Illinois Hokie's Recent Comments

Let me preface this by saying I have mad respect and love for LT.

I don't think he has the skill set for an NFL QB. You could not ask for a better environment and a more patient coach with a developmental prospect that what Arians provided in Arizona. If LT was going to turn the corner and become the QB we all wanted him to be, it would have happened in Phoenix. It just wasn't in the cards.

And I think he had the skill set to be a lethally dominant TE. Bryan Stinespring, for as inept an OC as he was, is a legitimately great TE coach. He could have turned LT into a beast.

The question now is, is it too late? And if it's not, is it too bitter a pill to swallow for LT to accept that our coaching staff wasted his time for his career at Tech?

This makes me sick.

No jokes, no memes, no sarcasm. If Bryan Stinespring and Mike O'Cain hadn't tanked our QB recruiting, Logan would have been a TE for us. Say what you will, but LT had to be talked into the switch to QB. It was not what he had in mind during his recruiting, and had we had a serviceable QB on the roster, LT would have been catching passes, not throwing them.

And if that had been the case, I can't help but feel that LT would have been Bucky Hodges before Bucky Hodges was Bucky Hodges.

No use crying over split milk, but I can't help but feel that LT was the last, worst victim of the O'Cainspring debacle. Thank god that era is behind us..

Okay, just gonna roll replies to a bunch of your comments into one.

Twenty-five years a Hokie? Then you should remember a few of these:

  • Texas A&M, 2-0
  • Nebraska, 2-0
  • LSU, 1-1, win came at Lane

Virginia Tech shows up for the big nonconference home and homes, especially in Lane. The game in this series we had no business winning was last year at the Shoe. I always figured we'd lose at OSU and had a good shot of winning at home. The result of last year's game does not change that impression.

The record vs top five? Worthless. Throw it out. It's a straw man. NOBODY has a good record against top-five competition. That's why those teams are in the top five: they are really really good. It's not like every other program is doing really well against them and its our unique Achilles heel.

There's a reason why Pitt is a nightmare for us every year. They are designed as a football team to minimize the effectiveness of exactly what Bud Foster does on defense. And when you look at OSU, there is every reason to believe that we are OSU's Pitt.

We can win this game. There are tons of reasons to believe we can win this game.

Will we? Who knows? A loss wouldn't surprise me in the slightest...but neither would a win. The only thing that would surprise me is if Frank pulls a heel turn in the vein of Hulk Hogan, ripping off his VT polo to reveal an OSU T-shirt (in the style of NWO, of course.)

OSU is a really, really good football team, and we have beaten a lot of really really good football teams. I've never felt like we've had a better change to beat one as I feel about this Monday.

We might get pantsed on national television. And if we do, I'll analyze the game (leaning on french, Mason and Joel) and try to figure out if there's reason for hope or if it's time to disregard the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

We might also beat the shit out of the number one team in the country. And knowing both are possible...is awesome.

Game on. Go Hokies.

I dunno I've always had the feeling that Jim Harbaugh is one of those coaches that his players love and everyone else on the planet hates.

Yeah when I heard the lineup tonight I thought, damn, that sounds like a lot of marquee matchups.

McChicken is trying to make a game of it. Pretty entertaining second half.

Here's hoping we see a lot of "group hugs" against anOSU Monday.

Yup. Just add .com on the end of either of them. You can order a minimum of one shirt from SpreadShirt. It was who I used to make the shirts back when I ran FBS. They're pretty darn good quality, too.

I think CafePress can be a one shirt minimum also.

Design your own text or upload an image for print. They'll deny anything that's copyright infringement, but original artwork almost always gets past their screeners, even if you're flirting with copyrights. Fair use and all that jazz. Plus, ordering one shirt, they really can't claim you're trying to make a profit.

Okay, when did this guy make the Facebook post? After being hired? Then he's not the brightest bulb. But if this was an old post and Nebraska only checked this guy's social media presence after officially hiring him...

In this era of Cafe Press and SpreadShirt, your shirt can be your sign without blocking the view of fellow Hokies. Win/win.

Could it possibly Be? It seemed to take an Eternity. I tried not to let his health become an Obsession. But now I'm feeling Euphoria. We have a lot of talented playmakers, but I think Kalvin might be the One.

I guess by that metric I'd definitely go 2015, because the modern iteration of the nickel is superior to the 2007 version, IMO, and that should, also in IMO, be our base defense against most of the offenses we face this day and age.
