Exactly - Killing Snow would be like killing off Danny. She's had so much time invested into her and hasn't really done anything important (as far as Westeros is concerned) yet.

Probably, and the potential bonus #s drop him lower... But for last year, he was the highest paid.

I miss Russ's nihilism, but that's just me, and I guess there's a lot more time for someone to do the same sort of stuff. Tonally, the show is still pretty similar, just lacks that cerebral horror that I thought Russ brought so well.

The crime is less exciting too - Naked woman ritual cult/pagan sacrifices > corrupt LA real estate deals. I mean, it's not even really a contest, but I guess the burning of the guy's eyes with acid was pretty hardcore. Jury's still out, I guess, but I'm definitely not as immediately grabbed as I was initially by the first corpse. We'll see where it goes. Probably didn't help that the corpse doesn't really appear until the last 2 min of the episode.

I also really liked the story telling last season, where it was the flash-backs via the interviews. Lets you really see the before/after of the two guys, and wonder how Russ is going to go from clean-cut sorta weird guy to trashy full-blown alcoholic. I was more than a little bummed that this one is going to be more of a conventional story structure.

So I guess my early impressions - not quite as good as last season, but plenty of time to change that.

Calculating the % of going undefeated gets really sobering really fast though if you don't fudge your numbers like they are. If you actually give the other teams a 30% chance to win one week, and a toss-up game with a rival, it drops to far too low a number for a homer to really feel good about. To me, this feels like they massaged arbitrarily assigned numbers to get the undefeated "we're the best ever" number somewhere closer to a palatable 50%.

"Last year it was all about the scheme. With quarterback J.T. Barrett making his second start, Virginia Tech attacked the Buckeyes with a defense that put nine players near the line of scrimmage and the OSU coaches said they weren't prepared for what the Hokies did on either side of the ball.

That won't happen this year. No surprises."

I forgot that Bud Foster wasn't planning to do anything differently this year. Too bad he's not a defensive innovator or anything, or else he could cause some real havoc with that talented defense. Also a fun note - they gave us an 11% chance of winning last year. [eye-roll]

D. Hall is coming back from a ruptured Achilles, and could easily have lost a step - there's no way he can be counted on at this point. And I more meant safeties. Those have been a disaster for the last 3 or 4 years.

Who bemoans him on the Skins? Regardless of your opinion of the Redskins, it's the perfect place for him to latch on - terrible safety (and dbs in general) for years, close to home... etc

We really could have used him the last few years... Our offense has been floundering without him.

I'll see myself out.

I feel like that metric needs to take scoring frequency into account (and not just win probability). That might help rule out agonizing pillow fights like the WF game. Also maybe track things like FG blocks, sacks, etc - big plays that might not show up in the box score, but make the game interesting. Adding bonus points for rivalry and that type thing might not be a bad idea either.

I'd still say one of my favorite VT games ever was the Miami one (4th and Logan).
