Fair enough, but I think a lot of people thought this would be the year to take that step. And sure, being close is better than being far away. Last year we wouldn't have been close at all against Miami and Clemson. But we should have won some close games against the average to below average teams on our schedule.

If we're 9-3 with close losses to Clemson, UM, and let's say Syracuse we might not be ecstatic, but we're feeling a lot better about the future.

From what I gather, he has a self-employed, consulting-type role like Bud. Lives in a suburb outside of Dallas - my assumption is that he wants to stay in one place until his kids go to college. I vaguely remember him helping out the TCU coaching staff during their BCS run.

The only team I'd think he would come back for is SMU or another Dallas-based role.

I wonder if this is because we were (at one point recently when I looked at the stats) 13th in the conference in rushing D. No need to pass the ball if you can run it down our throats. But also impressive we could be tied for 4th in interceptions if there were so many fewer passing attempts.

I hear ya, but Fuente who was Pry's immediate predecessor is like a glaring case study in retaining buddies to the point that it puts your job on the line and then you lose it. If Pry ignores what happened to give him the job in the first place (and yes, I'm assuming had Fuente fired Corny somewhere before the last two years he may have been able to keep his job, at least for a little longer).

And considering this is Pry's first HC gig, if he fails, he's definitely going backward to a coordinator or position coaching spot. Loyalty is one thing, self-preservation is another. And as bar1990 said, he believes this may be Pry getting him another job. And if they are buddies, that makes even more sense that Pry would help him find something else.

Let's be honest, his kids are in the fun ages. He has enough money to sit and live on the investments in a comfortable manner. He can wait and go back for the right coordinator position in a year or so.

But, the game might move on from him and he might be stuck retired.

I'm waiting for the body camera video to come out from Columbus PD, Franklin county sheriff, we will never see the body cameras from Michigan or OSU police but they are the ones who used the most OC spray. By interesting to see if they sprayed only opposing players or their own also.
