If what he is rumored to have said is true, if I'm Hilgart, I would not be in the same room with him again, ever, for fear of ripping his head off.
As long as Hilgart is not addressing X's and O's, I'd say it would be 100% within his role to light up players for lack of effort. He is a member of the coaching staff and part of his job is to make sure the players are giving their all.

Imagine the potential QB competition next spring if JJ takes a medical redshirt, we'll have:
JJ, 1.25 seasons of in game experience, 3 years with the program, 3 years eligibility
HH, potentially some game experience this year, 2 years with the program, 3 years eligibility
RW, in game experience with VT and Kansas, 1 year with the program, 1 year eligibility
QP, 1 year with the program, 4 years eligibility
First guy in, last guy out type, from what I heard...
What a costly trip to Norfolk this game was...not only to lose the game, but Hill for good, and Jackson potentially for the year.
