I don't think straight points per game ranking is that great of a stat. Teams like Jacksonville State, South Alabama, Texas State, North Texas, etc. all scored a lot of points, but who were they putting them up against? And some conferences (like the Big 12) seem to favor trying to outscore their opponents rather than play serious dense, so that skews things as well.

Regardless, looking at those rankings, I would say our offense is the problem. But watching games, and watching our offense and defense play, it felt like our offense wasn't the problem. Watching our D that could hold strong for awhile all of a sudden give up a bunch of big plays just felt inexplicable. And watching the games, it felt a lot more like our D was the problem, not our O. I know that's very scientific and technical, but it's not often you can give up 21or 28 points in the second half and win.

I mean, you're right though. Not so much a meltdown IMO, more that the opposing OC makes halftime adjustments based on what he saw from Marve's game plan. Marve seems to be incapable of making counter-adjustments and gets blasted every second half

The down side is not getting another 40 million if he'd continued to have a long and successful career. But, as for Pry, he wouldn't be getting the same level of buyout. And he has the same downside - greatly limiting future income by not performing well. Plus, if they're buddies, neither one would be doing the other favors by going down on a sinking ship together. Fuente made that mistake, let's hope Pry doesn't.

Getting to be an old school fart but 100 hundred percent agree - you can't completely destroy an outfit like SI and then try to rep the beloved brand. Just humiliating

For Lane stadium itself, I was only ever on the field for the 2007 win over FSU. Prior to that there was the 1983 Squeaker in 1983 at Lane NORTH where- after stomping them 48-0 -we tore down their goal post and carried it out of the stadium; and then at the first ever VT bowl win in the Peach Bowl at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium on Dec 31st beating NC State. (Ah, NYE in Atlanta was sweet that year!)

No one wants to fire their buddy, but when you have to, you want to make sure they're okay, cause they're going to be your buddy longer than you have the job. That doesn't mean he won't fire his buddy.

Seriously, you want the coach you recruit to feel good about his initial deal, or you'll immediately lose him if he works out. You can't start out with bad feelings about contractual issues, or it will surely not work out.

I get wanting to save money, but to some degree you have to play the game.
