So we outscore Bucknell 52-9 this weekend and go 2-1, sounds about right for VT.
About 5 minutes before they cancel every game scheduled with the P2 and say good luck with your two conference league. The rest of us will be playing for the real national championships for football and basketball. You made you bed, now lay in it.
Michael Vick wasn't just my introduction to VT football, he was my introduction to having a favorite football player and having a favorite football team. But I was too young to understand what a national championship was - I just thought VT football was awesome and Mike Vick was Superman.
I got older, grew to understand the game better, and started to understand the scope of what playing for a national championship really meant. Somewhere around 2004-2005, I got The Dream - one day, VT football would play for (and maybe even win) a national title, and I'd be old enough to watch it, understand it, and enjoy it.
The Dream has taken countless body blows over the past 13 years or so, and crucial hits to the head and face. I'm not so delusional as to say that I go into every season thinking "this year is the year" or even "we can get there in five years."
But for as long as I can remember, it's always felt like The Dream could happen during my lifetime. I'll probably live roughly 50 more years. So why not, right?
For a while, it just felt like if we could time up the NLF early departures on defense and graduations on offense the right way, maybe we'd have the talent to get over the top and go to a BCS national title game. Then it felt like "if we can just have an offense, we make a CFP." Then it felt like "if we can just get the right schedule, and then upset Clemson in ACCCG, we could be in the CFP." Then it felt like "if we could just get the right coaching staff and retain a stud QB, maybe we can catch the right breaks to host a CFP game in lane sometime before I die."
It's time for me to accept it. The Dream lived a long, memorable life, but The Dream is dead. It doesn't matter what we do right anymore. We're not getting an invite to the dance, no matter how well we perform on the field. Our best case scenario is officially 2017 UCF, because we are officially in the 2017 equivalent of the AAC. (Jordan Travis more or less confirmed this last year, but at least you could say "FSU would've had a chance if they had their quarterback). You can't even pretend to say that anymore. We're officially without say-so in the process now.
Even if we somehow get an invite to the P2, turn our program around, and start winning at the highest level, it won't be The Dream. Don't get me wrong, it'd be awesome, but it wouldn't be The Dream. The Dream, as conceived in my childhood, includes a champion who reigns over all of 100+ college football teams.
We're officially NFL-lite at the top now. If the rest of the conferences kick the P2 out and say "ok cool, we have our own division," we might win that one day - but it still won't be the same, because we won't be the "best team in the country."
The Dream is dead. Rest in peace.
At what point do enough non-p2 schools get tired of the bullshit and start a different league? Clearly the NCAA has made themselves useless at this point.
My concern is that the "truth" can be manipulated so easily. Just look around today. You have real living human beings spewing lies all the time. AI isn't going to be able to decipher who is telling the truth or not. Heck, most of the voting public isn't able to either.

This is the first I've seen a language model provide an answer like this that includes an indication of veracity. This is also the first time I've seen an answer from Perplexity. I don't think ChatGPT does that.
A lawyer once used ChatGPT to write a brief for a court case, which it did a really good job of formatting and making a decently cogent argument. It unfortunately made arguments that were not aligned with the law and included citations that were completely made up. So, I think learning and regurgitating how interpret veracity is a major step for language models. In the age of disinformation, it may be one of the most important features of AI.

And, this takes more planning and may not be a good idea in April: Havasupai! We did a 2 night stay there was horseride in and helo trip out. And a full day at the falls. Absolutely incredible!

Had a chemistry professor -one day in class he had the screen pulled down over the chalkboard (wow I'm showing my age with THAT lol) and had a toy shotgun in his hands; he spun around and "fires two shots" and simultaneously pulled the screen up. " never forgotten that demonstration and the issue with averages.
Also my dad who was a meteorologist pointed out that the "average " rainfall in Richmond is 43.5 " per year BUT one standard deviation was 17l! So 26 and 60 is the range that is common.

We enjoyed a DIY walking tour of building murals. Most of them are in the arts district RiNo, a few blocks NE of mile high, and they are spectacular. Stopped by a cidery there (Stem) that was the best cidery I have tried. Ate at a food market (Denver Central Market) there that had great empanadas. Went to a Rockies game. Great venue. The tourist priced tapas (Ultrea) place by the (Union) station was good. The lamb tacos at a dive taco place (machete) just down from the baseball field were killer. The fish tacos were garbage. The burger at the touristy looking local brewery Denver Chop House and Brewery) was better than the beer. We had a car and took a day trip to the RockyMountian National Park. Wow.

Beer scene is great of course. Some of my favorites: Cerebral, Cohesion (Czech style lagers), Our Mutual Friend. New Terrain near Golden is a good vibe on a nice day and often has live music.
Hogshead is a smaller spot but does British-style cask conditioned stuff that's super tasty and unique.
