Because they have asshole troll fans? Look how many Buckeyes have hung out here all offseason and been the straight up tits. All programs have assclowns.
This is true, but the running game in general looks more promising. The problem now is, all defenses will stack the box against us until whoever the starter is can prove he can beat them with his arm.
I was actually glad to see them keep the game going instead of kill the clock, because that got Motley more snaps against a lethal defense. I guarantee you that touchdown drive was a confidence booster for Brenden, and you can't stress enough how big that could be going into a short week of practice. "I scored against OSU, I know I can score against Furman..." That kind of thing.
The game was lost when Brewer went out. For all the talk on here about it's an indictment on Lefty to not have Motley better prepared, that's pure emotion talking. Motley isn't a good enough quarterback to beat OSU. But he might be good enough to beat Furman, Purdue, ECU, a Connor-less Pitt and NC State. (That last one is iffy.)
And what if they were running the exact same game plan and Motley was just too nervous to make his reads?
The excuses really only started after OSU started going on a tear, and even up until the Big XII completely screwed the pooch on the whole "co-champions" thing, the narrative on OSU was they were on the outside looking in because of the loss to us and the B1G having a down year. It wasn't until they proved they were the best in the nation that the excuses for their loss to us started. Immediately after our game last year, everyone was saying we flat outplayed them. It was only when a national champion lost to a 7-6 team that the need for excuses came up.
So it's clear what we have to do...
Motu is our best option at mike. That's worrisome, and I hope he improves over the season. But I did mean it when I said I think he'll be serviceable. I expect our front four to be disruptive enough to take some pressure off Motu.
We have QBs on roster, one of them a four star, as opposed to converting our tight ends. Ergo, Scot gets credit for QB recruiting.
I'd feel very safe putting money on Durkin getting snaps vs Furman, akin to Motley getting snaps before Brewer went down.
Lots of reasons to be optimistic about this season. OL looks worlds better. But we have to have a QB. I have to wonder about the temptation for Lefty to play one of his guys instead of a player he inherited.
That was one of the toughest halves of football I've watched in a while. We had this game. I will go to my grave believing Brewer would have led us to a W. But that doesn't change anything.
Motley was outmatched. No guarantee he's any kind of answer.
From what I saw tonight, we have a run game. And thank God, because that's what we need against Furman, Purdue and ECU.
Defense is legit. Front four are evil. Motu is a weak link. Against most of our competition I think he'll be serviceable. Secondary got caught out of position a couple times, but really only after the wheels came off.
It's all about the QB now. I still think there is a 0% chance of a Lawson redshirt now.
That was Leal in the Sun Bowl.
How bout that TD pass? That was money.
For realz. We sound like a bunch of goddam Wahoos. Let's regroup and let Lefty come up with a plan.
PS, TOUCHDOWN MOTLEY.

I don't think he starts going forward. He's showing me nothing.
I would never downvote for this comment, but don't be that guy. We are clearly the inferior team without Brewer.
Dude...might be time to step away. It's week one and we lost our starting QB against the defending national champions. Foolish to worry about the bowl streak. Let the coaches come up with a plan.
Brewer'd passing stats were excellent, Motley is floating passes everywhere. I'm not so much worried about a lack of targeting Bucky. What we had with Brewer was working. What I'm worried about is, do we have ANYTHING with Motley?
Well, it's a snowball. Can't ask the D to keep holding after repeated short drives. Offense needs to carry its weight, but has completely stalled.
I'm hoping we look this bad with Motley just because OSU is that damn good.
Well, it looks like Motley is our guy, sink or swim.
Defense has folded.
No, Durkin should get his chance.
If you don't burn Lawson's shirt, Durkin gets the fourth quarter.

Yeah, I agree. I gotta rewatch it (woof) but it didn't seem to me we were suddenly in an uncharted territory of the playbook after Motley came in. Obviously some higher-percentage passes to start off, but it seemed like by the second or third drive, we were running our base offense.
Granted, I don't have your eye.
