These all seem a bit underwhelming. Nepo RB coach, Journeyman nickel coach with minimal accomplishments, and a very young Safeties coach coaching edge. Strange choices for sure. Maybe the young guys are more recruiting focused? Or maybe VT is a REALLY tough sell for position coaches? Hard to see the logic.
Oh, and Brant Davis to TE coach, leaving Holt to focus on Special teams. This makes sense with a new OL coach onboard.

1. Paige Drobny running with 15 dogs 258 miles in/870 to Nome
2. Michelle Phillips running with 16 dogs 243 miles in/885 to Nome
4 more teams within a mile or two of Michelle including Ryan Redington and Matt Hall, who are two of the favorites.
Does not mean much this early in the race and with teams constantly switching back-and-forth based on their rest schedule, but I still got a kick out of this.

If Jerr Bear is serious about getting better he needs more and better beef around Hoffman. As far as I'm concerned, the quality of line play dropped significantly since Travis Frederick left.
I don't expect anything to change though. Why would he? Dude is the ringmaster of the media circus and rakes in cash from it.

The ACC is 100% dead... let's see how we react. But its dead, there is no disputing it. It may survive as a basketball centric G5... but the UNCs of the world won't settle for that.
Looks like ACC's group of 7 (or however many) got what they wanted. We should find out soon enough who had homes elsewhere and who didn't.
Better yet, win your games, schedule better opponents, and control your destiny.

But what if everything moves to streaming by then, and Netflix or Amazon says give us an abundance of games?
I believe the traditional conference model in football will crumble by the early 2030s. It's already too unwieldy, and the revenue-sharing era will expose the chasms within conferences between schools that can afford to compete at the highest level and those that can't. Len Perna, ringleader of the group spearheading a proposed FBS Super League, told me late last year they were targeting 2032. It might not be that exact model, but it will be something that generates even more money and makes more sense geographically.
The timing between the levelling-off of the ACC exit fees and the start of this proposed "Super League" is......interesting.
But if that does happen, I don't expect it to be all-encompassing as the article states. The Power 12 (with 12 6-team conferences, roughly the then-Power 5) and the Group of 8 (current Group of 5) are far too many. I think this is going to whittle down to 30-40 of the top programs, those that decide to maintain a specific funding level. The Boston Colleges, Wake Forests, Vanderbilts, and Iowa States are not going to be involved.
To me, its an absolute show stopper to be in an unequal equity scenario. If I am Whit/Sands, I reach a deal with ANY other conference and pay the 165 million. Get into an equity situation at all costs. I don't want to hear about budget bullshit- borrow the money- pay it back when you raise tuition to 1 mil per year and there is a waiting list still. Dead serious. It's that or die a slow death. Get out- now.

Saw some additional details today that weren't in the OP's linked article (at least that I'd noticed). Paywalled article below, so I won't quote the whole thing, just the relevant bits.
This article from The Athletic was from yesterday, but I didn't see it then (saw it linked from Ivan Maisel's mailbag). Exit fee tidbit:
As part of the settlements agreed upon by the conference's board of directors and unanimously approved by the trustees of both schools, the cost to leave the ACC has become clear. It's $165 million during the 2026 fiscal year, according to a presentation delivered to Clemson's trustees, and it drops by $18 million annually before leveling off at $75 million in 2030-31.
Yes, 2030-31 is when the exit fee levels off, but the 2026 exit fee is not the $700M or so that was completely prohibitive. If somebody with $$$s comes a callin', it's not out of the question that a team leaves in 2026 for $165M, especially considering the next tidbit:
Hundreds of millions of dollars in future TV money no longer hinge on a judge's contract interpretations; instead of potentially staying in the league (as the ACC wanted), they'll accompany any departing schools to their new conference. Florida State and Clemson, looking for a potential pathway out of the conference, were suing the ACC over what they said were "unconscionable" exit fees and the terms of a contract designed to bind the schools to the conference through media rights.
Media. Rights. Go. With. The. Departing. Schools. This is the game-breaker. The Grant of Rights is essentially non-binding. Sure, as long as a school remains in the ACC, it's binding, but it doesn't bind the school to the conference anymore.
If Whit isn't now actively looking for a landing spot AS SOON as it opens, then he's not doing his job. Whether it's a Big XII, or a SEC/B1G, or some breakaway league, VT needs to find it's next home, and now has the wherewithal to move to it.
Saw that about Hoffman. Glad my 'boys retained him. They like his versatility to play any of the 3 interior spots and his playing with an attitude. Filled in really really nicely for 7 starts when Martin went down.
It would be nice for someone to raise a fuss and fight for us. Would also be in a better position if we we're winning

Article in the Roanoke Times about the game says he had been sidelined by a toe injury. Played for the first time since Feb. 1.
Shut down VT sports until ACC control on our rights expire. Burn it all down.
