Oh I agree, and it's just one persons opinion. I was honestly including it just because the way he phrased "I wonder if he'll get asked that in the introductory press conference" caught my ear and wondered if he knew more than he was letting on or he was just playing out a hypothetical.

Leg to offset the silly downvotes you're catching on this non issue

NO

While Fuente did have some good qualities as a coach, his downfall was greater than his staff allegiance.

Some other concerns now:

- He also has fallen behind in the NIL era experience
- He isn't going to attract top-end coordinators
- He had culture issues before money was a big factor. It's harder to build culture in the NIL world

Godfrey on his single wing today said Arkansas seems to be focusing on young, dynamic head coaches mentioned Golesh (edit: and I think silverfield which tracks with the TexAgs post) and didn't mention Franklin. He did say that the Franklin to VT thing is "hot" and even went so far to say he's not sure how he feels about the optics of that because he'd essentially be taking the job of his longest tenured assistant and wondered "whether he'll be asked that at his introductory press conference."

He also said the same thing about Lane that's in the TexAgs post, as the wind blows right now it seems like he's staying at Ole Miss and if he leaves it's for Florida.

ohh I would lose my shit if VT hired Fuente again..don't get me wrong

but wouldn't it be funny if they did, gave him everything, and then he went and won a ton of games and got us into the playoffs? You can't tell me that wouldn't be funny. I'd be pissed if we hired him but if it played out that way I'd respect it

Here, in the United States, it's an American name.

I don't hear you pronounce "Egbert" in the Danish way.

....but it's a German name

Now if his name was Wilson but pronounced the German way (idk, Vil-son, or something) then he'd be wrong. Because Wilson is not a German name

I didn't call his pronunciation wrong just his spelling. Though typically Americanized German names are pronounced with the vowels switched and silenced. Hoepker is common German last name that's pronounced hepker. I'm not an expert in this field though just things I've noticed throughout my life

I wound up coughing up for MASN for the Nats this year for similar reasons, though at least they figured out how to federate into the MLB app so I could watch it there rather than in the disastrous MASN app. It is what it is. I don't judge anyone who sails the high seas but it's not for me.

As a Canes fan in VA with ESPN+, mostly what you've missed is defensemen going down like Spinal Tap drummers. Nikishin looks like he's been playing in the league for 10 years though, confident and steady -- Maniscalco and Tracy commented last night that they were already forgetting he's just as much a rookie as Nystrom/Legault/Fensore that are on the ORD-RDU shuttle.

Ehlers looks like he's finding his feet finally, and Svechnikov might be waking up.

hate to be that guy but..if he pronounces it the German way doesn't that technically make him right and you wrong?

hear me out

how funny would it be if VT hired Fuente (again) but the sequel turned out to be waaaaay better than the first?

Like, the fanbase would go absolutely apeshit (ftr, I would 10000% be one of them) at first but then when he wins 10 games in year one with an exciting offense NOT run by Brad Cornelsen and gets us into the playoffs in year 2 I think he could become a legend in Blacksburg - took a few years away from the game to evaluate his mistakes - has hard conversations with the VT BOV and AD leadership to get the funding he needs for his vision and hires a superstar staff that actually knows ball. I didn't actually think JF was that bad of a ball coach - I just thought he was tied to Brad Corny and that anchor was too heavy around his neck. I think he could actually be kind of successful if he surrounds himself with the right coaches.
