Devils advocate: CJ was dismissed from the university. That's not on the football program, and he was in line to be a major contributor. Caleb still has a chance to make a name for himself under a new position coach at a position of need. And while I don't make it a practice to discuss the private lives of players, if it turns out this is truly grades-related, that also has nothing to do with the program.

If you take that last line out of context, it kind of loses its meaning. He ties it back to his answer at 2:19, where he said he isn't focused on individual accolades during practice but rather unit cohesion and development. I think he's saying when we actually get into the season, THEN he'll focus on making individual strides in his own game. Right now it's all about the OL as a whole to him.

Maybe the coaching staff would finally have to get off their ass and legitimately adjust their recruiting strategy to be more national

That's already happened. Lefty has already landed QBs from PA (Good luck, Andrew), FL, and MI. Searels has made inroads to GA. We're targeting IN and NJ more and are dipping past NC into SC. Are we pulling Cali and Texas recruits? Well, outside of Brewer's transfer, not yet. But you're talking like we still live and die by the 757.

Does he mean the summer session, or is he implying Fisher might be in trouble for the fall semester?

He is NOT eligible to return? Or should that say he is NOW eligible to return?

Thanks for the clarification. That's much better news.

I know Temple was run-heavy the year he was there, but does anyone actually know if they were doing power running or spread?

If it's violation of team rules, that's a dismissal, and almost always announced. All I remember is McKinnon just leaving the program. Might have been a Josh Standford soul-searching type situation with a better outcome.

Depends on the role we're talking about. Given Knowles' style, I think there is exactly zero chance he becomes an underneath target. His asset is speed, and while he might well have transcended his injury to become a more well-rounded receiver, you don't make a speed guy your dump off receiver. He might become a third intermediate/vertical threat, though. I could definitely see that.

For the underneath third option, my mind keeps going back to Joel Caleb. His time spent among the tailbacks might have given him the open field vision to turn a six yard catch into a 10-15 yard catch. If Burden's time with Caleb has paid quick dividends, you might see him emerge as a check down receiver over the course of the season. Plus he has the speed for some deceptive stop and go routes that could fool linebackers.

Also, am I the only one expecting they will be doing a remote from Blacksburg throughout the day on Monday, counting down to the game, even if it isn't technically Game Day?

Yup, you're right. Arnold's closed my sophomore year, I think, and then reopened as Preston & Co. I think it was still that when I graduated in '02.

GOD YES THANK YOU.

But the $64,000 question is, was that what it was when the dude got stabbed on the dance floor?
