I read in the ESPN recap that Kidd left the court immediately after the game & didn't participate in the handshake line? Does anybody know why?
Yeah so much bullshit in that backstory. Both came back for one final big check. Only one of them has a legit shot at the WNBA but both are multi millionaires between social media and endorsement deals.
I didn't realize Cavinder had "unretired" and had to look it up that saga.

A lot of mistakes and bad defensive habits throughout were overcome. Nice team finish. Im really glad they pulled this off. Hope we win a few more ACC games. This win could help them get tighter. Go Hokies!

# | A look into football winning percentage for teams that moved conferecnes This is backed up by the data, in the 13 seasons in the BE we averaged 8.4 W - 3.6 L and in the first 13 in the ACC we averaged 9.4 W - 4 L. With moving to 12 game schedule our extra win became the FCS we played and then add in the championship game for the L. We were at .700 in the BE and .701 in the ACC.
If we only do last 10/first 10 then BE: 9.2-3.1 while ACC is 9.9- 3.5 then the BE was 0.747 and ACC was 0.738.
I agree that I think it's a bit of a different story for each team, but I've got to nit-pick this one comment:
Our first decade in the ACC was far more successful than our time in the BE.
We won 3 conference championships in the Big East (1995, 1996 and 1999) and finished the season ranked in the AP top 10 in 1995 (#10), 1999 (#2) and 2000 (#6). The first six years in the ACC, from 2004-2010, Virginia Tech won 4 conference titles and finished in the top 10 4 times as well.
VT's move to the ACC was a slam-dunk success, but it was basically identical to what we were doing the previous decade in the Big East.

I agree with all the points made, but i always have to laugh when thinking about Saban whining to Congress that now any school legally can pay players the same sums that Bama had been doing for the past 20 years
The guys in the bowls and playoffs have a five day exception and can enter the portal on completion of their season.
Key exceptions to the deadline
Players involved in postseason play have extra time to enter the portal. Any athlete participating in a bowl game or playoff has a five-day window to enter the portal after their season ends. For instance, players in Jan. 1 bowl games have until Jan. 6, while those in the Jan. 20 national championship game have until Jan. 25.Additionally, players impacted by a head coaching change receive a 30-day window to enter the portal immediately following the coaching change. While most coaching moves occur earlier in the offseason, late-cycle changes -- like Nick Saban's unexpected January retirement last year -- can still trigger a flurry of portal activity.
I know. I'm becoming so disinterested at this point. Its like if Nascar allowed different teams to have different size gas tanks or engine displacement based on team money. You KNOW who's gonna win.
I think eventually there will be some attempts at regulation, etc, but waiting/watching that occur is not gonna be fun, IMO.
I love the Hokies, players, etc. I'll always root for them. But the short term fix all the fans pony up and we find some BIG money donors willing to write big checks to pay some unproven high school kids scads of money to play a game.
I hate it.
EDIT: and I'm NOT asking that we as fans do that. It'd be like Carrowinds saying "I know you paid for admission, but if you want to ride the REALLY cool rides, you and your friends have to spend a whole lot more....."

What's really run/sad is that in all of this the spring portal will have a bunch of guys in the playoffs that got paid to stay around so the team had enough to practice.

This team has soooo many holes to fill on the roster right now. Between losing players, recruiting whiffs, and simply not developing the talent on the roster, I'm unsure if we can put together two units that can play complementary football.
To this point, the portal has been fairly useful by adding missing pieces. Now we have to essentially retool the majority of the roster via the portal. I don't think we have enough sex appeal as a program or staff to accomplish that in one off-season.

99.5% is high unless you aren't counting 80's kids. Parents Just Don't Understand was super popular before the TV show. Pretty much every kid I know had "I'm the Rapper, He's the DJ" on cassette tape. Will Smith's style of rap was pretty accessible for kids who weren't that into hip hop, and it was a funny song.
If you're only talking about people in their 30s or younger, you're probably right, but most of the 40+ crowd heard that album (or at least the hit single from it) before Fresh Prince ever aired.
