Will say this again- Pry runs a very unique defensive scheme, with very few experienced coaches on that system's coaching tree. That tree is so small, Marve wasn't even coaching it as a LB coach at FSU. Pry's time will live or die with defensive success, and so far they have been a far cry from his units at Penn State. And losing Peebles is going to be really tough to deal with. I had some concerns because he was a 50 percent of the reps guy at Duke. But man, he had one heck of the year and got better as the year went on. Best DT since the Walker-Settle-Baron trio by far.

Our single biggest problems have been linebacker play and defensive strategy. That points to one person. If any other coach gets fired to save the DC job it's unjust. Bette scheme/strategy and LB play/execution (even recruiting) would considerably increase our defensive production and wins.

I'm not jinxing Pop like that.

I'm betting that Drones is done, one way or another.

The only time I see planting the flag as a legit thing is for a neutral field game between rivals. Like the Red River. Doing it on the road is uncalled for. And at home, just form a circle around your center field logo as respect. No need for flags to trigger a response.

But I wonder if Jones would be kept due to his close association with Pry. The other one I wonder about is Prioleau. We all agree the safety play has been atrocious, but do we cut ties with him knowing that, when healthy, his son, PJ, will be in serious contention for RB1 next year?

*assistant to the position coach

But I mean if there's an assistant position coach or analyst job in the NFL for Justin Hamilton, why not for Marve? I would say they're about equally qualified

other than its accepted industry standard practice and his agent expected it

What this means, in a very small industry, is that if you don't play ball you don't get good candidates, and if one of the marginal candidates you get pans out, he leaves at the very first opportunity for someone who will give him the financial security you won't. There is no "one weird trick" here.

The chain of custody on this info seems pretty weak to me, so I'm not getting too fired up.

But yeah, if legit this is, at minimum, an agent having some inkling that things could go sideways for his client and trying to smoke out other opportunities.

No. We have no DC on staff. We need a new DC who has the option to retain any defensive coaches. IMO the only one border line worth keeping is JC.

We need someone with previous coordinating/play-calling experience (on both sides of the ball, IMO).

I don't think that person is in-house.

I'd be only a little bit disappointed if it happens this way - I'd like to know that Pry can fire someone when he needs to.

Don't assume this isn't a firing... I know pry is very much not Nick Saban, but Nick Saban was the king of rehoming coaches without firing them. Pry might be doing something similar.
