It's not "got your coach fired/QB benched/moved to TE" levels of satisfaction, but I'll take it.
Monday evening, March 3 update.
All 33 teams are on the trail from Fairbanks to Nenana. For the most part, people are bunched together 40-47 miles in. The Mackey clan leads at the moment with Brenda Mackey in 1st and Jason Mackey in second. In terms of some of the big name mushers we have:
Ryan Redington in 3rd, 46 miles in
Matt Hall in 8th, 44 miles in
Jessie Holmes in 9th 44 miles in
Millie Porsild in 10th 44 miles in
Nicholas Petit in 11th 43 miles in
Paige has moved up 10 spots from 26th to 16th and is 42 miles in.
All but 1 team is running with 16 dogs. Rookie Quince Mountain (all Iditarod name there) has been resting the team 23 miles in for a while. Hopefully there is not a problem with him or the team. Really odd that someone would stop so soon for a prolonged while.
In a Fairbanks interview, Paige mentioned that her dogs seem to like temperatures from about 0 to -20. It was in the 30s and approaching 40 in Fairbanks at the start, but she did note that temperatures were warm in a couple of recent races they did, so the team has recent experience with temperatures around freezing.
Interview with the analysts in Nenana noted that a lot of mushers they talked to were going to play it by ear if they would stop a lot during the day. If there is a breeze, it will cool things off and there seemed to be a breeze in town, so this is likely keeping the dogs cool and avoiding the need for rest at the moment.

And I for one am very thankful! Not only is good and VT related content at a relatively slow time of the year for the site, we also have something that neither the NCAA, the ACC, nor ESPN can't fuck up!

Absolutely. I know there were unusual circumstances, but I have to believe that if this team had an above average PG (Hysier Miller, or some equivalent) this team probably wins 4 or 5 more games this season. That would put us right in bubble territory.
Awesome all-around performance for the VT men to win another ACC title. Judson Lincoln IV was amazing (here's hoping that hamstring heals quick), but the Hokies have no shortage of straight-up studs on the team. Between JLIV in the 200/400, Nick Plant in the 800, the pole vault crew, and the DMR and 4x400 relays, there's no shortage of talent on this team. I'll actually be surprised if there aren't multiple Hokies all-Americans on the men's side at the NCAA meet in Virginia Beach in a couple of weeks.
Great to see the winning ways carry over under Ben Thomas. Here's hoping this is his first of many track and field titles!

Yep, Falcons need DL/OL and edge rush. I'd love to see them grab a stud OL in the first round and snag APR in the later rounds as I think he can be a decent rusher if he plays in the right system
The flip side is that combine isn't actual football and is only loosely predictive. You can jump really far and run really fast, but it's not the same as breaking a tackle (or making a tackle). That's the whole thing about skinny legs -- does it translate to actual football

Pry and Fuente are not elevating the HS talent on this roster in any meaningful way.
Man I am with you on this - mostly, but this would seem to logically assert that were Tuten and Lane sub-4.4 runners when they came to VT 2 years ago, or perhaps even faster, since we didn't develop them. I doubt that is the case, and I don't want to take away the hard-ass work Tuten and the others put in on their own. But I still have a hard time saying Galt unequivocally sucked when we are seeing gaudy (and rare even in the Goforth days) numbers like this.

On a serious note- assuming we can get our guys back.. Lawal, Young, Hammond.... get a true legit point guard and 4/5 to replace Poteat, and this could be a tourney team. Don't need a total overhaul.

Young has shown he can field a competitive team with almost an entire roster turnover.
Frankly, I don't care if any individual player comes back as long as the overall talent level is higher. And potentially overpaying for Lawal may not be the way to maximize that.
Convince Van Lith, Beuchers to play a 7th year. Get Amoore back. Lets roll. Sue the NCAA if they try to say there are some type of eligibility rules.
