible without sitting out a year, unless he graduated.

He moved even farther from home so I can't see that being the case.

Maybe a hardship waiver since he is moving to such a shitty football team? Then again, he could have stayed in state and transferred to UVa if that was the case (and the ACC waived the 2-year in-conference transfer rule).

But I thought football was getting in the way of his music?

If you play it, they will win.

I thought so too from his twitter comments. Was hoping he'd have a "I'll be back" kind of moment.

Nope... Josh won't be back...

Let's Go

HOKIES

Me too. I was always high on him. I thought we needed to go to him more often. He was never happy here though. I don't know how happiness is in Kansas, but best of luck to him.

If you play it, they will win.

Hmmm, must be too much talent on our roster for him to compete. Kansas will be a good fit then.

Here's a great story on Stanford (hat tip to Andy Bitter for posting it on Twitter):

He got a degree, so he's a graduate transfer and can play immediately. Currently a walk-on, but can be awarded a scholarship that counts against next year's numbers.
