Its just a no-brainer. If you enjoy coaching, do whatever you can to get into the NFL. Less responsibilities and bullshit for a much higher pay.
Brutal. I think the only way to make it bearable is do the Clemson and Bama models... have 500 support staff and win a fuck ton of games- which is the best recruiting tool. Dabo has 100 people to monitor the portal if he wanted to. Saban had NFL coaches as gophers.
Agreed. I know we all collectively are frustrated that VT is struggling to keep up in this new modern era of college football, but even with all the money, being a P4 head coach has to be an absolutely awful job these days. Probably working 80+ hour weeks and having to constantly worry about kissing recruits' butts and fending off other teams from poaching your players, schmoozing with donors and doing media events, also don't forget actually coaching and developing a football team (conditioning, practice, scouting, game prep, etc.) - managing and dealing with those players on a day to day basis. And somehow finding a minute to spend with your family between all of that.
The time to lose to dogshit teams at home is in December... not late February or march. Or be like the top 6 teams in the ACC, and don't lose to dogshit teams at home at all. We should try that again.
I would literally do ANYTHING else for comparable money vs. being a modern P4 college football or hoops head coach. Anything. There are virtually no rules, there is unlimited free agency, and the best players simply go to the highest bidder. If you ARE the highest bidder, that last for at most one season, then you have to find even more money next year. Fuck that.
The good news is Syracuse improved enough from yesterday's games that they're now a Q3 loss instead of Q4.
Yep- the committee will be 100% inconsistent as always. They will pick a category (SOS, NET, Non Con) reason for leaving VT out, yet that category will be even worse for a bubble team that gets in. Happened several times to Greenberg. They left us out for RPI once, and let Tulsa in who was 50 spots worse in the RPI. They will find a reason to leave us out this year.

Weather is supposed to be fairly warm. Highs in the low 30s, which is fairly warm for the dogs. Thought from the race analyst is that teams will probably be taking it easy with plenty of rest during the day and choose to do most of the running at night when it cools to well below freezing. If the wind is light, could be very fast times on flat ice. They were noting that mushers will likely be making sure their teams are not going too fast early in the race. But if there is a lot of wind, it will likely be in the team's faces and that would slow things down.
Having a hard time finding out what the actual course will be like. The Iditarod site would have descriptions of the trail sections and checkpoints, but with the trail being changed so recently, they don't have anything up about the early checkpoints. This is the best I can do.
Looks like the start will be near Pikes Landing by the airport. Teams will go down the Chena River and (I presume) go along the Nenana River for 52 miles to the first on-course checkpoint at the town of Nenana. Wife and I were there and Fairbanks when we visited Alaska. In one sense, a small town of several hundred, but by interior Alaska standards, it's one of the bigger places around, at the confluence of the Nenana and Tanana Rivers. Nenana has a couple claims to fame. 1 is that it was the starting point of the 1925 serum dog relay as the diphtheria serum was dropped off by train here. Nenana was the closest point to Nome on the railroad. Second is the Nenana Ice Classic where people can bet when the ice on the Tanana River will break up and the tripod will fall over. People can purchase tickets to bet on the timing.

After that (again, I presume) teams will head down the Tanana River for 85 miles to the checkpoint at Manley. Manley Hot Springs is at the end of the road connecting from Fairbanks. We didn't go there, but kind of like the idea of a place that really is at the end of the road.

After Manley, teams will continue down the Tanana River for 65 miles to where it flows into the Yukon River at Tanana.
To summarize:
Fairbanks = mile 0
Nenana = mile 52
Manley = mile 137
Tanana = mile 202
At this point, there is an agenda against the ACC in all sports. Whatever will hurt the conference is what will happen.
They're trying to set up an all sports break of the Big Ten and SEC away from everyone, and the ACC is currently the biggest connector left that must be severed to make it work.
There used to be some nice raft trips on the river, but last time I was there was over 30 years ago.

# | Loeffler Resigns BGHC To be Philly Eagles QB coach, Players exit too. I mean I can't blame him. Even when he was here we all said that Loeffler would make a much better NFL coach than college. The offense he wanted to run was too complex for the college game, or at least too complex for players to pick up fully in the 4 years they'd be in college. And now he's stepping into a great spot to coach one of the 2 QBs under 30 who have won the Super Bowl, who relied heavily at identifying a defense at the LOS and audibling into the correct play. Loeffler could have just set himself up for a very nice future with this gig.

First outing of the year on Saturday. Played 12 holes at Blacksburg CC. Just didn't have time for 18. Just me and a buddy, no warm up, hitting multiple balls just having fun. We get to hole #3 at BCC which is a brutal par 3. Anywhere from 200-230 depending on tees and pin. It was playing about 205 Saturday. I hit a clunky iron that was on line but 20 yards short. Had another ball in my pocket and we were in no hurry so I threw it down to get another swing in. Buckets. The dreaded Fred Couples Par. I am still simultaneously amazed and dejected. I now have 2 asterisk hole in ones without the real deal.
As much as I would love the Falcons to be drafting Tuten or Lane, if they draft anything on the offense outside of a single OL, I'll be pissed.
Would love to see APR go there.

Finally was able to get out for the first time in 3.5 months on Saturday. Near 70 on the first day in March. Gimme.
Took a minute to shake the rust off. I've played long enough to swallow my pride and club up substantially when not in the middle of the summer and full muscle memory. Birdied 18 to break 80. Got up and down from 3 bunkers. Hit my buddies Ping G430 LST and might have found my next driver. Solid day on the course. Here's to many more.
The meet officials look exactly how I would think ACC meet officials would look...
(And sour over VT beating UNC in ANYTHING!)
How much you wanna bet VT gets absolutely railroaded here as a small brand, pushing our revenue streams lower than they currently are.
