Six Pick Week 5

Due to Thursday night this will be a quick turn, but top to bottom this is the best week to date in College Football for the 2013 season. At least 10 very interesting and competitive games in Week 5. There will be upsets, hopefully starting on Thursday night.

This will be our first real look at Ohio State and while both the SEC matchups are probably better, this one has me just as interested. Stanford and Oregon look to be threat level ORANGE to the SEC dominance, with Ohio State and maybe FSU (step back Clemson) possibly joining them. If the Buckeyes can dominate a very solid Wisconsin team, they'll be worthy of their preseason rankings.

Thursday, September 26th
Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech -6.5 ~ 7:30 pm ESPN

• Before you make that "I hate that GT offense" joke ... consider the other Tech alternative
• Season defining game on a short week with little time for the defense to prepare for the flexbone option with a side of Pistol offense. What's not to like?

Pick: GiT covering. Trust me, I don't want to be correct with this pick, but the Tech Offense has troubles blocking, getting open, catching and passing ... often times all on the same play.

Saturday, September 28th
LSU at Georgia -3.5 ~ 3:30 pm CBS

• Les Miles between the hedges, means he has more than just grass to eat, but hopefully none of that DAWGSNATION explosion. That's gross
• It's been a couple of weeks, so it's time for Mark Richt to lose control of Todd Grantham. If i could, I'd rather lay my money on him losing his shit than on the game itself

Pick: LSU getting the points, winning out right with Les Miles shit eating grin on full display. The LSU - Bama matchup is gaining steam again.

Oklahoma -3.5 at Notre Dame ~ 3:30 pm NBC

• Tradition and name value > actual play on the field ... so in other words all eyes will be on Uncle Verne
• /Thinking of another bullet point .... nothing ... nothing ...oh ... why didn't NBC didn't make this a primetime game?

Pick: Notre Dame getting the points as a home dog ... I don't really have a valid reason other than the Big 12 sucks.

Ole Miss at Alabama -16.5 ~ 6:30 pm ESPN

• SEEEEEEE PAWWWWWWWWWWLLLL, THEM BOYSS RRRR CHEATTIN AN NOWL THAY BEING CAWT UP WIFF. DEM BAMMERS RRR GONNA LOOSE THISS GAMME AN AGANST AWBURN TOO
• Paul, yer like me, a genius, it takes one to see one. I know you understand Saban is going to fix this. Ole Miss is going to lose by 40, ROLL TIDE ROLL

Pick: Ole Miss getting the points. This isn't your Katherine Webb's Tide, but they are still the favorite to win it all. They have played up n down to the competition this season, so I expect them to be up this week, but 16.5 is a lot. Late Black Bears cover.

Arizona at Washington -8.5 ~ 7:00 pm FOX

• The Pac 12 is sneaky good, as of now the second best conference featuring a strong top two and a solid four team middle group. Can the Wildcats make it 5?
• Someone explain to me why the Seahawks get insanely loud and the Huskies don't? Someone should tell them, they are doing it all wrong

Pick: UDub laying the points. I'm all aboard this Huskies' bandwagon. I think they'll paste the Wildcats.

Wisconsin at Ohio State -7.5 ~ 8:00 pm ABC

• Two weeks ago the B1G Ten was looking promising, but losses from the mid level and close victories by the "elite" B1G Ten teams erased that thought. A tOSU loss here would be devastating to the conference
• OSU QB: Kenny Guiton > Braxton Miller ... so the Buckeyes have 2 boss QB's while Florida, Texas, OU and USC don't have one. Football is weird

Pick: Ohio State and the points, especially if Guiton gets more burn than Miller.
