I've been to Charlottesville a few times. Once to visit my cousin while he was in college. The only thing I can complain about is the college that was unfortunately founded there.
Here in Loudoun the biggest reason given on closing restaraunts is that they can't get enough staff. You have restaraunts here now experimenting with robot waiters for this very reason.
It's a volatile industry to start with but if you can't staff the basic schedule you are doomed. It's also an industry many first time business owners try their hand at and get overwhelmed quickly.
The other trend thanks to UberEats and Doordash are Ghost Kitchens. Red Robin is doing it with a pizza chain but you also have restaraunt food that is delivery only coming from kitchens built in industrial parks. The kitchens reach deals with chain restaraunts to make their menu items strictly for delivery.
A "generation" of college- down the drain.....lol
being from Charlottesville, I didn't feel that I could really judge anyone from any part of the state....
I went to VT ('92 to 2010)
The eighteen year plan.... excellent!!!
That's when you hit them with, "Oh, you're a transfer student from NOVA Community College?"
Hear hear!
Other than historical sites, what does that part of the state really have to offer?
Bold of anyone to claim NOVA is the "good part" of the state.
Being from out of state, hearing people say NoVa always gave me bougie vibes. It's like they were trying to make it clear they are from the "good part" of the state.
Trust me, our douchebag stock has skyrocketed since we opened up a student body pipeline into NoVa. The VT we went to is not the same as the VT of now.
Who's on first; I Don't Know is on 3rd....

Yeah, but who's on third?
I don't know.
Maybe the greatest comedy skit ever.
My bad y'all I said "If he can stay healthy" while referencing a Hokie RB in the NFL. This is clearly my fault.
I was wondering if I could get some input from the group. I've got a son turning 10 in a couple of weeks who loves to fish. We've floated a few rivers, hit numerous lakes (have a pond in our yard as well), had him out on an ocean charter - he's eat up with it and very capable.
My question - he's been talking about fishing the New River all summer, and he wants to go next weekend (likely Sunday). I'm a few hours away and this would not be a quick easy trip. I have a 15' tracker with a 9.9hp that I thought I may take to Whitethorne and tram up and float back down a couple of times. I haven't fished from there in several years and am worried that the ramp and lot might be busy, and trying to get launched, parked, loaded, etc. with a 10 year old may be an issue. Floating doesn't look like an option unless I could con someone else into driving down. I've also thought about calling a guide and booking a 2 person trip, though I know that would cost $$ and it's late in the game.
I've been super busy and this has snuck up on me, and now I realize I'm behind the 8 ball. Any ideas from those of you who have fished the New recently? I certainly would like to do more than stand on the bank and mail it in, and I don't trust him to wade the shoals yet.
Also, it's cliche, but you can't beat KFC extra crispy chicken breast.
Yes, it's called original recipe thighs.
Their handshake was a strong as rice paper.
"Big Douched"
Because the AD and admin at VT are allergic to proactive thinking and have shown over and over that they have zero direction or ambition for the future of VT athletics?
I do the same with buffalo sauce and spicy BBQ.
Others like Jersey Mike's I'll never step a foot inside
What? You don't enjoy spending $23 for a 8" Italian sub? But they cut the meat right in front of you

Counterpoint: cut salsa with equal parts sour cream and cream cheese til you get your desired creaminess -- usually we do 50/25/25 for thicker but 70/15/15 for thinner is good too.
Even better if it's hot salsa so you dont get the punch upfront but your nose is running by your 6th or 7th chip
Popeyes has the best fast food crispy chicken sandwich hands down. Also, it's cliche, but you can't beat KFC extra crispy chicken breast.
no...they've seen enough, know what they have and want to let him rest a couple days.
Combine cottage cheese with salsa and you get the best Dorito dip ever!
Looks disgusting though, ends up pink....I call it Monkey vomit

My kids still lament them closing. They would request it anytime we were in Leesburg or Chantilly and even now when we pass the former spots they will say how they miss it.
