Agree to disagree. I'm a your vs you're nazi, but on Twitter I appreciate the value of saving two characters.
Sorry, but your argument is a losing battle. Twitter has its own culture and lexicon, part of which is playing fast and loose with grammar and spelling to get everything into the 140 character limit. Errant spellings are highly forgivable so long as there is steady content. In general, you want your Facebook presence to be well structured and highly polished, and your Twitter presence to be constantly generating content.
What in the world is there in Shreveport that is worth breaking curfew for?
Bud is no longer going to be a position coach.
Is that official? I've been out of the loop getting ready for Christmas this week. I know there's still a spot open on the defensive staff, but has it been made official that Bud won't coach any position directly?
People who complain about typos on Twitter don't know how to Twitter.
Technically, I don't think Festivus ends on TKP until Joe is bested in a feat of strength.
This.
Entertainment is entertainment, and we all invest a healthy (or unhealthy) portion of our time and disposable income on it in some form or another. I agree, there are gamers who have crossed into addiction territory. And there are Hokie fans who have done the same.
Just for clarification, was the head of the household wrestled to the ground and pinned?
If I'm outside of Islay, my go-to is Aberlour, though I've never had the really, really good Obans. Ardbeg Uigeadail is hands down my favorite scotch, though. It's like an Islay that grew up in the Highlands.
It's been years since I had a cigar, but I always preferred maduros.
I hope he does well post-VT. It was never his fault that Frank left him in the OC position way longer than he should have, and speaks tons about his character that he stayed with the program after stepping down as OC. I'm not sure whether the better career path for him would be head coach of a DIII school or a TE coach at a P5, though. He's obviously got a knack for turning out great TEs, and I'd bet the money's better as a position coach at a P5.
I just want the button that's worth -10,000 to actually be labeled "The Nuclear Option"
I think, ultimately, only he should have the permanent one-click insta-ban power, but it might be useful for me to have a quickly clickable "suspend" account
That would basically be the effect of setting your downvote value to an obscenely high number, right? You'd temporarily cripple an offender's account by sending him below -50 legs, but could instantly retract it by resetting your vote on the offending comment, right?
Excellent point. Even if I personally won't carry any angst from a loss in Shreveport into 2016, at the start of next season the narrative we be our first losing season in 23 years.
Sweet sheeba, how can you transition from bourbon to scotch? Don't get me wrong, I love both, but I stick with one when I drink. The tastes just don't mesh.
Then again, that might have something to do with the fact I mostly drink Islay scotch.
Judging a new football coach before three years doesn't lend itself to firm conclusions. Struggles in years one and two can possibly be growing pains as a new scheme is installed. Instant success with another coach's recruits doesn't tell us anything about a coach's staying power. I think we have to wait until the results in 2018 before we can have any kind of certainty about Justin Fuente as a P5 head coach, and his fit with Virginia Tech.
I have never had autocorrect change a name on me before. Very odd.
Nicely stated, sir. I don't think it was your intent, but what you wrote actually makes me more excited for what Fuente is bringing, as I think it fits the personality of VT really well.
I was just curious why you thought a system coach could do it faster. I fully expect to see 2014 Memphis numbers within three years, with the potential to see 2015 Memphis numbers if we get the right QB. My expectation is annual contention for the Coastal, multiple ACC championships, and an outside shot at a playoff berth if Fuente gets his guys.
It will take longer for him to field a top 10 offense than a "system" coordinator, but I think he has that potential.
This is interesting. It's the first time I've ever heard this notion. What he did in Memphis in four years seemed like it happened at breakneck speed, considering the absolute disaster the Memphis offense was when he came in.
So basketball is like Big XII football...
And hell, even if the defense does get mauled, our front four will be so different next season, with the loss of Marshall, Maddy and Dadi, we have no idea what the D line will be like next year. Could be better, could be worse.
Now if our defensive backfield gets torched, that's another issue. But I feel really good about Facyson, Mook, Alexander and Clark. Like, maybe as good as I've ever felt when we haven't had TWO Fullers at the corners.
And I get that. My question is, though, win or lose, how much will the result of the Independence Bowl affect you throughout the offseason and flavor your expectations for the 2016 season?
The game is important because we're playing in it. But what will the lasting influence of the game be? For me, there just isn't any, except for saying you remember Frank's last game as being... fill in the blank.
One of my biggest gripes about Lefty is that his up-tempo "sonic" offense was almost always running to the line to run the exact same play again. If you don't catch the defense flatfooted by the sudden uptempo, you are screwed.
Yeah, but I think community moderation is sufficient for what you're talking about, keeping an established poster in check for one bad decision. But let's say I decide to indulge in some tasty flakka over the holidays and go batshit crazy on the boards, hurling ethnic slurs like Brenden Motley deep balls, then I need to be gone. Now. And right now unless Joe is on, there's basically no way to do that.
Granted, it's not very likely for an established high-leg poster to do something like that, and Joe would eventually be able to deal with it the next time he was on, but I'm just saying VTGuitarMan has definitely proven himself worthy of a one-click ban power.
EDITOR'S NOTE: When I said "look nothing like what we see in Shreveport," I wasn't just meaning a different scheme. I also meant fielding an offense that doesn't look like it forgets how to football every 2-3 drives. A sputtering offense in the bowl would usually make me worried about the state of our offensive scheme and/or coordinator. That won't happen to me on Saturday.

Cheers, Frank.
