I personally prefer the current "square root of one" logo over the old "T-in-the-V." I have a hoodie with the throwback logo on it, but to me it just doesn't say Virginia Tech like the current logo. Admittedly it's most likely because that's the logo we had the whole time I was at Tech, but our greatest successes came with that logo on our helmets as well.

Call me crazy, but I'd take Alyson Hannigan over the other three all day and twice on Tuesday. She's always tied me in knots.

I never did take that quote as Mike saying we weren't trying to score, but that we were trying to score every drive while also taking the game situation into consideration. Are we up by a more than one score? Did the defense just have a goal line stand after a six minute drive to force a field goal and need a blow? Okay, on this drive we need to bleed clock as well as score, so let's go ground heavy. That sort of thing. It's a valid philosophy, just a terrible way to verbalize the thought.

It also didn't help that Stiney's offenses performed worst when we needed them most.

And the next time a P5 wants to gain inroads to Virginia and the DC metro area, they have a legitimate target beyond entrenched ACC members VT and UVA. Maintain an ECU-like trajectory and I see it as a matter of when, not if.

Love the attitude. Reminds me of us in the late 90s.

They'll get their chance to see how they match up with us soon enough.

This hiring is going to be so close to signing day I'm not expecting any flips from it in the eleventh hour. Having said that, I would welcome a WR recruit in this cycle.

I wonder what the percentage is for student athletes who begin postgrad work to actually earn a postgraduate degree. I've always assumed a lot of the times it's just pursued as a technicality to keep redshirt seniors enrolled.

The problem with Loeffler at this point is his 4 seasons as OC have all resulted in pretty terribly ranked offenses, no matter where he was or what kind of players he inherited.

This just isn't true. While his year at Auburn was a disaster (which you pointed out), that was a real dumpster fire of a situation. While Lefty doesn't get a pass for it, you also have to look at the situation in context. Chizzik was already on the hot seat and made a horrible decision to attempt an immediate switch from a spread offense to a pro style with a young OC in his second year. I think Auburn was too big for Scot, and I don't think there was any shame in that. I'm not sure anyone could have done what they asked him to do.

I've always said Loeffler should be judged more by what he did at Temple rather than Auburn. Look what he did with the players he inherited there:

YEAR TOTAL O SCORING O
2010 89 79
Loeffler 63 39
2012 110 86

Granted, his numbers aren't going to set the world on fire, but he had a dramatic and immediate improvement in both yardage and points, which immediately disappeared when he left. You mentioned above that a good scheme is one that can be installed quickly, and he installed his scheme quickly at Temple. It worked there and I think it can work here.

This one was almost as good as the Walking Dead ones they did.

I'm not 100% sure that's true. I think it's more of an issue of Scot using a lot more package plays and calling on his QB to make reads, using a lot of presnap motion to try to find mismatches. I think it's an entirely different offensive mindset than we've ever had in Blacksburg, and I think it's taking a whole for everyone to learn the new math, as it were. If it were an issue of having too many plays, Scot could just rip out the back half of the playbook and use the K.I.S.S. mentality. I think we're just seeing a bit of culture shock from adapting to a more complex scheme, rather than an overwhelming number of plays.

That's a bad selling point IMO. If his desire is revenge, the smart play for him would be to commit to another SEC East school so he could have a shot at Tennessee each season.

I think a better pitch to him would be, "Our coaches aren't douches who exploit you."

Is that the same girl who was in so those late night Skinamax movies during my formative years?

That's where I'm at. Zohn doesn't have the NFL experience but is a more established WR coach and had a hand in designing ODU's passing game. Trading playing experience for coaching experience.
