Gals and guys,
I want your feedback on an idea I had for a new TKP shop item: the TKP Swag Pack. It would be a combination TKP logo koozie and a TKP sticker or two. Is this something y'all would be interested in? Leave a comment if so. Also, what kind of koozies does everyone like? The ones you can fold in half, or the thicker variety? I was thinking the former, so it's easier to carry to a tailgate. Is one or the other a deal breaker?

I like the koozie (thinner and findable kind). What about one of those collapsible 6 pack coolers to go with it?
Also, I'm a hat guy. I know you can order hats through legacy, the maker of many of my Hokie hats, for a very affordable price and I think the minimum order is only like 16. Has there ever been consideration for a hat?
My wife would kill me if I got another hat.... but for a TKP hat, totes worth it

Koozie yes sticker not so much, haven't found anything to do with the ones I have now, but a window sticker YES!
If you slap a sticker on one of those vent cover magnet sheets you can stick it on your bumper without leaving residue when you go to take it off
I'm indifferent on koozie style. Stickers would be cool though. The sticker that came with my DBU shirt is on the back of my car, but I could put one on my mini fridge of many stickers.
I'd buy a tkp koozie either way. Indifferent regarding stickers.
I live in Florida, so I'd get the thicker kind of koozie. I don't find that the thin ones do much, but you're right, they're more convenient.
I've already got too many stickers that I have no use for.
Edit: I'm more amenable to the foldable kind if they're of good enough quality/thickness to keep a beer cold.
I would be interested but I have no preference to koozie style. I'm sure I can find an empty space for TKP sticker on my laptop.
I don't have a koozie preference, and would love the sticker option. I'm also a hat guy, and I'd second vtcivengr's thought of having a TKP hat in the pack as well.
I like the flat kind of koozie. I have about 200 of them but can always use 201.
Stickers don't blow my skirt up.
I am normally a bottle guy so I like the full bottle koozies myself
I'm with you man.
Also, KCCO
Agreed. I mostly drink bottles, and have plenty of can koozies.
window sticker
Stickers!!!
No love for koozies with magnets in them? :)
As for stickers, I usually get more use out of the window cling variety.
Dont think I've ever held s beer long enough for it to get warm!
I like the bottle size with a zipper.
Why can't we have a TKP key chain? Like seriously... other ideas TKP solo cups, flags, car flags, tailgaiting stuff! What do you think? Koozies not many people use in my opinion as I have a drawer full of them that never come out.
Thin koozies are cool with me. I like stickers too.
I think a bobble head set of the TKP staff could be a money maker. French could be the super rare collectors item.
FrenchThe Fifth Fuller could be the super rare collectors item.I laughed an unreasonably long time after seeing this picture.
The thin koozies wear out and don't hold around your beer tight enough. Idk if that is just my pet peeve or not.
Neoprene with the stitched sides are the best. They don't wear out and they keep your ICB an ICB!
Are you a professional beer drinker? Or maybe you just have really big cans (pun not intended?)
He's right. There are some notable quality differences among the thinner koozies.
Some of them aren't worth bothering with.
P.S. Maybe he has some friends with big cans. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Man I sure love big cans.
Water from cooler gets in koozie, koozie material stretches, koozie no longer form fits to beer. Why am I explaining my self to an amateur anyway? I'm well on my way to the HOF.
My dream swag bag:
1 thick can TKP koozie
1 thick bottle TKP koozie
1 maroon TKP pen
1 orange TKP pen
1 national championship trophy
1 gray TKP beanie
1 pair TKP sunglasses
1 cutout of Sam Rogers' angry face
3 pairs TKP boxers
3 pairs TKP socks
1 kindle pre-loaded with audiobook featuring Morgan Freeman reading Joe's tweets in his all-caps voice
Wait, what was item 5 again?
I think it's a gold-plated version of this guy:
So, this guy?
Other ideas (trying to think of things that I'd use in a public setting, so people would see the logo and ask what TKP is):
Water bottle/mug
Lanyards
Neck Wallets (the clear things that you put on your lanyard that can hold your ticket/fishing license so it doesn't get wet/folded up)
Coasters
I still think that keychain bottle opener would be the coolest.
Older Thread, Same Idea
This is going to happen.
Keychain bottle opener would be clutch. I'm still wondering if it is possible to make a keyplay key chain that functions as both a bottle opener as well as a noisemaker for 3rd/4th downs. Bonus points if it makes the turkey gobble sound in addition to the key jingle.
My bottle opener keychain hits the keys on the ring, so extra noise.
Or the keychain could come with bonus keys.
Here's my vote:
Stickers/Magnets - I prefer magnets for putting on the car or fridge. Window clings over decals.

Koozies - 1) Neoprene stiched 2) Thinner foldable 3) Foam thicker. I really like the jersey shaped ones that you can use on either bottles or cans, maybe us some of the TKP T shirt designs.
Key chain - I'm with Biomech_Hokie. A TKP keychain
Don't have much use for coozies. Stickers are always fun. My laptop and car can use some more. Hats or beanies are always winners. But what I, personally, really need is a flask with the TKP logo. You know, for the ass pocket.
TKP mesh hat. Please.
A koozie with a neck strap so that your beer can hang from your neck hands-free.
built in straw, too?
Stickers - OK...I can always find somewhere to put one.....
Koozie - I must have like 10 different kinds, but i don't think I've ever in my life used one.....If you need a koozie to keep your beer cold, you're not drinking fast enough.......
If you are not drinking a beer that is too good too chug then you are missing out on one of life's great pleasures...
Haven't chugged a beer in over 10 years. Still, enjoying at a normal pace, I have never had the use for a coozie.
Most ales and stouts aren't peak at fridge temperature, but the longer you can keep a beverage stable the easier it is to enjoy.
Yes to both stickers and koozies. I prefer the foldable ones.
Shot Glasses anyone?
A key shaped bottle opener?

I saw someone wearing the DBU shirt in section 3 this past weekend...cool shirts
Slightly OT: asked for TKP pint glasses as a gift and they're dope. Stoked to get a TKP sticker with it too! Foldable koozie and additional sticker(s) will be acquired if/when available.
I just realized these exist:
http://www.amazon.com/Insulated-Neoprene-holders-Beer-Tote/dp/B00PHKXM3K
those fit in your saddle bags?
Yes to both the stickers and koozies... Probably the most important aspect of this is to make sure the cost per item is as inexpensive as possible to make sure the goods act as a boon rather than a burden to Joe and the financing of the site.
Koozies and stickers are probably the most cost-effective and useful things I could think of for a swag pack, while still returning a decent ROI for Joe and the site. Hats seem like a popular idea too, but maybe should be a separately-ordered item marked up for profit?
Also, I love the circular, seal-like logo... I'd use it on all the goods!
Agreed a great site for Joe to check out is egrandstand.com a lot of breweries use them and they have quality product at a good price.
I see what you've done for mobile users.... I see it and I like it
Joe, I love the new buttons you made for mobile phones. That is absolutely clutch. I love you.
Thanks,
VPIhokieME
Yes yes, those buttons are game changers

ehh fuggit i'll check it later
Who has two thumbs and is the third member of the key players club and fifth on the turkey legs big board?
Not this guy, I have hooves. I guess that means nobody
First I turn on ACC network and we're draining threes to close out a game, and then I see this. It was a good day.
Sent from my iPhone.
Since a meta thread got bumped, I have a question Joe. What's the story with the new "give us money"-meter at the top right?
I actually didn't meant for that part of it to go live before I wrote a front-page post, but it's for The Key Players Club. All the relevant information is on the page itself: http://www.thekeyplay.com/the-key-players-club. It's what I've been working on for the last 5 months.
Thanks. I realized I could click the link after I posted that. Couple of questions. How does the payments work? I'm strongly against having automatic payments made from my CC, bank account, etc., because I will forget about it. I'd like to have the autonomy to pay once a year like I currently do, but not jump through the hoops of canceling a subscription if I chose.
If I read correctly you're getting rid of PayPal. Through what avenue will I be providing my financial information?
You've responded positively in the past when the idea of a subscription based website would hurt students/ broke folks. Will getting rid of the gold star/ pay what you can aspect hurt the website. If someone can give $10-$20 but not $84. Will that result in a net loss, and will you keep that option open?
These are all really good questions. I appreciate the feedback!
Payments are processed via Stripe. It's what TKP's online store has used for years. Also, no credit card info is stored on TKP's servers.
For those that want to give via PayPal at a variable amount, it can still be done. (With PayPal it's as simple as initiating a transfer to joe thekeyplay [dot] com. That's just how PayPal works.) Although it's nothing I'll mention on TKP, and more or less an undocumented feature. However, the only way to get the keychain bottle opener and other perks of The Key Players Club is to join via TKP.
I realize this will irritate some folks, but maintaining the gold star database was a pain in the butt because PayPal wasn't integrated with TKP. PayPal's reporting tools suck and I wanted to bring everything in-house.
My hope is a focused marketing strategy will appeal to more of the community and readers.
Hey Joe.
First, I wanna say that I'm KPC member lucky number 7!!
Second, I want to thank you for building an awesome website and community for all things VT. I really appreciate that your goal is to keep the site free. I'm glad that I can contribute to keeping it running so that others may have the opportunity to take in the awesomeness that is TKP.
Third, what happens when my CC expires? Will I have to put in new CC info every year that I renew a membership?
It should automagically work, it's a feature of Stripe that PayPal did not have.
God DAMMIT, Joe. You've stolen my chance to be the inaugural member of The Key Player's Club. Now I have to live with the ignominy of forever having HOAT's sloppy seconds.
Oh well. I'm still getting off cheaper than I was on PayPal, and I get a keychain.
Thanks for the response. Again I'd like to ask how the payments work. I clicked the link and it wants my CC info. Am I charged yearly, monthly, daily? Will the payment be renewed automatically, and can we at least get an email saying "Hey! We're billing you again"
Also is there a start date that everyone needs to sign up by and will pay at the same time, or do we just renew every anniversary of signing up?
From my personal experience (just today) when signing up the system tells you that it will automatically bill you annually the full amount each anniversary date, unless you notify the provided email address to cease future billing.
Your credit card is billed $84.00 immediately and is automatically renewed on your anniversary date. As of right now, you can send an email (info all on The Key Player's Club Page) to leave the club. However, I hope to remove myself from the process by this time next year rolls around, and have that as feature of the software.
Join the club whenever you want.
I am just glad you got rid of PayPal, as I have never participated, And would have given before if I did not have to do that or write a check.
