He's the head coach at Hanover High School. Perhaps he can coach his other alma mater next year.

I've seen his name come up in discussions and I think he's a reasonable name that would make some sense.
Agreed, but there's a decent number of SEC schools that could have openings this year and no matter what the BOV decides we could absolutely be out-bid.
...can any of these drums, block?
(Just askin' for a friend...)

Hosting UVA when all the students are on break. We just can't do anything right, can we?
My one legged trailer should soon be out of my driveway. A local do it all guy says he has figured a way to get the trailer to run to the ramp 2 miles away to launch my boat. Welding and jury rigging will be involved. I bought my neighbor's old trailer after he got a new one, so I'll load it on that, the guy will take the old trailer away, and maybe I can get back on the local waters to catch nothing like everybody else this year around here.
I was surprised when I saw his trailer sans boat. I knew he'd gotten a new axle last year, with nice new wheels and a feature I'd never seen. Some kind of tortion thingee on the wheels instead of springs. Springs around here rust in a month, regardless of how much you rinse them. Seems like a sensible idea.
Not that odd. Most years conference schedules are a T/W and then a Sat/Sun each week.

first result when I googled "you can do that Georgia Tech GIF"
right back to TKP
The family and I just recently moved to Nelson County. For any familiar, I'm going to Wood Ridge farm brewery with the fam for pumpkins/corn maze and ride the choo choo around while enjoying beer. Sounds infinitely better than VT football atm.
Yes.
Is she married to Jack Tyler of Virginia Tech?
Love it. Pretty work. I never figured out the smallies. Is fall when the grampas bite happens, or is that a summer thing? I can remember catching them in the summer and using them as bait, but never getting the drift right.
For the piers, normally mullet chunks or menhaden chunks get picked pretty badly by crabs and blues. It wasn't an issue yesterday, but most days a menhaden chunk won't last long enough to let the drum find them.
Yesterday, if it was fresh, a drum ate it. There were only two sharks hooked and a handful of bite offs. One that was broken off close to the pier was a spinner, and the other was a blacktip. One taylor blue got his big boy pants on and ate a 8/0 as well. Luckily, I was not befallen with such bad fortune.
Chunk fishing instead of using heads can be crazy. A few years ago there were massive sea mullet that ate chunks fished on 8/0 circles. It was crazy.
I don't think they knew he was an HC Candidate
He was a successful and well-liked position coach with experience at the top Program at that time in College Football and as an Assistant Head Coach at UCF. Compare that to the current Staff at VT.....anyone similar??? No, didn't think so.
Meh... I believe nebraska has the largest multi-media licensing deal of any public, and they are not in a metro area. I don't think this plays.
Sure....there are exceptions to any rule. But would you suggest it is easier to find corporate sponsors to buy ads, pay for suites, make corporate donations in SWVA or Atlanta...???? Beyond Advance Auto (who is moving a large part of their operation to N.C.) and Carilion what else is there...
But they are competing with even more folks than we are.
They are competing with the same folks that we are---and doing so more effectively. Despite the now overwhelming reliance on NIL for Recruiting purposes, there still is a draw to some kids to stay close to home or at least in a similar setting. It also eases Recruiting budgets not having to travel nearly as far to scout do home visits, ect.
How often is it that VT signs kids anywhere in a 1 hour radius from Blacksburg? There's the occasional kid from high school in Roanoke, but other than that it's really limited. And how often are those guys star players? The last I can think of is David Wilson.
I agree that VT can learn some things from how GT has seemingly revived some life in their Program. I just think it is a very short-sighted oversimplification to compare the two as if the conditions are so similar between the two Institutions.

All points agreed with except Nebraska. They're very much like Miami in the fact that there are a lot (read everyone in the region that didn't go there) of non-alumni fans of Nebraska regionally they're definitely a licensing anomaly. Lincoln also isn't exactly small, its certainly not Atlanta but Lincoln and Omaha right down the road combine for an easy 1M in population which would make it significantly bigger than all of SWVA.
Didn't the AD and Asst AD just leave GT to go to Michigan State?
Is the replacement going to be able to maintain things?
Don't forget the $75 bag of apples at the shop on the way out
Got married right above claremont lounge. That place was fucking awesome until Lady Gaga told everyone about it on a late night show
GT had a Head Coaching candidate already On-Staff in Brent Key.
I don't think they knew he was an HC Candidate
they have several Mega-Donors, which VT unfortunately does not
GT Athletics only pulled $12.4m in donations in 2021. Even in the most recent FY that we have numbers for, VT is pulling more in.
-they are located in a massive metro area with large corporations and potential sponsors abound

- They are in the midst of Fertile recruiting ground, certainly one of the top in the country
But they are competing with even more folks than we are.

I mean, I think that's pretty much exactly where most of us are here. Can't blame individual players for getting bags while they can, but it makes the entertainment product we've loved for years markedly worse and if it means we like that product less, that means I have one less thing to do on fall Saturdays. It is what it is.
