Looks like this is actually happening now with some of the big name coaches. Seems similar to a Tom Brady type of contracts where an individual (or coach) can only take so much compensation before it takes away from the overall ability to get other good players.
Mike Norvell $4.5M https://www.on3.com/college/florida-state-seminoles/news/mike-norvell-to...
Brian Kelly $1M https://www.si.com/college-football/brian-kelly-offering-million-lsu-nil...

I'm hoping it's because one or more replacements are still coaching in a bowl this week or playoff game. But the worst case scenario I can't get out of my head is that Quinn is going to be our new DC.
fair enough. I stand corrected
Rest assured Whit Babcock has a very private and state of the art/comprehensive coach finding and interview process. Very thorough.

No. He coaches NSU for 3-5 years. Then comes to VT

My thoughts are drifting towards "this is taking too long"
This.
I've had a several good managers. Regardless, companies still took advantage at every single stop at the four "real" jobs I had. My experience taught me to go make money for myself, so I did. Some folks are cut out to be a company man, I much prefer being an entrepreneur.
I haven't listened to it for a bit, but when I did it was always Dwight and Mike co-hosting

I really really hate the fact that I agree with this....but....he's right
0-5 against non-ACC P4 teams all time. And only won 3 games against 7 win P4 teams (BC x2, GT). Those are his best wins in 3 years, by the way, and they were against teams that either had backup QBs or benched their QB permanently immediately after our game. We really only won those games because we were going against teams with bad QBs. IDK what Minnesota's QB situation is (because, outside of VT, I really don't follow CFB) but I'd take 7+ win P4 teams against Pry's Hokies every single time. We'll see who he hires on defense in the off-season but he's going to have to prove himself early on in 2025.
They couldn't do a better photoshop for my man? lol
I'd take a P4 team over VT with no opt outs. I'd take Minny -6.5 in week 1. Free money until we prove otherwise.
I'm just mad I wasn't paying attention when it opened at -1.5 after the first day in the portal it went to -4.5 and its still creeping. I bet Tuten and Strong not making announcements are the only things keeping this line in the single score range.
Calling my bookie
Current line is Min -6.5.....eventually vegas will stop giving away money on these bowl games with opt outs. I'd love to look up how many times teams with fewer contributing opt outs covered the spread I'd bet its pretty high

Sounds like Dwight will have some kind of role
So proud! And yes I will be involved. 🙏🏿 pic.twitter.com/UYLPkl69J4— Dwight Vick (@vick757) December 18, 2024
I should probably change my pick 'ems pick for this game
Except we played a depleted Tulane last year, basically getting the opposite medicine this year.
He's probably already got a 30 year home and home agreement drafted.
100% He is VT. Hell, we wouldn't be on the map without Vick.
Really? I'm thinking there has to be some highlight video out there. Can somebody who isn't so busy at work get their sleuth on and dig some up?

Any lazy/down the hall hire at VT would not surprise me in the least, sadly. But Pry is coaching for his job and career in the P4 as a head coach. The more he over-clubs here- i.e. not an internal promotion- the less heat he gets from fans and boosters. He better get this right or it will be a long time before he gets a head coaching job at a decent program.
