The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

This pleases me

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

I'm not gay...but that man is gorgeous, and I'm talking about Vance Vice

"Not that there's anything wrong with that"!

I love how VV only has 1/2 a mustache. It's so nicely trimmed below the nose

It really accents his eyes.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Vance Vice is well qualified

Awesome! Looks like an immediate contributor once he's able to play for us (as a sophomore, I assume he has to sit out a year).

Now if we can just pick up a talented RB, DT and/or DB who fell behind on the depth chart at Georgia, Alabama or Clemson, I promise I'll stop sulking about our mass exodus of players. /s

Seriously, as a non-expert, Hoffman really looks the part to me. Love this pickup!

The doll's trying to kill me and the toaster's been laughing at me.

He's eligible next year and will likely start at center.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

What about Mega Jesus? Say what you will about his snapping I would miss him.

Next year as in 2019 or 2020?

EDIT: According to this article on TSL, he's applying for a waiver due to a coaching change at Coastal Carolina. Anybody know what percentage of such waivers are approved?

Pretty high. I saw an article just a few days ago that the NCAA is approving 80-90% of all waivers. Fields just got one and that was the weakest hardship waiver I can think of.

Could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's incorrect and he already has received his waiver. The CCU head coach stepped down (rumored to be for health reasons) and the NCAA determined that that was enough reason to grant a waiver.

From what I can find about the transfer process, it sounds like the waiver is submitted by the new school, not the old school, so since he just announced his new home I highly doubt the waiver was already approved.

It may be widely expected to be approved, but if there's anything I expect from the NCAA it's unpredictability.

Per this article on 247, Watkins is reporting he will be eligible to play after his finishes his spring semester at Costal.

EDIT: In addition, he played as a true freshman so he still has his redshirt.

Bitter reported that Hoffman is getting a hardship waiver due to medical issues that his mother has. He is from Statesville, NC so he is much closer to home at Tech than CC.

Brock Hoffman sounds like he'd be on Ron Burgundy's news team

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

That dude has some nasty swagger and it's awesome!

seems like a lot of bodies suddenly coming on board. What with the portal beaming some players away and McLease staying, anybody have a fix on the scholarship count. While we're keeping McLease we may want to help some guys beam out.

The LewDew, Professional Golf Bum

84 scholarships including Hoffman. Got 1 left, maybe for Jahad Carter, maybe for another transfer.

The numbers, man...the numbers.

Reel men fish on Wednesdays

The numbers do always work out. I bet we are going to be looking at a number close to the one we have this year in the transfer portal next year. We only have 6 seniors on scholarship. Our recruiting needs are way more than 6 scholarships worth + the remaining one. I'm sure some/quite a few guys are going to be encouraged to see what's on the other side of the portal

We're due for at least 2 early entries. Dewayne Lawson and Drew Harris will forego thier senior seasons after a 3-way race in the Heisman voting that will ultimately end with Big Play Tre Turner winning the coveted award.

It could happen. That's my typical season on NCAA football.

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

I just had Big Tim finish his r-Sr season winning the Heisman, averaging 3.5 sacks per quarter, 2 FF/g, 1 FR/g, and leading the nation with 7 FumRec TDs and 21 PR TDs

Never Forget #1 Overall Seed UVA 54, #64 UMBC 74

21 PR TDs

I may need to dust off my copy of NCAA 14 (and update the rosters) just to witness this magic firsthand.

That dude plays with some serious attitude. Something this team has been missing on the OL

So we traded Denmark for him.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

Join us in the Key Players Club

Fair trade, methinks

Dude, Denmark is a whole country.

Hoffman is like, only half a country on a full stomach.

Wait a minute....

So there was only one thing that I could do
Was ding a ding, dang my dang a long ling long....

Love this for multiple reasons. To steal a Buzz term - clearly an OKG. Immediately eligible and I believe (could be wrong) will start.

I also think the O line recruiting of verifiable young talent has other recruiting benefits. Most notably I think it helps (clearly not the only thing or the biggest thing) our ability to attract more top tier RB talent and QB talent.

I feel good about our chances in 2020 for top talent here. Don't think we aren't showing those top skill players the serious investment in talent we are putting in up front.

I think this guy is a straight mauler and we need that on the interior (hopefully center).

someone project our starting offensive line

Darrisaw, Smith, Hoffman, Harris, Dzansi

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

There are wolves and there are sheep, I am the sheep dog

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

Based on my untrained eye, he looks like an immediate contributor. Love the commit more with QP under center...I'd imagine that offense would have elements of the Logan Thomas Experience so having some hosses in the interior line for QB draws and inverted veers is promising.

Dang he looks mean. NC to VT?

Coastal Carolina is in South Carolina.

Seems a perfect match for Vice.

This kid has that DOG in him. Plays to the echo of the whistle, love it!

I realize Coach Bennett got fired long before Brock played there, but I can't think about Coastal Carolina without thinking of these videos.

I spoke with Brock yesterday, and it was one of the most insightful interviews I've done. He's a very mature kid (makes sense given he's halfway through college). He provided a good look behind the curtain of what makes Vice so relatable. Expect it published this week.

I really like this signing, especially if he plays center. Reminds me of a move NC State did a few years ago brining in Joe Scelfo from So. Alabama as a transfer. Anchored the line and brought about the 1st 1000 yard rushing season for them in quite a long time.

Great point. Leg.

I know this isn't breaking news, but we've really struggled at center the last couple seasons, and it's produced a ripple effect.

With the talent we've had of late on the outside - think Nijman, Dzanzi, Glock, Darrisaw, Teller, just to name a few - we should have been able to rely on OLine as a strength, and we haven't. Think of the struggles with delivering the snap securely; think of the snap count issues - you get guys second-guessing or hesitating. Can't run the ball if not everyone is on the same page. Plays that start with the QB flailing around on the ground trying to recover the ball don't usually end successfully.

I'm certainly not blaming Zach Hoyt - or Kyle Chung, or Eric Gallo - for all our problems, but it's hard to be successful despite your starting center. It has to be a strength of your line. It's the case for almost every team that runs the ball well in the No Fun League. (Exhibit A: look at the Dallas Cowboys' OLine with and without Travis Fredrick.)

All this is to say: I LOVE this pickup for us. Between him and William Pritchard, we've put ourselves in great position to develop into a dominant line *from the inside out*.

You're the only ones that I can talk to about this, you guys.

I don't think I missed it, I'll drink if so... but Brock Hoffman? More like...
