I bought Mom's 65" Onn TV for 298 at Walmart it is still available for that price. Roku interface, plenty of HDMI and even composite connections. At under 300, you can afford to replace it if it breaks after 2-3 years.
Some family friends have a rental on Bittern Street on HHI. We have stayed there a couple times. It is a great place to visit, but unless I was working remotely or retired I am not sure I would be up for the daily hassle of traffic there again. I moved away from New England to VA for a reason.
Personally the viewing angles are great on mine. I can stand at like a 150 degree angle to the tv (or 30 I guess depending on how you look at it) and still see it just fine. Just for comparison's sake, here's the exact model I bought in 2021 (it was $800 at the time):

There has never been a better time to get a cheap TV, in whatever size you want.
Go to the store and look at the ones in your price range. It will surely be better than your last TV, and in a bigger size with better features.
Durability will vary, but you can always repeat this if it does.

Go to costco- Find an LG the size you want in QLED, it is likley to be very affordable. If not a costco member, Wal Mart often has killer deals/specials on larger TVs - they detest taking up inventory space- it cost them money.

As others and myself have stated I have a really hard time believing Banks would leave a successful position at an SEC school to come to tech but who knows.
Gotta have more to spend more. I'm currently watching a 15 year old pre-ultra HD TV - anything is likely to be an upgrade image-wise. Not taking on unnecessary debt for a item. I'd love to have a spare $1400 sitting around for a new TV, but it just is not a reality.
we have had a 400+ Pulte neighborhood, and 3 new massive apartment complexes pop up within 1/8 mi from our neighborhood entrance. I think my coastal SC days are numbered, just can't escape the people anymore.
Yep, I completely understand, mostly because I'm part of the problem. We built a house in a cookie cutter Pulte-style neighborhood on Johns Island and in the 10 years I've been living in my current house, Johns Island has completely exploded. 3 enormous apartment complexes along Maybank Highway (right by Wild Olive, actually), tons of new neighborhoods, and absolutely zero infrastructure improvements.
My kids both go to Academic Magnet in North Charleston and while there is a daily bus, if they do anything after school like sports or clubs, unless one of them is driving, we've got to brave the traffic and a round trip is usually close to 2 hours to go 35 total miles or so. I grew up in Alexandria and thought I got away from that grind but it feels pretty similar down here now. Oh well, at least there's great golf, the beach, and killer restaurants.
Anyone here do the inca trail and machu pichu? Looking for a group trip for maybe June/July/August. Obviously need a few days in Cuzco before for acclimation.

I have a Sony 65in TV X90K. Works well, and the android TV built in hasn't given me issues at all. Sharp picture.
I don't play video games, so keep that in mind.
Sony just works, and they work well. I hit a great deal at costco, but I get they have an added cost to them.

Keep in mind- TVs are no different than anything else- you get what you pay for. A 285 dollar 65 inch TV is not going to look as good/have the same angles as a 1400 65 inch TV. If you want a man cave TV to watch the game on in a dark basement, a cheap TV is fine. If you want to watch dark fast moving movies in 4K on your main TV- spend more.

The thing that is making me hesitant on the TCL, looking at the review on RTINGS.com, one of the cons says it has "Inadequate viewing angle", how is the image from views other than mostly head on?
Yeah Bluffton and HHI are definitely competitive markets - Beaufort is getting there. I keep moving around SC trying to find the old coastal slow country life that I remember growing up and its all but gone just about everywhere. HHI leaked into Bluffton (the whole 278 corridor all the way to 95 is insane now) and now Beaufort is starting to explode with apartment complexes, lots of Bluffton people looking for lower cost living and lots of people like myself taking refuge from Charleston. I moved from Charleston 2 years ago and in that time we have had a 400+ Pulte neighborhood, and 3 new massive apartment complexes pop up within 1/8 mi from our neighborhood entrance. Banks might be looking at a potential HC in waiting situation if the trigger gets pulled on Pry in a year or so.
